Today, I booked a room via my mobile. Nowhere during the booking process it was noticed that check-in is only possible until 8pm.

One hour after the official confirmation mail, I received a general mail from the backpackers telling me the latest check-in time. I replied immediately with an email saying I arrive at 9pm to arrange late check-in. I also tried calling the backpackers 4 times in the six hours left prior to my arrival. No answer what so ever.

Now I have arrived. All doors doors locked. No bell, knocking was not heard. I tried to call one final time but again no answer.

I am now sleeping in the devenport hotel across the street for $160 a night.

As I am working in a backpackers in auckland myself I feel deep disappointment, as know that this behavior demostrates a deep lack of communication skills and custermer service. Late check-ins are possible everywhere. Also emails and phone calls are answered at other businesses.
