Great food for a good price! Burgers are very unique and portions are generous! Ashamed to say that I’ve eaten there twice in two daysbut that’s how you know it’s good :)

What a cool place it is! At first, I was surprised the fresh and delicious water, I've never had before. And then the steak sandwish is wonderful. It is like a tower with pole. The taste is great. And the staff is so kind and the toilet is clean.

Super funky cafe with a great light atmosphere. Chalk board lists a bunch of different options including very unique gourmet burgers and lots of desserts and drinks as well. Table numbers are kids toys and odd knick knacks. Serving are huge and delicious (consensus of all table). Shared a tender steak sandwich which came with wedges and a couple of big onion rings. Would definitely recommend and come back next time in Rotorua

Great service staff all very friendly, efficient and accommodating. Great serving size. Food really yummy. Our nth time and eil keep on coming back!;) Get an annual pass at Rainbow's springs - 2 for price of one breakfast here

Cozy, nice decor, friendly staff. Got some free muffins towards the end of the night. Will definitely go back. And oh yes, the food was super yummy. Watch out for the falafel salad tho, it was numbing spicy.

Best service in a quirky little cafe! Oh my, such lovely people in this place and my latte was spectacular! I haven't had much luck with NZ coffee (compared to Melbourne) but Fat Dog was beautiful.
And then there's the burgers! Probably the #1 best burger I've had in my lifeand I eat a lot of burgers haha
I had the Fat Bo Peep (lamb) and my partner had the Hey Diddle Diddle (beef) and it was money well spent!
I honestly cannot rave about this place enough! It is a must go in Rotarua, especially for burger and coffee loving Aussies!response / report this review -

We had a terrible customer service experience from one of the lady staff just today. She was rude. She served us our dessert prior to serving main course, so we asked her nicely if she can serve the dessert later after we had our dinner. She replied to us "it's a complete waste of money, next time can you please let us know that dessert will be served later?". How come it's a complete waste of money? We didn't even asked her to throw away the food and make one for us again later. We just asked her to keep it for a while. Instead of being rude to a customer, why not find ways on how to solve the problem. Anyway, the food is okay, but it's quite expensive especially desserts.

Love Love Love this little place in Rotorua! Great food, great location, great service. There's a plump red fish who watch you while you eat and it seems he's really hungry 😄

Psst don't tell anyone as we don't want the Fat Dog getting too busy but this is my absolutely hold phone favourite cafe on the planet. Simplicity itself great food and coffee and atmosphere they should bottle and sell. I always leave Fat Dog with a smile on my dial.

Friendly service, the food portions are generous and appealing to the eye however the flavours were not quite there for me, my first visit I got the fish burger chips were cooked perfect but fish lacked taste. Second time I got the seafood chowder and the same thing it needed more salt etc and I wasn't a fan of the sweet corn in the chowder could have done with more seafood. Love the quirky decor though.
