The resort itself was nice. The food was alright, nothing special. I loved the dining room staff. Juan and Jose were great and would always sit in their section when possible.
While we were there, there was a weird seaweed issue which basically meant no swimming in the ocean while on resort. The resort did what thy could to fix the issue, but it wasn't much help.
The free wifi kept going down, which really sucked because they didn't offer any other wifi other than paid.
There were renovations in the lobby, and not much seating.
Our first room had 2 broken beds. Had to wait upwards of 2 hours and 3 phone calls the be notified at 1am that we would move rooms the next morning. We had to sleep on slanted beds that night.
The next room we moved to had a broken shower head, bad ac and a bad fridge. I reported it several times during our stay, but no one fixed any of it.
Also had to report to the front desk 3 times to recover items left in the first room as each time I inquired, the staff didn't follow through.
The last day of our stay someone tried to offer us a free massage for our inconvenience, but we had to check out, so it was useless.
When I completed a resort survey after our stay, I explained my disappointment. They responded saying that they looked at my account and that everything was resolved correctly. This was infuriating as the issues we actually not fixed, they were barely acknowledged in fact.
I did respond to them saying as much, but I didn't get a response.
I feel they like to give generic responses and don't actually want to take accountability for their downfalls.
This could have been fixed with a sincere apology and accountability for their broken equipment.
Instead, they ignore my complaints while I was there and then try to tell me all had been dealt with when responding to my complaints once I was back home.
Unfortunately, I won't be going back to this resort, and I actually wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends either.response / report this review -

Wedding group from Canada and everything was good. Our wedding was awesome at the Tulum gazebo and our reception at the tent. Resort is nice but big with all three buildings and lots to see and do.Construction in the lobby in Tulum so we were upgraded to Akumal, which is great since it was for our wedding! Nice touch that our travel agent let the manager know and upgraded us. Glad I brought bug spray since there was allot of them and the seaweed on the beach was always worse in the morning. Thanks for the wonderful week and thank you to Claudia for making our wedding amazing.

Great location and so much to do. The buffet offered a good variety of yummy food. Both kids and adults will love it. The property is huge which offers lots of options in terms of activities and pools. Lots of walking around. Kids club is a bit on the small side. Service on the whole is very good especially if you find the right staff. Overall. A wonderful stay and would consider staying here again.

Loved this place! Probably one of the most beautiful vacations I've ever been on☺that said i do think the drinks could have been better. It seemed to me that almost all the alcoholic beverages tasted diet? Also a little weak? The food was good probably a 8 out of 10. I made this trip with apple vacations and had a fantastic time and don't regret it!

Hotel was great. Large but the proximity between everything was manageable by either a short walk or taking the many hotel provided shuttles. Beach was nice, the man-made break made it so the swimming area was calm but a bit shallow. Food and drink was good and in some cases great. The Japanese and Brazilian steakhouse houses were on point. Staff was friendly and helpful. Some aspects of the resort are 4 star others 5. Overall a good experience, would recommend and would return.

Great service, the staff was amazing and extremely helpful. The room was clean and all the amenities were kept clean. The food was great (so far) with the exception of restaurant Tequila which didn't have such great food. If you want to go on excursions but them at the hotel which are cheaper than online. So far it's been an awesome vacation

From the staff members, to the quality of the food - this resort does not even deserve 1 star. Where do I even startWe were a party of 42 for a wedding and over half the group was sick from the food. We were told 160 guests were sick from the food. When I asked for a lime for my drink, I was told they were infected. The hotel stopped letting guests come to the resort for 2 days, but left those who were already there. At the wedding rehearsal dinner, the menu was served all wrong. $300 and 2 watches was stolen from our friends room and when security was informed, they said they knew who it was, he had done this before how is he still employed? The staff is very unaccomidating and very rude. We waited over 10 minutes for a glass of water at the buffet, and when I informed the manager, the waiter laughed as he came to pour our water. I could go on and on. 10/10 would not stay here again.

We travelled with a group of 10 people and it was a great experience. The Mexican people are very gracious and welcoming. The food was amazing (some food I didn't care for but that had more to do with my tastes then the quality of the food). The staff was always serving us and ensuring our stay was great. This was our 2nd time to the resort and I would consider coming again.

The most Beautiful Resort my boyfriend and I have ever been to! So perfect we've been there a total of "3" times! 2001, 2003, and 2009. The rooms, 24 hrs snack shack, the BIG BUFFET and seating area, to many other great restaurant's are just about a few great things! Excellent pools, the "White" soft sand, the water so clear, you can see the fish! Hospitality of staff, too rate! Really, wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, in Mexico! Ocean on one side, jungle on other, just incredibly beautiful!

We have come back from our seven night holiday. I will keep this short and sweet. The hotel is on the next level, as every aspect of it was perfect. The staff who work tirelessly every hour of the day go above and beyond to make sure you have the holiday of a life time. From cleaners, entertainers, bar staff and even the gardeners! I would 100% recommend this as a holiday destination to anyone! Thank you!

I have been to 5 different resorts in Mexico/Caribbean.This way my boyfriend's first time out of the country (US) and This was by far the best resort i have been too especially finding out how good the food was! Exceptional service at the Tequila Restaurant that we booked on the resort. Our waiter was amazing and so much fun. We ate dinner outside on the beach! AMAZING! Favorite restaurant on the resort! Food was delicious!! We both got Fajitas! Huge resort with constant transportation to get where you need to go! There are so many shops and entertainment on this resort including a Casino and Night Club. We did a few excursions that were so much fun, The catamaran tour/snorkel with sea turtles/steak and lobster tail dinner on the boat! The Coba Mayan Ruin excursion was so cool, we got to climb up the ruin and then we went zip lining and swam in a cenote! There is a dolphin aquarium on this resort! They also have parasailing and wave runners available! Great swim up bar at the pool! Our Jr Suite was in building 3 and it was so close to everything! Would definitely recommend this resort!

Ask for Carlos to check you in when you arrive. He is the best. Love the hotel. Room is very clean and spacious,the hotel is very clean. Pool and the beach is awesome. The only problem i had, you have to get up at 6 am to get the seats at the pool and the beach, even then all the seats already taken. FOOD: The best restaurant is a Stake House, Garden Grill and Bella Italian. Make all your reservations the firs day you arrive. Eat breakfast and lunch at the lobby, the food is so much better then by the beach.

This is an amazing resort. From the yummy foods to the very nice staff, it's the best. You get to swim with dolphins, swim normally, go to the beach, get to go on adventures, drink a lot, relax, spend time with family, but also don't lose your bracelet they give you! It will give access to everything! Staff is very, very nice. They clean your room very amazingly. It's a good resort to explore. Lots of activities to do for kids and adults! Beautiful resort. Terrific staff (mostly). Good food - abundant and lots of variety. Great drinks (hard to get this wrong). Air conditioning was not working in our room and was not fixed. We were offered another room on the other side of the resort but since we were there with a group for a wedding that was not acceptable and no other efforts were made to make us comfortable. Everything in the room was damp due to lack of air conditioning. The spa is terrific! Ask for Norma or America, Gabrielle at the front desk is very helpful. If you are planning a wedding there the wedding coordinator Christina is great, but the photographer was very rude and my friends fired him before the wedding. Overall we managed to have a terrific time, but there were some real issues that prevent me from recommending this resort.

My experience at this resort would be a 3/5. Upon arrival to the hotel at 10 pm, we were dealing with an issue with the toilet in our room until past midnight. After going to the front desk a few times and having the maintenance guy come to our room twice, we were told that this is Mexico, and this is just how the facilities are in this country. We asked to switch rooms and were told that there are no more rooms.
I spoke with other guests who all advised me that their toilets were functioning properly as would be expected for a 5 star resort. All other washrooms I visited on (and off) the resort worked better than the one in our room. Very Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel. I also found Socks of a previous guest in the room during our stay
A positive note - the sand ash trays for cigarette butts were always maintained and cleaned with a cute design on them.response / report this review
