We went to this resort to dive. We are time share owners this is one of our hotels. I was not happy with they way we were treated. The brought us up a back ally to dive center
The dive center was at the end of resort on beach. They don't have a pier so you have to swim out. There is a huge drop of and you walk back up on a sand bar and drop off again to swim to boat. The waves are big because of the drop off I think. But the dive team was great. Also pro-dive. Beautiful beach what we seen of it. My issue was the way we were treated. We got done with dive. I was wanting some water. I had to go to the bathroom after I got dressed and we had to go into the pro-dive shop to use the restroom. Was not able to get a drink until we got back to our hotel. We waited in the back of the hotel next to dumpster for our ride. Like we were not good enough to be in resort. I found this a huge insult considering we have spent around 60 thousand for this time share. I would expect our sister resorts we are not staying at to treat us better. But this was not the case. I won't be going back to this resort. These pictures are all I could get because we were not able to round the other side of dive center. We will still dive just using another dive center or renting a charter.
This is a first class resort! The food, along with the live music, is great. The suits are beautiful. The beach is an all day investment. It is close enough to Playa del Carmen to walk along the beach to visit. The staff will even serve you a cheese burger at 4 a.m. to make you happysay no moreMy wife and I had a blast!
Absolutely wonderful boutique resort. If you're looking for something that is targeted towards couples and romantic getaway.this is the perfect place. It's about spectacular food, outstanding service by the staff to ensure your stay is all about you and a ton of relaxationits not ultra chic but it's clean and quaint - if you're looking for activities and lots of people - the hustle and bustle - this is not the place. There's not many places where you will find a Michelin star executive chef on staff willing to prepare a tasting menu for you on a dime's noticethe staff at Royal Hideaway are there to make sure your stay is all about what you're looking for and want to do. We've just returned from our 7th visit and looking forward to our next visit experience! Keep up the great work Royal Hideaway Playacar!
Room is great, food is amazing, and the staff in the bars and restaurants are wonderful. Unfortunately you forget quickly about this because:
Their restaurant reservation system sucks, they do not have capacity to serve all their guests at a decent hour (we had supper tonight at 10 Pm) the concierge are stuck with this and can do nothing to help, the night manager only became helpful when I booked a meeting for the next day with the general manager. As there is no buffet service, you are stuck eating on their less than accommodating schedule or order room service They have issues accommodating couples and we were a party of 6
I did not pay an upgrade rate to be the last one served supper in the entire resort.
Pool area is constantly running out of towels and the water temperature in the shower is hard to control (either too hot or too cold),
.
Could not comment on their shows as I missed them all due to the restaurant schedule.
They have a management issue and unfortunately their understaffed personnel are stuck addressing all complaints.
Sadly, I will not recommend or ever come back.
RH is an incredible place to stay. Service, Hood, Fun - It's all trust,
But I would be remiss if I didn't mention what a wonderful experience we had at Chef Alejandro Sanchez's Table.
Couple of Highlights:
1. One of the top 3 meals I have ever had (6 or 12 courses your choice).
2. You are seated in a formal glass enclosed room that looks right at the kitchen
3. You can see the care that goes into every dish that is being prepared. (There is even a flat screen to watch a closer view of Chef Alejandro preparing your meal)
4. The wine pairings were thoughtfully served.
5. Chef Alejandro's kitchen is the cleanest kitchen you will ever see. Gordon Ramsey would be jealous.
6. The Chef is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet - I left feeling like I made a friend.
Ask your concierge to schedule a time and just do it. It cost a little money but you will not be disappointed.
8 day honeymoon here. Was beautiful and fantastic. The bartender Eduardo whom we saw just about every night made us feel very welcome and the manager Carlos saw us everyday to make sure we were having a good time. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation spot, this is the place. Will definitely return.
This establishment is the embodiment of perfection. From The Earth welcome to our departure, everyone made us feel as if we were their top priority. Jorge and the rest of the staff were phenomenal, and we cannot wait to return!
The villas are nicely tucked away and the entire grounds have a very peaceful and secluded feel. Make you dinner reservations prior to arrival for best times. All of the staff and most of the guests were happy and courteous. A perfect getaway for lovebirds. You will not be disappointed. The beach is immaculate. The concierge can be a tad hard to reach at times.
I had some trouble at check in, but I think it's because there was a very large group checking in at the same time (150+ people). My wife and I also had trouble finding a concierge the first night, which was a little annoying because reservations are required for most restaurants. That being said, I've really been enjoying myself. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. We are spending as much time as possible on the beach, which is well maintained and staffed. We've been told this is one of the best resorts in Playacar, and if have to agree so far. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel. Good food. Friendly staff. Beautiful pool area. We really liked it. But 1 bad point people are going at 6am to book their sunbed and coming back 2,3 or 4 hours after. Not nice for the guests that arrive at 7am or 8am to stay at the pool area. The GM should stop with this bad behaviour.
Wonderful resort! We've stayed in downtown Cancun and Riviera Maya before staying here and this location is beautiful. The resort is smaller, but there are hidden pools aside from the main 2. The staff is extremely courteous and welcoming. Spa services are excellent as well. All of the food is delicious including the room service. The rooms are beautiful and sizable. Every villa has a personal concierge that can have everything. Very convenient. We like visiting a different resort everytime we come down, but we may return to this one.
This is a wonderful place to reconnect with your significant other. The resort is beautiful and the beach is amazing. The service is wonderful and the staff is always very helpful. We have been twice, but the last time we went the food was not as good and the condition of the room was sub par. They need to do a lot of updates in order to make it more modern but overall it's a nice place to visit.
I had a fantastic 7-day stay at the Royal Hideaway Playacar resort in Playa del Carmen. What I really enjoyed was the tranquil atmosphere. The resort was gorgeous. Special mention to Camilla, the villa concierge, who made my birthday extra special. Customer service was excellent, especially notable were Christian at the Deck restaurant and Angel.
Although the spa is small, especially in terms of the grandness of the main building, the services were excellent. I loved the steam room and sauna. I had an amazing Deep Tissue massage, foot reflexology, and facial from Juan!
As a gluten-free vegetarian, the food was delicious. I was also glad to be asked before each lunch and dinner, if I had any food allergies. 24-hour room service was part of the all-inclusive package, and I highly recommend it at least once. Even though I was not crazy about the idea of there being an evening dress code at all of the restaurants; I found that many guests still dressed casually.
The beach at the Royal Hideaway was beautiful; however, there is seaweed.
Overall, my experience at the Royal Hideaway Playacar was great. It provided the relaxing beach getaway that I wanted, and the resort exceeded my expectations.
Absolutely loved this hotel. Everything just feel rich and classy. Amazing service. Very close to Playa Del Carmen where you can shop and relax on a great beach.🇲🇽
Items Stolen at Hotel - No Sense of Urgency or Care from Staff
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 day vacation at the Royal Hideaway until our last night when my phone, credit card, id and cash were stolen and there was little to no help or followup from any staff member. A very surprising reaction considering the money my boyfriend had spent on a high end resort. Unfortunately, considering the circumstances we have reason to believe it was one of the staff members.
As suggested by guests who had stayed at the resort prior to our visit, we left some of our belongings at the pool beach bed to claim our spot for the afternoon. We left to return to our room for a short amount of time and returned to find all the beds cleared and belongings removed - a bag containing a phone, credit card, cash for tips and ID card. Our first assumption was that hotel staff had simply placed our belongs in the lost and found.
The next couple of hours were a nightmare as we frantically tried to find someone (anyone!) to help. Once we did there was a complete lack of urgency or care. The woman in the lobby shook her head and said,"I'm sorry, the staff is gone for the day". There was no mention of calling someone to help at that time.
After speaking to 4 different employees in various areas of the hotel, we were able to get help from one of the bar tenders who called security. The hotel was not busy enough to validate this lack of customer care. When security arrived, we were taken to the pool hut and relieved when our bag was pulled from one of the cabinets. Our clothes and sandals remained but the phone, id, credit card and cash were all gone. We filed a report, assured cameras would be checked and a follow-up would be delivered prior our departure the next day.
There was no followup the next day. We woke up to the same service experienced the night before. No one was available for help nor had a single member heard of the incident - including our private concierge. For insurance purposes (and peace of mind), we left the hotel asking that they email us any information they may find (or not find).
When we returned home I immediately emailed the General Manager asking for a copy of the report. It took days for a response. When it was finally provided; their report clearly stated that a lack of protocol had occurred by the employee who had moved our items. He admitted to moving the bag, claimed he did not open the bag but when asked about following protocol, admitted at failing to report moving guest belongings.
After the loss of cash/phone, purchasing a new one /inconvenience of acquiring a new ID credit card the total cost for stolen items has amounted to about $1200. Not to mention the inconvenience of being unable to connect with my professional life. The hotel is aware of this and has failed to respond regarding reimbursement - information we need to finalize our insurance claim. It's been over two weeks of emailing the general manger.
Although we cannot say for certain who stole the items, I can only assume it is unlikely that one of our fellow hotel guests rummaged through the bag and removed our items. Regardless, the lack of respect and customer service The Royal Hideaway displayed (and continues to display) is no where close to that of a 5 star hotel.
To add fuel to the fire, we also witnessed a couple in need of medical attention. They also received a complete lack of urgency - "Staff is not available at this time & we cannot provide any medical assistance".
I would hate to discourage anyone from visiting such a wonderful place but leave you with this note: All aspects of your trip will be wonderful providing you do not run into any mishaps - staff simply is not available to help outside of what is listed.
We spent 6 glorious days at the Royal Hideaway and loved everything about it! The beds were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on in a hotel, the staff was awesome-friendly, accommodating, and extremely hard working. The food--each restaurant meal was better than the last--and they were all delicious! I mainly had seafood, but friends raved about the beef, too. The beach was clean, the pools refreshing and quiet (and when we utilized the smaller pools, the staff was right there providing towels and refreshments), the entertainment was fun. The hotel is a mile walk into town & we also took the ferry to Cozumel and rented a jeep to tour the island-stopping at a few beachside bar/restaurants. Did I mention the weather??? One rain shower at night, the rest of the time was sunny--mid 80's, clear evenings. The whole experience was so relaxingwe will definitely return!
Very nice resort. Tough to eat supper unless you make reservations. . . Kind of goes against having a chill vacation if you have to get up early to book for supper and rush back for that time.
Food was great though, staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean.
The staff was wonderful. The rooms were very clean for the most part (the tub was the exception but we didn't use it anyway).
The dinners here are largely fantastic. Wide range of choices, and you can tell they put a lot into the presentation.
The lunch service was good to above average.
The premises are smaller and intimate. This is not a party resort by any stretch. They cater to an older crowd with no excuses.
The pool is right on the ocean and I loved that.
Views are fantastic.
