UPDATE: Wah Wah Beach Bar closed permanently on March 14, 2018 (per a post from the owners). It was a great pace and we visited many times over the years since they opened. The owners re-located away from Mexico for retirement and chose to not renew the lease.
What's NOT awesome about Wah Wah Beach Bar? Nothing.
Best Playa del Carmen beach location? Yep. Largest palapa on the the beach? Yep. Fantastic daily specials including two for one delicious Margaritas? Yep. Delicious Sunday Buffet at a reasonable price? Yep. Friendly staff and safe? Yep. Awesome musical entertainment? Yep. Involved and nice owners? Yep. Clean rest rooms? Yep. Free chairs on the beach? Yep. When we're in Playa del Carmen, which in 2013 was 25 nights, our favorite place on the beach is Wah Wah Beach Bar.response / report this review -

Great place. 95 pesos a drink- I had a pina colada- kinda watered down but not bad. Perfect spot nice music. Get there early it’ll be filled by 11

It's on the beach so it's pricey. However the fish and shrimp tacos are delicious! Best tacos I've ever had. For four tacos it's $180 pesos. And the beer is $50 pesos each which is more than usual. We can find places that are about $40 pesos/beer. Less than $3.00 Canadian!

They offer free chairs, wifi and bathroom if you order drinks or food. Food is very good. The staff is attentive without being obnoxious

Great bar, with live music, tables outside actually on the beach which provides a great atmosphere, the prices are a bit expensive but that is just because it is Playa Del Carmen. Food is good, not anything overly amazing but it’s nice enough

The fried pickles are amazing. You can choose to lounge on the beach in a beach chairs under an umbrella or sit inside the restaurant with the unique sand covered floors. Live music too!

Nice beach club next to the Ferry station. The place serves food and drinks a bit pricy. Their lounge chairs are not the most comfortable.

This is the worst beach bar in playa del Carmen, the waiters are trying to shove beverages or food to give you a table The prices are high even to the average prices in playa del Carmen. Better if you avoid this place

Great beach bar venue. The live music was pretty good. The coconut shrimp was awesome. Minus one star because the beach beds were too crowded together. Still, as a Playa resident I'll gladly be back.

Great place to sit and enjoy the day. Bands play regularly with some great local talent. The food is good with lots of choices. Friendly and helpful staff.
