Adult only hotel. They have free breakfast which have something different everyday on the menu. All you can drink from noon to 10pm. But, top shelf liquor is not included. Rooftop pool is open 24/7 and is only 3" deep. I went top less in the pool. Beds are firm and comfortable. Help is very friendly and engaging. The only side is the keeping hot water in the shower. It goes from cold to HOT no happy medium. You just have to play with the handle all throughout your shower.
Its a great hotel with an excelent location, just a half street from 5th Av. Almost all workers at the hotel, restaurant and bar were friendly, except one guy in the bar at night.
The staff is very kind, and the facilities well cleaned. Good relation price-quality. Is a good option for groups of friends who are looking for nightlife. The location is perfect to the bars area and the center of the city.
Nice staff. They do not have irons in their rooms. But they will get you one in like 2 minutes, so fast. Roof top pool is cool. Drinks are tasty and priced right.
The best part of this hotel was the complimentary breakfast, good choices and delicious food. The staff is friendly and are attentive to the needs of the guests. One of the clean towels was damp and they quickly sent someone to replace it, thank you. I only stayed there for one night and it was enough for me. The style and atmosphere of the hotel is not my taste, it’s a little freaky to be completely honest. It takes a unique individual to fully enjoy what this hotel has to offer. But if you are into kinky hotels, then this is definitely a place for you.
Location is amazing! Literally smacked in the center of town with lots of food and shopping centers. It can be a little noisy because guy furys restaurant is down the block. But 5 min walk to the beach with super amazing taco spots to die for! I can't ask for anything more than that. The only thing I didn't like were the mannequins they placed everywhere. It creeped me out for a day but I got use to it in the end. People are nice and service is okay, but they try their best.
Stayed in this hotel for 4 days and when we arrived it looked great, so we we're quite excited however that did not last long. The service was terrible; first we had to argue to get food and drinks because they were concerned we wouldn't pay for It, techno music went off every morning at 7am waking us up and then off 5 minutes later, breakfast was the best though, we missed it for two days because the staff did not show up for work so we had to pay extra to get some food somewhere else; coffee was always cold and the waitress was rude at all times. To top it all off, on our last night there was a party at 2 o clock in the morning upstairs with drunk people singing and shouting waking the hotel up but the reception guys were not bothered in the slightest, we had to go down two times for them to do something (that is because the phone in the room was not working). Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone, just a waste of money.
Great theme throughout the building. The included breakfast was delicious. A couple things weren't perfect. No hand soap or body wash in the bathroom. Also, the towels were damp, but clean.
We arrived, checked in got 2 room keys and 2 towel keys. Hotel was cool but seemed like they were doing construction a loud bang sound kept repeating. Dropped off bags, changed and headed to the rooftop pool (which wa the reason for us booking this place) THERE IS NO POOL. Men were chipping into the inside of the pool, very loudly indeed. We went back down and asked Ivan who also checked us in, there’s no pool? He said, no construction. “So why did you give us towel keys”, I said. He pointed to the little display pool by the front desk and said, “there’s this one”. This was not a functional pool. Maybe a foot deep, 4x4 in the middle of the dark lobby. Really? But he quickly took out 2 different cards to nearby pools he said we can use. Cool. We get to those pools and we have to pay, why would we pay for a pool when we booked a room with a pool???
Long story short, they were very misleading and unapologetic tried to give us one comped dinner, that’s supposed to equal 6 days of not pool? We were even willing to be charged for the one day if we can get a refund for the rest, they refused saying once we check in (UNDER FALSE PRETENSES) there’s nothing they can do.
Luckily Expedia was completely understanding and moved us to a near by hotel with a functional pool.
BY THE WAY: When the rooftop pool is functioning it’s also a display pool only about 2 feet deep. Maybe that’s what they where working on. However seems like they just started the work. Buyers beware!
Quite interesting hotel you have here. Definitely not a family type, but fun for group of friends. Service is okay, maintenance not so well.
Took the room with the mirrors, once understood the concept of the hotel, wanted to cancel the second night. They didn't agree, which is too bad.
Except for the location everything sucked. Including the breakfast. Stay away.
Nice cool hotel. Also great price. No kids allowed. Its themed red and is different. Nice rooftop pool area but not deep enough for swimming. Also comes with parking area. Comes with breakfast, great service and food. Great location, right on calle 5 where all the action, the shoping, eating and near beachno need to drive.
This is a trendy Hotel. I have attended Meetup events in the lobby. Great happy hour drink specials.
The breakfast looks great and I look forward to trying it out sometime soon.
Worst hotel ever!!!
1. We stayed there for 6 days , and for 6 days they were constructed the building smashing with hammers from the morning until night.
2. The bed and the bathroom were full of tiny bugs that stings us everynight.
Just stayed for the second time. The staff was very helpful! They provided towels for the beach. They printed my airline tickets for me at the front desk. So helpful! The AC in the room was awesome. Wifi was free but I could only connect in the lobby and roof top pool.
I wish I could rate this place 0 stars! I too am a part of the "Peeping Tom" group.
I stayed at Reina Roja from 2/25/2017-2/28/17. There were 8 people in my party so we had 2 separate double rooms. I was in Room 321, along with 3 friends. On the morning of 2/26/17 we noticed a small scratch on the window, inside of the shower (odd place to have a window anyway, but go figure) after looking through the hole we realized that there was a small utility closet on the other side. Since the hole was small we didnt think it was deliberate, and chalked it off to chipped paint. We decided to stick something over it to be safe.
Flash forward to the night of 2/27/17 and we notice 3 new large holes! Someone was definitely watching/recording us as we showered! I was absolutely mortified! We went and told the front desk who sent two people up to check it out. We heard them in the utility closet (which was directly adjacent to our room), they were speaking Spanish so didnt understand anything, but they spoke for about 10 minutes before leaving.
The next morning as I checked out, I bought it to the concierge's attention (the morning shift guy who wear glasses), neither of them had any idea what was going on, nor did they seem to care and actually laughed several times as I explained my frustration. He called Security over for a debriefing and to explain the situation in detail. Apparently they found a guest in the closet (how the hell would a guest gain access to a locked utility closet? How would he even know it was back there to begin with? It wasn't visible from hallway). I proceeded to ask questions and learned that the "guest" was escorted back to his room, allowed to stay on site, and that no one bothered to call police or confiscate their phone. What a crock of BS!!! Their story didnt even make sense! I asked if I could go and see the utility closet for myself and was told no, probably because they didnt want me to see their production setup! I seriously think their is some sort of inside voyeurism ring going on. I had to persuade them to file a police report..they gave me a blank sheet of paper and asked me to record everything and sign, I'm about 97% sure this document got thrown in the trash as soon as I left. Three members of my party checked out today and said that the hotel refused to give up the guest's name and that they had no security footage of anyone entering the utility closet since we checked in..so which one is it? Yesterday your guys claimed to have found someone and now today you dont see anything? Like I said before BS! I am almost 100% sure we were being filmed/watched by a member of hotel staff and they need to be put on blast. PLEASE! DO NOT STAY HERE! You've been warned!!
Peeping Tom/Voyeurism Alert: We stayed at this hotel and discovered someone was watching or taking videos and photos of us while we showered. We stayed on the third floor, (room 321) and our bathroom had a frosted window that we assumed led to outside, but it actually led to a utility closet. After one night's stay, we noticed a hole had been scratched into the frost and we realized there was a closet behind it. We covered the hole with a sticker and then next day, noticed 3 more holes. We reported this to hotel management who thought the situation was funny, but told us they'd investigate. They never followed up with us, so we approached them for an update the next day and apparently, a male guest from the first floor had found a way to get inside of the utility closet through the stairwell and they found him inside the closet and simply told him to go back to his room and considered the situation resolved.
Highly upset at how this situation was handled and not taken seriously. There are lawsuits regarding situations like this all the time and who knows how many other rooms he is watching, if the story is actually true. I think the guest on the 1st floor story is a lie and hotel staff is involved. How would a guest on another floor know that a utility closet had a window that he could scrape to spy on other guests??
We even had to urge the hotel staff to go back and file a police report against the guy and try to confiscate his phone, but we're not sure what will happen next as we're on our way to the airport now. We will be contacting the police and the press to get the word out about this hotel and ensure nothing like this happens to anyone else. I would advise you not to stay at Reina Roja.
On top of that, the hotel is creepy and sexist. There are naked mannequins everywhere, mannequins dressed in raunchy clothing inside little cages, and it's just very weird. The reception, elevators, and rooms also have big posters of young girls in sexy positions and underwear/clothes. Overall, it's just a very sexist, raunchy hotel, and I think the voyeurism probably goes on inside every room, we just caught them in ours. Check your room for cameras or holes!
Awful experience. We just had a really disappointing stay at this hotel. We spoke the person at front desk about the issues last night and again to the manager Alejandro and they were unwilling to compensate or solve the issues. The shower in the room did not work properly. Only a bit of cold water dropped out of it. Also there was a problem with the air con that left the room floor soaking wet and slippery. When we complained to the front desk they sent somebody up to the room to mop it in the middle of the night however this did not really do much. The shower issue was not addressed. When we spoke to the manager Alejandro this morning he was not willing to help us. Also I feel that the hotel miss-sold itself by claiming it has a swimming pool on the roof. It is under 1 foot deep, you cannot swim in it. It is a paddling pool. I'm not sure what more we could have done. We complained about the issues and they were unable to solve them and did not move us to a different room. I think we deserve some money back.
