Decent food, pleasant staff. I'll be back.
Don't go to this restaurant unless you really don't care about the quality of the food thats served up to you, and you don't mind paying good money for very bad food .What was once a great restaurant is now being let down by it's management and the Polynesian and Indian "chefs" who were in the kitchen tonight.
The main dish of ravioli was a small portion and not worth the money. Of the five dessert options listed on the menu only two (!) were actually available. And the creme brulee was NOT freshly made - it was cold - fridge cold! The dessert was sloppy and the top of the brule (the caramelised sugar that is supposed to be crispy) was SOGGY! I've never had such a pitiful excuse for a creme brulee ever served up by any kitchen around the world. My kid nephew and niece could make better food. Seriously, I'm not simply being critical. The quality of the food was so poor that a child could really do better !
The waitress was polite, apologetic, and very appropriately made the decision not to charge us for what had been served up. That doesn't change the fact that the experience of going to this restaurant was beyond disappointing.
What was once a great restaurant now shows appalling mismanagement both in the misleading availability of food options, and the choice of two people in the kitchen who can NOT cook to a standard that would be acceptable in anything but the poorest of restaurants. The fact that the "chefs" could not recognise how bad their food is, was made even worse by the fact that they actually had the audacity to serve it up to a customer in the expectation that the customer might pay for it.
The management need to step up, the Polynesian and Indian cooks need to be given their marching orders, or this is one of those restaurants that really does deserve to go out of business. There are a dozen other food outlets within 5 minutes walk of Gina's Italien Restaurant - if you are reading this review then I strongly advise that you take your money, and walk to one of the other restaurants to avoid being disappointed.
Loved the food and the service was great! Beautiful restaurant and awesome vibe.
Great Italian place for a meal. Fresh seafood soup ( Capo's Cacciucco ) is spicy and delicious. Great for winter 😁
Lovely atmosphere for dinners for one, two, or a group. Very cosy, quaint, friendly staff, and gorgeous delicious Italian food. Even the dessert is by far one of the nicest i've ever had sharing for two! The staff made our night providing my father a dessert bowl of icecream with a candle for free, out of the blue, on his birthday. Well done ! Great service with a smile .
Not the best experience unfortunately. Pizza was average but the ravioli was tasty. When we arrived the first staff seemed friendly but we were served by a different waitress who was very intimidating and abrupt. Most of the cutlery and the cups on our table still had food and lipstick stains on them which is not a good first impression. However, it was nice that the staff sang happy birthday and made me feel special. Wouldnt consider coming back unfortunately.
A real Italian family making wonderful Italian food. Outstanding handmade meatballs, delicious pizza, and fresh tasting salad. My favourite Italian restaurant in all of Auckland.
Amazing service, excellent food and a nice and fun atmosphere. Great place for groups and families. We sat outside in the courtyard, we really enjoyed our night and will definitely be back! The homemade pumpkin gnocchi are to die for! Thanks Gina's
Amazing! I've been here many times & have been completely satisfied with every experience One Word that sums up Great service, Great food and beautiful people "Amazing" Truly recommend.. thank you Ales & Joyce for making my family feel welcome xxx
I finally got try try this place, heard lots of good reviews from friends and family. We booked ahead as it was a special occasion.
The hardest thing for all of us was choosing what to eat as there were several options worth exploring, and that was only the entrees. We ended up with a selection and shared amongst us. There was even a harder decision for mains, I was constantly changing my mind even with the waiter standing next to me after taking the others orders.
We all agreed that both the Entree's and Mains were very good. Not too filling, but overall you left the restaurant with full and content stomachs. The girls quite enjoyed their cocktails too.
For us in good ole South of Auckland, it was well worth the trip, I would gladly do it again quite soon, especially on a Saturday night when I hear that the staff put on a little entertainment show.
If you enjoy Italian food then this is a must, if you don't then you should try it.
