ZERO STARS! WORST RESORT EVER! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
DIRTY ROOMS! NO TOWELS IN ROOMS, NO TV, NO IRON, NOTHING!
THE ROOM HAS A TERRIBLE SMELL. THE WHOLE RESORT IS DIRTY.
THE OCEAN VIEW ROOM. "VIEW IS A BRICK WALL!" BEHIND THE WALL THERE WERE HOMELESS PEOPLE CAMPING OUT!!!
THE BEACH IS NOT PRIVATE. ONLY LOCALS. BEACH IS LITTERED WITH SEAWEEDS THAT LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE!
LONG STORY SHORT, THE PLACE IS NOTHING LIKE IN THE PHOTOS.

Let me add, we travel a lot, and we have seen a lot of places.
NOTHING as terrible as this DUMP!
What is the worst part. Is the way it is portrait online. The photos look beautiful online and everything looks great. Not to mention the price was $2,000.00 for 4 nights for 2 people! Not All Inclusive, Which I don't consider cheap. WE ONLY STAYED ABOUT 5 HOURS. WE LEFT TO ANOTHER RESORT. DID NOT EVEN CARE IF THAT THEY RUDELY REFUSED TO RETURN OUR MONEY. WE DID NOT EVEN FEEL SAFE THERE! TERRIBLENESS! RIP-OFF!

Overall a very pleasant experience. Great resort to be if you like the bungalow experience. Great vibes. The beach and the beach clubs nearby could get a little noisy during holidays times. Make great use of happy hour!

Far from the relaxing resort it's been advertised to be. This is the most expensive of all the hotels we've booked as part of our two week Mexico trip and this has been the worst. What was supposedly a relaxing end to our honeymoon is filled with very loud thumping music all day until early hours in the morning. This is not just some dancing music but very loud thumping music, enough to give you a headache. We have moved rooms 3x but the noise is the same in all rooms. One of the rooms they put us in had 2 dead cockroaches on the floor. The surroundings of the resort is beautiful but the beachfront is very poor. It's not a private beach and a lot of people who are not staying here are hanging around on the beachfront. There is a lot of seaweed on the sea. We booked the half board which we regret. After every "free meal", the waiter will ask you to sign. On the bill, it shows the amount of how much the free meal is plus any additional drinks (drinks are not free). There is a suggested tip on the bill starting from 15% of the full amount. For instance, on our first night we ordered a diluted mango juice and 1 local beer which costs 200 pesos and the bill is suggesting a minimum tip of 190 pesos!! Of course it's not mandatory but it really makes us uncomfortable. The resort will say that their website has an area mentioning any upcoming festivals but we booked months in advance and most people wouldn't look at the "music festivals" section of a website. Ignore the suggested tip on the bill, just tip the staff in cash with whatever you think is appropriate. Will definitely not go back, its been a hell of a stay and we can't wait to go home. To top it all off, we were sitting on our first day on our balcony and a man with a face masks starts fumigating to kill mosquitoes without realising we were sitting there. This was around 2 pm and we had to run inside our room as I started coughing. Mentioned to this reception who just said that the insecticide they use is "organic" so it wouldn't do us any harm. That's a great response, instead of apologising how would you feel if I start spraying insecticide on your face with no mask? Absolutely appalling.

Excellent service and nice and clean resort with very good restaurants. However, had to deduct one star as the beach in front of the hotel has literally disappeared. The terrace of one bungalow is already "in the air" as the sand below has been washed away (however I assume this bungalow is not for rent anymore).
Also prices of restaurants are quite high - esp compared to Mexican price levels. However quality of food may allow some premium (good burger and excellent tuna sandwich at Fuego). Over all we had a nice and relaxing stay but found prices a bit too high for what you get.

Decent vacation spot, but could be amazing if the details were managed better. The palapas were nice, but offer little to no noise protection from the clubs on both sides of the resort. Staff was very friendly, the food was good, but a little more effort could've made all the difference.

Just finished my 6th stay at Mahekal Beach Resort and I'm so sad to leave! Our concierge Oscar took great care of us. Always checking to see if we needed anything. Our breakfast and dinner server was Angel and he works so hard yet always made time to talk with us. He was so good to us! I have stayed in the lowest priced rooms and the most expensive room and the service and friendliness is always the same! This is a beautiful resort on the best beach! Why would we go anywhere else?

We went to Mahekal Beach Resort for our honeymoon a few weeks ago and I cant say enough about this place. It was beautiful, romantic and all of the staff were on point. They were all extremely friendly and went above and beyond our expectations. Being able to walk to local restaurants and stores was at major plus. Our room (penthouse #17) was gorgeous, the outdoor shower was awesome (the only one we used). We loved every minute of our stay.

Excellent service, friendly staff, food is first class. Was lucky to have the romantic dinner for two on the beach. The whole experience was 5 star. Loved our whole experience at this beautiful resort. Small enough to be personal, big enough to be private.

This is the finest resort I have ever been to. Everything is perfect from the food to the service. Each plant in the entire place is meticulously manicured daily which makes the place absolutely gorgeous. The concierge is absolutely wonderful and has helped make our trip perfect. We can walk out the front of the resort straight onto fifth avenue. My new wife and I could not be happier on our honeymoon! This is my first resort in Mexico but I have spoken to others who have stayed in many places here. They all said that this is by far the most luxurious of them all. If you plan a trip the the Mahekal then prepare to be blown away by the service. We feel like royalty! Best trip of my life.

This place has an awesome ambience. It's set up like a hut village. The rooms are clean, comfortable and most importantly Airconditioned. Everything is close at hand Restaurants, the beach, travel excursions, shopping on fifth street, etc. Oh, and pools are allover! I would definitely recommend this place to others!

The service and staff are amazing. The rooms are cozy and adorable while still having luxury and character. We were so impressed that we are planning our wedding here and so far the staff has been incredibly helpful. Everything is going smoothly and that is all thanks to the wedding coordinator Karla.

Love this place! Much better than any all inclusive resort. Two meals are included. They have a private beach that's beautiful and are walking distance from downtown. Very romantic!

Fantastic location and rooms. It feels rural but in 5 minutes you'll be walking to some great restaurants. Why go all inclusive when you can do that?

Went back for 5th anniversary after having gotten married at the resort. The upgrades and renovation have really added a lot to the property. So happy to see it has maintained it low key rustic vibe.

Please consider all reviews before booking.

$1300 per night for a beach house (room 131) *TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT*. Should have stayed in our originally booked beach view king room (room 53).

For $1300 they don't refresh your room. Used towels on the floor stay in the floor, water bottles are not replaced, coffee pods (nespresso) are not replenished, used water and coffee cups stay used and sand / hair on the floor stays there too. oh and don't forget the bugs/cockroaches. Those are your roommates!

Basically room service only re-makes your bed (dirty) and cleans out your trash cans.

Seriously! $1300/night!!!??? No Bueno.

Oh. And lights in our room and on the deck weren't working they spent 30 minutes while we had friends over trying to get them fixed.

So much for spending a ridiculous amount of money to have a place for you and your friends to relax in.

Other than the overpriced beach house, the resort is great!

Great food and pools! The beach tends to have a lot of seaweed - so it's better viewed from the pool deck. Be sure to grab one of the comfy chairs with the padding - about half our the cheap flimsy loungers.

Fuego restaurant is outstanding. Chef M. Prepared innovative traditionally flavored classics for our meal with heavenly aromas, colors and the sound of wood fired grill. Worth every penny!

This place was great. It was very much a minimalist resort so depending on your vibe just be warned. Everything was clean, food was good, beach was clean, and staff was attentive. If you want more hustle and bustle from your resort other options might be better but I can't recommend this place enough.
