Perfect! This place exceeded our expectations. Excellent value for your money. Great location. Great selection of food and drinks. Room service, pools & beach area are wonderful. Very pleasant staff. So glad we picked this resort.

Outstanding. If you want a smaller, quieter resort without all the frat boy stuff, this place is for you. Top shelf and first class all the way. Best food, best beach, best service, best rooms. Loved every minute.

Do not get a second floor room unless you're okay with having an anemic A/C unit + a thatched roof that you can see the sky through.
Room is at 26.5 c (80f) and humid during the day. 22.5c(72.5f) night
There is a musky smell so bring a candle
    Pool closes at 9pm
Worst cocktails I've had somehow extremely bland or taste
    No towels most times
Only Mexican restaurant the entire time (no Asian Italian)
Only food is hotdogs and pizza after hours. And most times they were out of them.
    Terrible cheap pizza
TV quality has a huge amount of interference.
WiFi only at lobby and pools
Seems like they are constantly trying to limit food.
Buffet is mediocre. Food is bland.
Spent 5 nights and only was able to reserve the Mexican restaurant 2 of those nights. Were told that Asian and Italian would not be available.
Even the restaurant that needed reservations was not that good. The steak and mashed potatoes were good.
    Entertainment was mediocre.
Most of the staff was great.

I will not be coming back. Ever.

The service is excellent. The employees are extremely friendly and efficient (all of them! Since Receptionists, cleaners, animators, restaurants servers). They have games/animation in the pool every afternoon, dance classes in the morning and afternoon in the main pool, also, the beach in front of them is excellent for swiming and playing.
There are show every night at the theater.

We are members of first club which is supposed to be a step above just a normal experience. This was our first time at this resort and had leaks in our first 2 rooms and couldn't stay in the third room because of the moldy smell as soon as you walked in. Wasted a full day moving from room to room and we ended up in a 4th room with furniture out of the 70s. Overall, not a bad resort on the exterior but the rooms really need to be updated especially for us people that pay to be part of their vacation club. Won't be back.

We ended up here by default as our original trip to Cuba was cancelled. I could not be more happy that happened! What an amazing place this is, the staff is the best, from servers, front desk and maintenance crews, we have been treated beyond amazing. We haven't even left yet and we are already planning when we can come back. The beach is clean and clear, the water sports offered make leaving the resort not necessary.
Oh and the food! the food has been way more than I was expecting, flavours and menus selection have been incredible.
Thank you so much Allegro staff for giving my family the best of the best. We would all recommend everyone to come here.
    Thank you again

I would give the place 5 stars but my room wasn't ready when I arrived. I waited more than one hour to check in. All I wanted was to check in and shower after a 22hrs of traveling to my destination. They ended up accommodating us in another room but they could have done that from the beginning.
I personally like the room style, they are not your typical hotel rooms like, they are more like individual condos.
I have stayed in other resorts in playacar, I must say this one is not as chaotic has other ones where you have to wait in line for everything ( Bar, buffet..etc)

Overall, you will have a great time here.

My favorite part is that instead of one big building with hundreds of units, the guest hotels are made up of many smaller units that each house 8 separate units. This provides for a much more private feel. No worry about running into others on stairs or waiting for elevators.

The staff is exceptional. Many have worked there for 5-15 years or more. They remembered me by name my second year, and into my fourth year many of the staff are still the same. It's like visiting family.

I love the improvement of the beach, swapping for the palm trees this past year. There are more than enough seats, and it never feels crowded like many other resorts.

Thank you for upgrading the room safes. They always had issues during my first three years of visiting and we had to call room service many times to "fix" them. This year, new safes and no issues.

The HVAC upgrades seem to work much better now too. We had issues with this in the past, so they completely redid the system and it's great now.

What happened to the tipping jars at the bars? I enjoy tipping the bartenders even if it's not required. Please allow them to have tip jars. Maybe put a sign on the tip jars that say, "Tips not required. Completely optional."

I have mixed feelings about having no vendors at night. I can see why you would rid of some of them, the ones selling the same stuff you can buy from all the vendors downtown, but what about the people who handcraft items? I would like to see the guy who does the spray paint art. I would like to see the guy who makes the coin jewelry. I would like to see Alejandro, the cigar dealer whom wraps his own Mexican cigars. Please reconsider this, allowing only vendors who create art, but not allowing vendors who sell the same junk you can get anywhere in a Mexico gift shop.

I do miss the old room sinks, but I'm sure the new ones are easier to clean.
I also miss the old real wood railings, but again, the new ones are probably easier to clean and don't need to be repaired as often as the wood ones did, and they still look nice.
I also liked the old closet layout before the remodel- seemed more spacious and private.
Putting the pool table, air hockey and foosball upstairs where the private tables were was a great idea. But, I don't like that you got rid of all the tables on the other sides of that area. I was there for a few days and never saw the tall tables and chairs near the windows that overlook the area between the main building and the guest "hotels" used. I would much rather see a few big tables in that area to accommodate large parties.

Overall, the improvements made this past year are positive. Less issues, easier on the staff, and less repairs. As long as you keep the straw roofs on the main building and the guest "hotels" and the staff continues to be treated well and stay working there for years to come, I will come back.
