when i first arrive everything went smoothly however i was shocked that the parking of the hotel is not owned by the hotel so they recommended for safety and security reasons another parking around 5 minutes walk with price tag 55 euros a day, i stayed for 4 nights and the cost almost half of my hotel fees, when i got to my room it was obvious that the pictures doesn't match the real room basically it was fraud, its not like the photos had any similarity to the real room not color not condition, the thing that surprised me most is a missing curtain exposing me and my family to the main street after talking to the hotel staff they said it is noted and will pass the information and thanks for being very helpful!, be careful of the mini bar its sealed and it should stay that way as they hold on your credit card for 50 euro for the mini bar as they check it daily it is a bit annoying, for an outdated hotel and high price plenty of other option available nearby
The location is great, close to everything shopping and pubs&clubs. The rooms are nice, not so fancy but good enough if you are coming to spend time out and not indoor. They should be cleaner then they are on my opinion.
Really bad hotel, I had a mouse in my room and was not offered a new proper room except 3 days later. I was only offered a much smaller room. hotel needs renovations. Day one I arrived even before checking in a guy got robed of his bank in the lobby of the hotel and the manager was not properly assisting the guy. The fire alarm went off and asked for evacuation and when we go all the way down they tell us its a false alarm instead of announcing it to the rooms for people not to panic. I stayed 14 days and wished that I didn't make that booking. Location is the ONLY upside for this hotel. location was perfect.
Overall my experience at the Calton was pleasant, the staff were very friendly and helpful to any requests we had. The room had very comfy bed and standard extras, however wasn't very clean and could smell smoke on all the fabrics. Over all was perfect for just sleeping in and price was reasonable.
Great Central location but certainly not for the faint hearted. A very tired looking and feeling hotel. The rooms have a very strong musky smell about them and though I was upgraded to a suite I stayed here in fear of developing legionaries disease. The white bath tub needs a good deep clean with strong chemicals.
The gentleman at check-in was absolutely fabulous and super accommodating bit there was only so much he could do to help me feel comfortable in this central located hotel. I've stayed at NH hotels before and had a certain expectation in mind which was grossly missed
I was at this hotel in October 2014. The hotel is very close to the center and the receptionists are very polite. Our room was clean and the view was beautiful. Breakfast and especially the variety of cheese was great. Amsterdam is a wonderful city and if I go again I will definitely choose this hotel. I think it was enough in every respect.
Beautiful reception area. The carpet and decor in the room was very dated but nonetheless clean. The amenities in the bathroom were good and the hotel was kind enough to make some special touches to the room when I told them it was my anniversary
Only stayed one night but was very happy. Room was comfortable, food was good and the staff were outstanding. Only negative was that the king bed was two singles pushed together, complete with separate duvets. Didn't matter since I was travelling alone, but would have been uncomfortable if my wife was with me.
Terrible cheap service, there is not such thing as feee wifi and the paid one is bad as well, the heating is broken, it just doesn't heat but makes a lot of noises, restaurant service is good and the foot is good but expensive the TV has only like 20 channels and the half of them are news
No Price Value Relation at all. My room had a dirty floor, a broken TV, silverfish es in the bathroom and no Internet at all. And I paid 245€. One of the worst hotel experiences I ever made I Europe. Only the breakfast was OK.
Good location , everything you would like to go is in walking range 15 mins maximum.
Helpful staff , nice rooms.
Asking for a €50 deposit for the mini bar at check in , I must look dodgy,
breakfast all you can eat but wouldn't give any of it to my dog.
The room it's self was clean warm and modern.
Avoid this place. Expensive, long lines to check in, dark not comfortable rooms and not clean. Staff not attentive at all. Rooms with two bed put together are sold as king size. Its good location cannot compensate. Never again.
