Beautiful place, family friendly! The location is a little ways from town, but they do have a free shuttle. The resort is located by a jungle forested area so the environment is nice and quiet. The location really can’t be beat. The staff does a great job with being bilingual- they are much better than we are! I really appreciated the reliable power and Wifi as we work remotely and need internet to run our business. We would definitely come back.

What a time!!! Very cool and original resort. It has a skatepark just a few meters from the bar. The bar and pool is in the middle of the resort.while everything surrounds it (condos, villas, restaurant, etc Kind of like an oasis in the middle of the jungle.but its only like a couple minutes from town. Overall, great times had with all the staff, guests. I guess they have new management, dont know what the old one was like but man, very good times had!

I spent the week at Surf Ranch, as a solo traveler, it was great because I got to know many other people. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, the pool and of course the rooms. The resort was full most the time I was there, always something fun to do, I recommend to everyone.

They offer lots to do here.. they have a skatepark on location, a pool, rock climbing wall. All kinds of activities to do at the hotel. Really enjoyed the food. Definitely recommend the bacon cheeseburger!! Amazing! Staff was great. Warm and welcoming. The AC in the room was much needed and worked great. Slept comfortably. Definitely recommend to anyone into sports and surf!! :)

The service sucks, me my dad and sister stayed here for one night and me and my sister were looking forward to doing the rock climbing. They told us the night before we could do it at 11 am the next day but then we we go to do it they tell us the guys isn’t here today. When I went to the bar to get a drink the bartender was not there. On the paper where you have to sign it says that kids 12 and under are free but then they make up some excuse that that is for something else. We went the night before to check the price for 3 people and they said $115 for the all inclusive for 3 people but then the next day they say it’s only for 2 people. There are only 4 non alcoholic drinks coke, water, iced tea and coffee all the rest you have to pay for. I do not recommend this place to anybody, if I could I would’ve put 0 star.

Not as advertised , poor building maintenance no safe deposit boxes. No emergency planing. Too expensive for the location . Poor management. Play the same music every day until 11:00 pm. No one available late at night. I got sick here late evening and had to wait until mid morning for an ambulance. Were always out or something. They did upgrade me to a better room when i complained about the rocking tolet and broken door lock. They do not give refunds so you can move to another hotel.and it in the middle of a cow pasture after you drive through a river. I would not recommend this hotel.

Before we stayed at the Surf Ranch ocean view mansions on the emerald coastwe stayed here at their first resort for a few nights. Amazing oasisrooms were super cleanbrand new duvet covers, we liked the Netflix smart TVs, hot water, a/c, fast internet.great time had with all the staff, especially the bartenders Katherine, Oscar, and Franklin. I really like the surf ranch conceptand after seeing them step up their game at their new resort with their ocean view mansions, I am excited to see the future of the surf ranch brand.

Do not recommend. How do you call yourself the surf ranch, and have nothing to do with surfing. They can provide shuttles to the beach, that’s it. For a fee, because everything is extra there. They advertise free shuttles to town, but they only have 3 a day and any other times it cost extra. The place looks nothing like the website. We had nicer $20 private rooms in hostels than this “resort.” Nothing works, wifi, TV’s, hot water. Expected a lot more, especially with the price of the rooms.

Deserted on a Wednesday afternoon. Had the place all to ourselves. Essential visit for skaters, the best local skatepark is here and is free. The prices for activities and food/drink reflect their "resort" ethos. The michelada was tangy and a must for any beer adventurer.

This resort was AWFUL. We paid for the all "inclusive" passes which we're more like all "exclusive." Our menu was EXTREMELY limited (I am talking all food options were between two to three options as well as drink options.) The pool was NASTY. We had to ask to get the pumps turned on and it was obvious no filter was being used. The rock wall was closed, the restaurant was closed, the paintball arena wasyou guessed itclosed. The service was terrible we were constantly having to go up and ask for refills, where each time they had to ask our room number (even though again we were all inclusive and we're probably 2 out of the 6 people there.) The public was allowed in without charge to use the pool and other amenities (nothing really was open beside the pool so not much) but what were we paying for then? To serve ourselves and stay in a bug infested room with dirty sheets and towels? Will NEVER return.

Spent tree nights at the Surf Ranch Resort and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel has a swim up bar! Room was big, hot water, clean and balcony. Really good value for money and the location is in a quiet area away from party area. Breakfast was amazing every morning and the 2 for 1 cocktails area great! Would stay again for sure.

Amazing place to stay. Great value and even a free shuttle service into town. It was relaxing and the staff were attentive. Big rooms and nice balcony with TV's, great air conditioning, and showers. No complaints and would highly recommend. Thanks Surf Ranch, see you again one day!

Awful reception, no welcoming, and this place was far from a resort. The pictures on their website are fake and retouched. Its very run down. On the way in there was a dead tarantula that was left there for days, and my room was full of ants, a wasps nest above the shower, and I found two scorpions under my towel. The blankets were also stained with blood and had so much dust my sisters asthma acted up. I don't recommend this place to anyone. They wouldn't even give us our money back. Its not a good representation of the great country that Nicaragua is.

We had an awesome time staying at Surf Ranch! The resort itself is beautiful and well maintained, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is great and affordable, and there are free shuttles into town. I definitely want to come back!

An incredible all-inclusive experience close to the beaches of San Juan del Sur. Great food, swim up bar, tasty cocktails and relaxing tunes. There is free shuttle into town if you need it a few times a day and they can help arrange trips further afield too. A nice alternative to the dirty and chaotic San Juan town and certainly the best 4 days we stayed in Nicaragua

The positive: Surf Ranch is very nice. We had a villa and it was beautiful and the AC makes sleeping a lot easier. The pool is small but very refreshing with a bar to sit at. The location is nice and quiet, about 10 mins away from the town. They have a shuttle that will take you to and from the town to the hotel 3 times a day. They have a skate park which is open to all local people in the area which I think is awesome. The younger people that do come and skate are very respectful and quiet. There's howling monkeys in the forest behind the resort which are really cool.

The Negative: We had the all inclusive. Breakfast is eggs and beans (gets old fast). No other options. There are about 6 or 7 options for lunch which is nice. Dinner is your choice of chicken or beef or fish with potatoes and veggies. After eating that for 2 days I was done. I then purchased my dinners from the restaurant so I could have a little variety. I ordered a sandwich and the server said mayo was going to cost extra. I got mad and got my way because that's absolutely ridiculous. They portion their sides so if you want extra fries, you're paying for it (total crap). If you wanted to take a bottle of pop or water to your room they charged you.
Our first day there the drink service was very slow. We would order a drink and have it 20 - 30 mins later and it wasn't very strong. We complained to the manager and that got fixed right away. Our service was dead on and the drinks were good!! Second day in something went wrong with the plumbing and our toilet wouldn't flush (super gross).

We sat down for dinner with the owner Lukas and told him exactly what we thought and what things needed improvement. He listened to all our ideas with an open mind and genuinely appreciated it. Very nice guy and HE BOUGHT US DINNER!

All in all, I will go back to Surf Ranch. I'll wait a couple years and give it another shot because it has the potential to be amazing and they are so close to already being there. I would honestly recommend going. It was a fun time minus a few little things. No resort is perfect and these guys are working on it. if you're looking to just relax and hang out this place is great. Little windy, but winds nice in 37 deg celsius.

Very disappointed with the Surf Ranch. I read all the reviews on google before making a decision on staying there. I found some of the poor reviews odd since the place looks amazing on the website, and has some really cool features. Unfortunately when I got there the place was a ghost town. The villa that I had was very unclean, the bed coverings had stains on them, and there was a lot of bugs in the room. The layout of the room was awful, and had a horrible vibe. I checked in and checked out within an hour, I was very disappointed in this place. Then to add to the disappointment I had booked for two nights and was charged for both nights even though I did not stay. There is a reason this place was empty, its a dump! Take my word for it (and the other bad reviews) and do not stay here.

Misleading all-inclusive offer, tiny selection of food/drinks, no lunch/dinner buffet, no repeat meal orders, no flexible order times. No free beach shuttles or surf boards. Good for skaters, decent wifi and pretty good cocktails however
