Dirty. Disorganized. Over-priced.

I booked a bed at Piano Hostel as a last resort when other hostel beds in the area were booked up. I would not stay here again.

Cons:
--No reception: Nobody to ask questions to, letting yourself in if you've figured out how to get those instructions (This is a big mess and I'll spare you the details.)--this means guests are frequently explaining these things to new arrivals who are pounding on the doors outside.
--No keys: There is one code to enter the building and no locks on the two dorm rooms inside. Pay extra for a security locker. (Those lockers and baggage shelfs available in one of the two rooms, meaning increased traffic in that room.)
--2 bathrooms w/ 1 toilet & 1 shower inside for ~20 guests: self-explanatory. Also, hot water was non-existent even when it hadn't been used up.
--Disgusting kitchen: Kitchen cabinets were full of ants and old food. Fridge smelled awful. Nothing was labeled or appeared to be monitored.
--No common area: The kitchen picnic benches is your "common area" and is very cold and uncomfortable.
--Cold & noisy rooms: Not well insulated or heated. You hear all the noises from outside on the street and all the noises from around the hostel. Bring earplugs and wear layers to bed.
--Bed assignments: Bed assignment specified for you, so you have no choice between top or bottom bunk or location inside the room.
--No staff working on premises: Makes the place seem unsecured and unwelcoming.

Pros:
-- Heated floors in the bathrooms.
--Wifi
--Location close to train station and city center.

Comfortable and clean accommodation at a reasonable cost (for Norway) close to the station and center of Bergen. Well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Things that could be improved is having to pay 10Kr to use the small item lockers in the rooms, not a massive amount but it is a basic service that should be included.

Must sign in to their wifi then check your email to get your entry password. It's self service. Took a while to realise this.

he place is quaint, very clean and in a good location. Has a kitchen with loads of communal pots, pans, cutlery, crockery and utensils. Toilets have heated floors. Heating is abundant

It's a good option

Very, very noisy because of neighbouring piano bar. Defect bathroom light. Heating element coming from the wall.

Clean, livable, but there's only one bathroom, and it's small, even by hostel standards. There are roughly 20 beds, and only 1 shower. There are no lockers. It's cheap, but I've seen better value.

Too expensive for basically what you should really call "night shelter"! No staff presence at premises, this is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment converted to a hostel for 16, Feels very cramped. One star for location, all else pathetic.

Woaaaah!! So overpriced for a cramped, dingy and absolutely zero customer service place.
Yes - it is a self service hostel but spare bare minimum breathing space for Hostelers. And have you considered providing charging points or plug points?
Maybe even that doesn't fall in the realm of self-service. I wish there was a zero star option because for this price - me and my friend could have stayed in an actual "hostel" or maybe even better!!
