The first hotel when I arrived in Europe the first time (Apr 2010), the hotel was still called "Best Western Leidseplein Hotel". Overall was okay but quite noisy between midnight to 2/3 am and not sure from where, but because i open the window. Room was good but small. But I can never forget the breakfast. I love the chocolate croissants and chocolate milk there. I cant stop!!!!

The hotel is centrally located and breakfast is OK. They claim it was recently refurbished but difficult to see. The lifts are old, carpets muggy and the room furnishings are also old. Breakfast was good but pretty basic. The staff at reception and service staff were often loud and obnoxious when having their breakfast smack in the middle of customers. They would talk loudly in Dutch much to my annoyance. Service staff should be seen not heard. Basic hospitality principles.

Overall we had good experiences. We travelled with 1.5 year old toddler. The room was big and comfy and travel cot was provided. Location is really good for a hotel outside the central town and it's walking distance from tram bus ,canal boat, and lots of food places. Staff was helpful and let us store the straller in luggage room.
Only negative was that there was a bit of smell in the toilet all through the trip and two days in the row the coffee/tea was not replenished but we were given it when we asked.
Also rooms are not sound proof to today's standards.response / report this review -

My room was changed to basement floor and it was very smell from a bathroom. Keycards didn't work well. Nevertheless, location was good. Room was clean and reception was very nice.

I requested a room on the upper side but I didn't get the room. But it was a nice stay. Room was really good. Near to the public transportations. I will strongly recomend this hotel.

It's a very nice hotel, in general. Lobby very well decorated, helpful and kind attention of receptionists, excellent and assorted breakfast (16 euros per person, not included).
Rooms with air conditioner, wide bed, TV with tens of channels, and a little refrigerator. Bathroom with hot water, electric hair dryer, and a tiny shower room. The laundry service is very expensive: washing one coat is like 12 euros.
In the stories, for getting the room, you have to climb like five big steps. Carpets look old.
It's very near of the Museum Quarter, an for going to Dam Square, you can use trams 1, 2 and 5.response / report this review -

I was impressed with the room that we got. It was way better than what I thought we was going to get. 20 minute walk into town. Price was ok considering I only booked 10 days before I came to Amsterdam. Would stay again next time I'm in town. Most definitely

I'm not sure why this hotel has so many negative reviews. The location is fantastic and I thought the cost was very fair. Breakfast buffet wasn't amazing but as far as a hotel breakfast goes it was good to me. Rooms may be a little small but they were clean and comfortable. Maybe recently remodeled?
All in all, I would recommend to a friend or stay here again.response / report this review -

The hotel was very nice. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is walking distance to museums and restaurants. I would stay there again.

The hotel is great, clean, updated rooms, friendly staff and affordable. There is some noise from construction and the street at night in the area but for the most part its quiet.

We stayed for 3 nights and payed over 200 euro per night. First we got a filty room in the cellar where there was a renovating going on. We asked for another room and got one who weren't clean or hadn't changed sheets. We went away during the cleaning and came back during the night and they still had not changed sheets or done anything to clean up. We recived a third room for where we stayed for the night. They changed sheets every day but didn't vaccium or clean anything else. The room remeind dusty and filty. I stayed in many hostel cleaner then this. I would not stay here agian.

Rooms were quite small and some staff were less than helpful while others were great. The drain in the shower was very slow so you were standing in a puddle when you shower.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was expensive, we thought we were paying over 200 euros a night for a nice place to stay. It was dreadful! The staff were rude and would not help us. Our room was filthy, the floors were caked with dirt and the shower did not drain properly so you had to stand up to your ankles in dirty water while taking a shower. Everything was dirty. We were there for 4 nights and not once did they clean our room or give us fresh towels even though we asked. we had to go down to the front desk and ask someone for towels and toilet paper.
This is more like a hostel experience. Do not Stay here if you are looking for something nice and enjoyable. So disappointed.response / report this review
