Our favorite restaurant in Oslo. Exceptionally beautiful dining room with period feel, high quality cooking and superb service. Very traditional high end vibe.

This is among the oldest establishments in Oslo. The atmosphere takes you back to late 1800. You can dine in the footsteps of famous Norwegian poets and artists as well as the upper classes. Still, this place is a typical playground for the wealthy, but the price level is affordable also for you and me. May favorite? Their tartar sandwich.

Fine dining at a great location with nice interior. Busy and pricey. 30 NOK for cc. Did not see any celebs. Minus one star for delaying my main dish.

Classic traditional restaurant in the center of Oslo.
Visited by celebrities for decades, and there are photos of them spread around the restaurant.
We visited on a Sunday in January (2017) so it was a quiet nice atmosphere.
    Service and food was excellent.

The place is visually appealing and has a real sense of grandeur and tradition. I do however have a problem with paying 245kroner for a cheeseburger without ever hearing heard a single polite standard phrase that you would expect from professional waiters. Not even a welcome, not even a smile. MacDonalds employees across the street at least welcomes.
