Extraordinary hotel with a very special atmosphere. We had a great room (honeymoon suite). Perfect experience!

Nice hotel, comfy rooms and close to museums. Employee are very young. They are very kind a d nice but need to be trained more.

"upgraded" to room 118, an accessible room located directly above the toilets and dish area of the restaurant. The banging of doors shocked us from the beginning of slumber until well after 1am. If you do choose to stay here for the reasons we did—proximity to museums, bike rental—do not let the unfriendly staff put you in 118.

The College Hotel is situated consentiently around 20 minutes tram ride (routes 5 and 24) from Amsterdam Central train station but is even closer to many of the city's famous sites and places of interest. As an aside, the tram ride is fantastic and gives you a great flavour of Amsterdam as you travel. The staff at the College Hotel are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a style that is somehow both sophisticated and charming. My room was well appointed (the desk not only had a multi device plug adaptor buy also USB ports to assist with charging my electrical goods. The amenities for the shower were all fair trade which I liked. The WiFi was excellent, indeed I worked in the room during one of my days stay and relaxed there both evenings and had no issues with the speed or the connectivity at all. Top marks. I was on a business trip and stayed 2 nights but I would not hesitate to go back to the hotel for a city break with my wife. Highly recommended.

It is a teaching hotel and the staff seem not to communicate with each other. Rooms are comfortable and the hotel has style and charm. Location is good, near Museumplien and tram at the front door.
We paid 22 euros each for breakfast to be included. Being an Italian themed restaurant, Ferelli's, the food was far below par. On our first evening, we sat at the bar and asked to order some snacks, were told it was impossible because the kitchen was very busy with booked tables. Sat there for 2 hours and only saw five tables being served! Breakfast was awful. Only an assortment different unidentified tasteless cheeses, nothing typical dutch, Strings of cherry tomatoes, and some bread. Asked for a hot breakfast which we were offered, waited 45 minutes, nothing came. Asked again, told sorry breakfast is finished. They need to abandon this horrible restaurant concept and hire a whole new team. I watched two wedding events this weekend and both had very sub par food served.

We had father's day dinner at the restaurant and sat outside in their lovely courtyard. We ate at the lounge chair area which was perfect for us with three kids because it was more casual than the table tops. Food good, service spotty. Really beautiful historic building with garden.

Read my other reviews which many people have, I always look for the positive and give the benefit of the doubt. However I must warn you NOT TO BOOK this hotel.
We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary and stayed on 6th April to 9th April 2017.
Arrived at 10:00 registered and booked in luggage. Came back at 15:00 as agreed to be told there was a mistake with our room. we had been allocated 117 when we registered in the morning. At 17:00 we were shown to our room 123. we found out that there was a housekeeping issue, no one told us or kept us up to date or offered any refreshment while we waited.
We went to the terrace and a had a drink, nice staff great drinks. we booked in the restaurant for 19:30 and were told that we would be given a free drink for our room cleaning problem. Arrived in restaurant at 19:30 nice waiter engaged us in conversation only to be removed from our table (physically removed) by a man in a white suit and bow tie who then allocated someone else to take our order. 45 minutes later after asking on a number of occasions our drinks had still not arrived and there was no sign of any food, not even bread for the table. At 20:30 we complained and left, we still had not had a drink and there was still no food. The following evening we sat outside ordered a drink and again waited for 45 minutes. Decided to not eat in the restaurant but ordered room service instead which was ok.
The room was tired, with the shower door off its hinges and more importantly the electics where dangerous. two bathroom lights on the mirror did not work and on closer inspection had burnt out and where loos in the fitting. All lamps in the room where unplugged and when we plugged them in plugs ejected across the room with sparks flying.
We paid in total just over 900 euros for two nights with food and drinks, I feel completely ripped off. I am so angry that I paid them money and they couldn't offer me a basic service and a bit of civility.
Some of the younger members of staff where nice but this is a hotel that has no leadership and no shame in ripping you off. No one has apologised. my recommendation is that you avoid this hotel.response / report this review -
