    My review for the restaurant:

We were looking for something to eat after arriving in SJDS. We came there around 3pm. Nobody was eating there, so we were a bit reluctant at first.

We had the quinoa salad ($6) and the egg burrito ($3,50). Both were tasty and well done, with the burrito more filling than the salad (I guess that’s the purpose of a salad).

Since it was happy hour we couldn’t resist ordering two Piña Coladas for $5 in total. They were fresh, served without straws to reduce waste. Good thing!

For a touristy place it was delicious and very affordable!

I really enjoyed my stay here! Quiet at night, but close to the action. Best dorm I've stayed in, as all the beds have privacy curtains which makes a big difference. Lots of free purified water as well! Thanks for being great and affordable. I'd stay here again.

Amazing view blacony rooms are great. Environment friendly one of the only hostels in the area like it. Their free breakfast is perfect after a night at one of the club's or surfing. Rooms are spacious and comfortable hammocks and chairs in the Common rooms. Try the mojito at happy hour

Stayed here twice now. The layout downstairs has changed since my first stay in January 2016. They now have a cafe/bar. The communal kitchen has either moved or been removed entirely.
The staff is great and you can choose from a solid variety of surfboards to rent.
The location is perfect just one block from the beach in the middle of San Juan.
The bunk beds in my dorm had curtains for privacy.

Don't bother going here , not the nicest of places nor the nicest of staff. They do not treat you well. We had a man banging on our door at one am asking for money for the night , which we were told when we checked in that we would have to pay the rest when we checked out (we had already paid for one night during left a deposit ). To make matters they charged us $10 for a towel that was dirty , and the server gave me old milk for my coffee not to mention he served with an attitude . Also this place is extremely loud , good luck trying to sleep in , you can do better with your money . They obviously don't care about their residents nor their staff, because there is a reason why they are so nasty.

We only went there for dinner. Lobster for only $10!! Look the beautiful plate!! The garlic better in the middle was perfect with it. The best meall for the trip. They had a cheap beer and quick service too. Highly recommended.

The staff is very friendly and provides a lot of information about shuttles, especially to the beaches.
The wifi is very fast for Nicaragua.
The downside is that the private rooms in the 1st floor are very dark and without hot water. There are better options in town for the same price

Myself and a friend booked this hostel for 5 nights based on some good reviews and nice pictures we'd seen of the dorm rooms. When we arrived at the hostel we were initially very happy with our choice but sadly after two nights here we realised that the hostel is infested with bed bugs. My friend woke up in the morning with bites all over her legs, her face and ear. We've had bed bugs before in our own flat at home and we know the signs. Along with several bites the sheets had dark blood stains on them. Not only our beds but many others in the 3 dorms rooms we checked. When explaining this to a member of staff she was initially very apologetic but insisted we could stay in another room. We were shown two private rooms and found actual baby bed bugs in each. The staff told us it was not bed bugs but we refused to take any of the rooms because we know it was. We were told we could only get back 50% of our money back for the additional nights we had book. Only through repeatedly insisting for our money back were we refunded the full price. While we were waiting for our money we spoke to two other girls, one of whom had bites all over her body as well. Do not stay here. They are doing nothing to tackle the problem. We had high hopes for this place and sadly it completely disappointed.

I can't believe that a hostel that charges 10 usd/night does not provide power outlets for guests in the upper beds. There's is basically no place in the dorm where you can charge your devices securely: you either leave them on the beds downstairs or you need to go somewhere else in the hostel and stay with your phone till it charges (the ground floor is a restaurant where everyone can come in so it's not secure). Which is a veeery long time since Nicaragua has 110 V. It's not like it would be hard for them to provide some extension cords.

One of the nicer places to eat in San Juan Del Sur.

Most of the staff speaks great English and the food is great (all day breakfast!)

We only ate at the restaurant and didn't stay the night, but it looked like a nice place to stay. There was a chalkboard with all the nearby beaches and their own rating system that I found super helpful. This also seems to be one of the most popular spots to rent surfboards from.

Great atmosphere and well priced dorms - the person below saying staff were aggressive? I don't believe that for a second, all were extremely friendly.
If I had one issue it would be a few bugs getting around the bedroom and bathrooms but it was expected considering how open it is and also the recent tropical storm.
The free breakfast was the best I've ever had! I stayed 2 nights and one morning it was eggs pico de gallo beans herbs etc on top of a tasty tortilla, the next morning it was french toast with fresh fruit.
All plated like you were eating at a nice restaurant, the ladies in the kitchen are great cooks and very friendly!
I would suggest eating away from the outside if you don't want to be disturbed by locals trying to sell you stuff from the street
Would recommend and will definitely return!

We used the shuttle to playa maderas and bought return tickets. As we had a hostel reservation for two nights we asked twice Wetherby the ticket will be valid in two days (I am fluent in Spanish, so definitely no misunderstandings), the lady at the desk who sold us the ticket confirmed twice. On the way back the driver told us the return ticket was expired. When we arrived at casa the oro the lady who sold us the ticket denied that she was the one. After discussing with the "encargado" everything was ok. However, we had to make our point almost five times before they were willing to let is go. Not the best attitude for such a central institution in town.

Mixed feelings about this hostel. Good breakfast and the best shuttle service there is in town. The dorms are fine and private rooms are also pretty clean. But the service is something else, except for the woman working in the kitchen the staff is unfriendly, even aggressive at some times. They also charged us unofficial exchange rates. Sad.

DO NOT USE THE WEBSITE TO BOOK. I mostly enjoyed my stay here, though there's no kitchen or rooftop bar as described and the breakfast is small but otherwise a decent hostel. My real problem was that mastercard have flagged this merchant as fraudulent and now my credit card was cancelled on the spot. This is not ok.

Lovely clean hostel, friendly staff, nice restaurant with small but tasty menu with good vegetarian options (the yellow curry and Dahl were both very good and my boyfriend had the Korean Fried Wings which he enjoyed). The dorms are nice and airy with good fans and privacy curtains on the beds, large lockers under the beds and lots of space. Our room had a nice balcony and there are hammocks and tables on the upper floors to chill out, or there is the bar/restaurant downstairs where you can sit too. We ended up extending our stay here and would definitely return here.

Cute place. Good price & included breakfast. Easy to arrange shuttle to the surfing beach & you can rent surfboards from them. The wifi went down one morning. Close enough to walk to the beach & around town.

Good chilled out hostel. rates are good for dorms, way too much for private rooms but still a great place. Super friendly staff and very trustworthy. Accidentally left cash on the counter and they kept it aside for me to collect it. Wasn't ever worried about leaving my things out either. And very clean place for the amount of traffic through it.
Also their shuttle services across the country make it a lot easier and very decent rates on shuttles.

The place was refurbishing so can't comment on the hostel but they also do board hire and they ask for your passport and to go through a some crazy paper work before you can rent a surf board for a day. When they asked me for my passport I immediately turned around and went to the next surf rental on the same street. All other surf rentals are much more easy going. You walk in, select your board, pay $10 for a day and off you go. Not sure why they stressed so much, their boards were just as good as anyone elses.
