You get what you pay for. The rooms were clean and tidy and supprisingly comfortable. However the bathrooms were very small and a little cramped. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I was pleased to be able to leave luggage in the designated room passed checkout
A good budget hostel for Amsterdam, I just wish the toilets were bigger as they are simply not big enough. I would stay again if it's the right price. The place was also clean and the beds comfy. it's not far from the centre, just 10 minutes by tram .
Was exactly what was needed. Good value, clean rooms and helpful staff. The shared toilet could have been a little bigger on the third floor however. Other than that, great stay.
Had a pleasant stay at the hostel, the staff was very friendly. Naturally since it is one of the very cheapest hostels in Amsterdam, the rooms are small. But still everything was clean and the wifi was decent. There are a fridge and a water heater to use for everybody, so that's a plus
This is by far the WORST hostel I've stayed in!
First of all it's expensive and quite far from the city center. The hostel wreaks on every floor and there are flies everywhere. The security lockers don't work with most locks, so you'll probably have to rent one of their locks. And the stairs are very narrow, so you'll probably trip getting up to your floor every time.
The above issues are all minor though. What really makes this hostel bad are it's bathroom facilities and the invasiveness of its staff
There are only 1 or 2 toilets and showers per floor. Every morning, at least one toilet would be clogged with waste and wouldn't be usable again until night time. The stench spread throughout the floor and made standing in the hallways unbearable. The showers were just as bad. One morning a girl was taking a shower and she got locked in. She was screaming for help for about 15 minutes before another traveler and I heard her screams, and we had to use a screwdriver to unlock her from the outside.
I booked the same bed for 3 nights. On the second day, I came back to find my stuff packed and moved from my room to another room! They didn't tell give me any notice and left a bunch of my stuff in the other room! When I confronted the guy at the reception, he told me that I was guaranteed a bed for 3 nights but not a bed in the same room. A group was coming in that day and they wanted to be together, so he wouldn't prevent them from rooming together just because I was there. If that was the case, he shouldn't have put me in that room in the first place! On top of that, nobody from the hostel made any attempt to contact me about this, and yes, they had my phone number and email.
Under no circumstances should you stay in this hostel. They have no hesitation about invading your privacy and have no sanitary standards.
This place is a tight squeeze but is cheap and in a great location. The staff are polite and helpful. The rooms can be hot so open a window. There is a smoke room far away from the dorms so there is no smell.
Not a great hostel Right from the first moment in this hostel, not great. The service desk receptionist took a really long time to even acknowledge me, and when you're trying to check in after a long day of travel that's the opposite of what you want. The rooms are small and packed with small beds. The beds are pretty comfortable but they're very small, and they're too tightly packed. The rooms are also very smelly, and kind of gross Like not exactly dirty, but you kind of just want to avoid touching things too much. The lockers are tiny, too small to put anything in, and I know this isn't anything against the hostel, but the people in my room seemed a little sketchy, the kind of people you'd want to lock your stuff up around. The bathrooms are small and pretty gross. Overall, not terrible, but I would recommend finding another hostel if you have the choice. It's also very out of the way of most interesting parts of Amsterdam
Great place to stay a few nights on a budget. Friendly staff and everything you need is close by. Steep stairs were fine even on the top floor if you are fit. The toilets really are a tight squeeze as others have mentioned. I had read reviews before going and was still shocked at how tight a squeeze you need to get in. My wardrobe is about the same size as the toilet. I would be happy to stay there again and had a great few days.
Staff are friendly and the rooms are a good size, only down side is the steep steps
Good Location, close to the train station or 15 minute tram ride to the city center. Refurbished rooms in good shape for a reasonable price, can't ask for more!
After having read all the reviews, I was frightened, but when I saw my room I was very happy. The room is clean they have me a bed in a 4 need dormitory even though I booked a room in 8-bed dormitory. I am giving 4 stars because of the stairs at the entrance.
This place was perfect. Clean beds, clean bathroom, nice staff, and inexpensive.
Good hostel, with a great coffeeshop only a block and a half away. It's cheap and has nice rooms, however you're paying a low fare(you should expect something clean but simple) and if your bags are heavy you'll need to climb long stairs at the entrace. The bathroom was clean in the morning and the staff is really helpful.
