I recently returned from a 4-night stay at TRS Yucatan, and I am a bit conflicted about how to rate the resort (and I say this after having stayed at several all-inclusives in the area, ranging from budget-friendly to upscale). The short summary is that there were several positives and I do see potential, but I would not consider this a 5-star resort. While none of my issues would have been major as a stand-alone, they were numerous and consistent, and most of them relate to the level of service. While almost every single employee I met was friendly and hard-working, it is clear that they are understaffed and lacking solid and consistent training. There were definitely a few standouts, but this is the exception, and not the norm. To be clear, I do not fault the front-line employees for this- there seem to be disconnects at the management level. That being said, the rooms were modern and spacious, and Helios (beach club) serves some of the best food I have had at an all-inclusive resort. They also serve top-shelf liquor, have ample seating in pool and beach areas, and offer the best evening entertainment I have *ever* seen at a resort outside of Vegas in the form of Chic Cabaret. I would recommend TRS Yucatan with caveats, as long as you know what to expect. If you are looking for a truly upscale, 5-star experience, you won't find it here.
My favorite Riviera maya hotel so far,
Luxurious and affordable at the same time, services is great and the dinner-show is worth it.
The food anywhere you go is going to be delicious
4.5 stars. This was the best vacation of my life but there are some small changes that property management definitely needs to implement.
First, the positives: the location, the amenities, the rooms were all fantastic. The junior suite with private pool was beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and the air conditioning/TV/fridge/shower/sinks were all perfect. The bars and restaurants were fantastic and the food and drink was great. Not always amazing, but it's all inclusive so when you can have unlimited amounts of it, you can't expect it to live up to fine dining gourmet meals. That said, some of the highlights were fondue at La Boheme, chicken empanadas at El Gaucho, crepes at La Dalia (technically located in White Sands I believe), and the lunch buffet selection at Helios. I don't drink, but those who do can get as many shots of Patron or whatever top shelf liquor they desire. There were also plenty of activities, including snorkeling (we couldn't partake due to wind), tennis, basketball, volleyball and the spa, Zentropia, was fantastic, the gym was decent (only complaint is no squat racks), and the infinity pool was breathtaking.
The negatives: Disorganization. We made appointments through one staff then asked a followup question to another, and it took an awkward ~10 minutes for that staff to track down info. Just have a central CRM where you can put notes for each guest, that would be quite simple. So that the new concierge can just enter my name and see in the notes section that the other concierge booked us for the cooking lessons at this time and this location. Simple. Instead when I asked where our cooking lessons were I had to watch the concierge call 6 different people. Also, in the TRS lobby we asked where Tentazione was and were sent to White Sands, as they must have been thinking of Portofino, which is also an Italian restaurant, where we were told to go back to the TRS lobby, as Tentazione is right next to it. A little frustrating.
So, ultimately, as amazing as the trip was, I call this a "4.5 stars" review because the resort's pricing is reflective of VIP service, and the customer experience often runs into very lacklustre service. Along with a central CRM with guest notes, it would be ideal if a more intensive training regimen was required of new hires. That may just not be feasible given the number of employees and the apparent turnover (many, many times we heard "this is my first day"), but it is probably required to make this a true 5 star experience when it comes to the level of service.
More of a couples retreat. Very high class. Staff are attentive and amazing
Really nice place Part of larger resort grounds and the car service is required as everything is a far walk. Food is great at trs part itself. Still a few kinks to be worked out, but well on the way to a wonderful place.
I had a wonderful time
TRS Yucatan Hotel is Just beautiful.
My 12 time in Grand Palladium and Ready to go back💚Thank You
Staying for our honeymoon! So far the service is fantastic and the food is great! Will update more later after our stay!
Wonderful staff and great clean rooms!
Great stay. I wish the resort had a designated company to transfer to and from the airport. We had issues with our transport on they way there (even though they were set up with the help of the hotel).
Excellent customer service and beautiful resort. If you stay at the Royale Lobby ask for Jessica. She is great!!!
This resort charged us twice for our stay, a pure mistake I'm sure. The problem is they said it would take 8days for the refund and I still am waiting (now almost 3 weeks later, and several emails that are unanswered so far). The customer service at check-in is pretty bad btw, they seem to treat you like you're a burden. My friend's baby never got a crib to her room, and her shower didn't drain, they basically got annoyed at her when she mentioned it to them in the morning, and said it was her responsibility to tell them at the point when the shower problem occurred well it was almost 11pm when it happened and their day had been delayed by late arrival to airport, and the hotel toook 1hour to check her in.
If you want a holiday that is enjoyable from beginning to end and not having to deal with $630 of overcharge that they don't want to return, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
A friend of mine stayed here in November 2016. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Here is her experience:

After some urging from friends I’ve decided to make a public post about my experience at The Royal Suites Yucatan by Palladium in Mexico. My husband and I were there from Nov 20th through Nov 27th, for what was supposed to be a dream vacation. We stayed in one of the Royal Mayan rooms, with the outdoor shower, and private deck. On Saturday Nov 26th, we returned to our room after spending the afternoon in the pool. I decided to use the private outdoor shower, to get the pool water out of my hair. I removed my swimsuit and started to wash my hair. While washing my hair I noticed in the reflection of the door that leads to the bathroom, that an EMPLOYEE has scaled the approx. 8ft wall and was watching me shower. I was instantly frozen in terror. I went inside an alerted my husband. He alerted the hotel security and the front desk. They sent security to come look around the outside of our room. I quickly got dressed and waited for someone to come speak with us. No one came. After an hr, I finally felt calm enough to go to the front desk myself and see what was being done. There I was introduced to Lucida, the manager that was on duty at the time. I asked her what was being done, and she said they have started an investigation, but given my description she confirmed it was an employee and that she could run the codes to see who had opened the door in the suite next to ours to be able to have access to scale the wall. I was told it would take 72 hrs for the investigation to be complete. At that time I asked Lucida to call the police as I would like to file a report, that’s when she told me that the police ARE NOT WELCOME THERE because its private property, and they have to be invited. It was like I was slapped. I was also told that I would be welcome to go to the police station myself and file a report but it wouldn’t be likely the police would investigate, and they would still need to be invited on the property. I immediately called my local travel agent, and with her help I was put in touch with the resorts Transat vacation rep, who then confirmed that the police are not welcome there. I was then told there is NOTHING I can really do other than file a report with my travel company when I returned to Canada. Given how I was treated, and the resorts lack of compassion for the situation, I’d like to warn others NOT to go to this resort, because CLEARLY its UNSAFE, and they do not have the their guests best interest. Please SHARE and warn others.
The Royal Suites Yucatan are a 5 star, adults only resort, part of the 5 resort Grand Palladium Riviera Maya complex. It is a beautiful eco-resort with numerous pools, and restaurant throughout but with a private pool and restaurant only for people staying at the Royal Suites. The rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious. Room service and private butler service are included. We completed our 11th fantastic visit in April 2016, and are returning again for 2 weeks in early winter. A 5 star experience all the way.
