The room was nice. We had a nice view and the bed was comfortable.
However
I left a parcel with some things and a 5$ note in my room after checking out. When I came back to pick it up, the note was gone. When I asked about it the staff didn’t want to discuss further. The issue isn’t the money but the principle.
Because of this I’ve cancelled ongoing personal bookings and any staff related accomodation to this hotel/brand.
Room was okay overall, bed reasonably comfortable and nice room for two nights. However room service was sub par, we were told it’s only available on weekends and was closed. Paid for the room including breakfast was no communication about if breakfast was available and assumed not as restaurant was closed. Paid $50 a day for valet parking. Was told every time the wait would be 20 minutes one morning 30 minutes. Called 10 minutes ahead then go downstairs and they’ve taken the car back and told it would be another 20 minute wait. Stayed at the Ree’s last time I was here and honestly will be going back there, not overly impressed.
These are what you are getting from a “five-star” hotel:
Dirty, mouldy, old, smelly…
Bathroom smells aged stinky.
Bed is sagging at centre, which is letting the lower back feels sinking no matter which way you lay, worst bed I’ve ever stayed, in which case I barely had rest at all.
Only good thing is the staff are super friendly.
The Day Spa was absolutely amazing! One of the best spas I have been too! The ability to book online the day before was so convenient. The spa itself was stunning and smelt amazing! The staff were very helpful in explaining the treatments and options available. I walked out feeling like a new women. Would recommended this spa to anyone going to Queenstown! Pure bliss !
The rooms were very nice looking. But this isn't a 5* hotel.
I struggled with the AC making the room too dry
The bed I must say is the most uncomfortable horrible hotel bed I've ever slept in, 2 sagging single frame beds pushed together with a mountain range joiner in the middle, this seemed the same with other rooms based on comments from others I was travelling with.
Breakfast options were good, espresso coffee had good and bad days
great place with quality service. location perfect for stick around queenstown town.
Great location. Awsome staff. Great food and drinks.
Awesome personal service and some of the best food that I have had, highly recommend.
The only hotel in Queenstown that we use. Stunning. And great location.
Great hotel . Great location and great staff. Juliy in coffe and breakfast side is great. She's very nice and helpfull.
The best service, the best position, great place to stay, from suite, to penthouse just perfect
I planned a surprise 40th Birthday Party for my partner at 1789 Wine & Jazz Lounge at Sofitel this July and I can't possibly recommend them enough.
It was so perfect in so many ways. From friendly attentive staff to the cool french decor and thoughtfulness from my very first call to the end of the event. Ashlee & Susannah were super helpful and friendly and really went out of their to way to make sure that everything was planned accordingly. They even made a signature cocktail and printed out an adorable description of the drink with a picture of my partner. Throughout the evening, they made sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. Our guests raved about the tapas as well as the fantastic cocktails and how awesome the staff were; which made me look really good! :) I was really nervous, hoping desperately that everything would work out as planned. Julie was instrumental on the night of the event along with the wonderful gentleman who arrived with 2 of the signature cocktails and handed them to us as we walked in the door. Just Wow!
I originally struggled to find a venue in Queenstown with people not getting back to me; or when they did respond it was without any type of care or customer service.
So when I reached out to 1789 it was like a breath of fresh air and I immediately knew this was the place for this special event.
Even if you simply pop in for a glass of Bordeaux or a hand made cocktail, it's absolutely worth it.
Thanks again to the whole Rockstar Team at 1789 & Sofitel Queenstown!!!
Clean and very professional. Close to everything and a really peaceful ambience.
Five stars for a five star spot. Bonjour.
Excellent hotel. Service was excellent and room was really well equipped
Excellent service, the Left Bank restaurant is amazing, hands down one of the best places I've eaten.
Room is well furnished, spa bath in room with a television is nice.
The TV inputs are locked, so if you want to watch Netflix on the TV you need to unplug the sky box, not a problem, since it's such an edge case I'm not surprised it isn't supported.
Many TV channels and easy access to the snow fields.
Nestled under the grandness of The Remarkables mountains is this beautiful hotel designed with plush French feel. All the mods and con including a TV in the spa tub to watch while you soak after a day of skiing. Centrally located within walking distance to town. All the staff are immaculately dressed ,say hello & let you take the lift first. Room service is as fine as any restaurant.
Well worth the money.
have stayed in this hotel around 6 times, it is a great place, the rooms are clean and modern and the staff are always so welcoming and helpful. it is close to everything as it is right in town, and they even valet your car and are always willing to help with luggage and bookings. the food is great and the place is looking better than ever now since the upgrades
