Stunning hotel. From its location to the gardens and food you will not find better.

I was there a few weeks ago. I was staying at Villas Archeologica and walked down for breakfast. Coffee, it seems, is a major deal at the hotels. Villas was so bad i left for coffee elsewhere. At Hacienda Chichen i was told it would be ten minutes for a cup. When i asked the waiter why so long, we were interrupted by a womanin charge..by the way she was agressive, body language, looks
She was unpleasant. She had been at the desk in the entrance way, but when i went into restaurant she followed and stared at me from a table at the other end.
I was there at 10a.m. and only one other couple there. 4 waiters, a bully woman, and.nice gardens. I ordered pancakes and ham. The ham was sandwhich slices. I sent it back. The hotcakes were cold. All in all, not worth the price..12$ US. or more. Price of a lobster dinner.
When i left, i sat out on the porch snd once again, the bully woman followed I said como estas, how are you? Once again, aggressive. "I live her
here"
It would have been nice to have a pleasant exchange. Instead of female aggressiveness. Ya know? I won't go back.response / report this review -

Stopped here for lunch after visiting Chichen Itza. Lunch was very good but on the pricier side. Ordered A la carte Didn't look like there was a buffet.
We had chaya soup, truffle and mushroom crepes, tacos and pasta. Food was really delicious.
The grounds are beautiful and we walked around the garden in front to listen to the birds singing.response / report this review -

Overrated and overpriced. Great location, but rooms are jaded and need renovating. Cramped old fashioned bathrooms; curtains that need black-out and replacing; arrogant and unhelpful staff. Many better options available.

The most dreadful place, I was on my whole mexiko journey. Overpriced and shameless service, which takes 18 € for a very simpel pasta and asked for more tip! Shameless ripp-offs! The rooms very tired, the bed -not worth you call a bed, the refrigiator dirty, loud and old. I switched off to get sleep. The swimming pool smelly and also dirty. Full of tiger-moscitos (not the fault of the hotel ;-)) Spending only one night - so lucky, God bless you! Later my wife delete all photos of that place, she didn't tell me, because I want to show all the truth about this greedy hotel!

Hacienda Chichen. Excellent in every regard. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Cottage room with patio facing garden. Wake to birds singing.

Besides the rumours some parts of the resort are built using old stones coming from the pyramids next to it, it's a fantastic place just 5 minutes walking from Chichen Itza (it's the same area, the owner bought the whole years back), immersed in botanic garden with secular trees and spacious and very well decorated rooms.

Best bit was the sneaky tricksy entrance to the ruins without queueing with the normal people and bus loads of tourists and our personal guide (jaime) who made the ruins come alive with stories and also a contemporary take on how mayans and Mexicans in general live today. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!
