Absolutely amazing experience here. The staff are incredibly fun and friendly, and amazing excursions are offered here. From scuba diving to snorkelling with sea turtles, they really do offer a lot. I would seriously recommend it to anybody staying in the area - taxi services are extremely efficient to and from nearby hotels. Massive thumbs up!!

Amazing customer service! Isela coordinated everything with me weeks in advance, offering me options and explaining everything I needed to know about the Robinson Crusoe trip and a Discovery dive for my wife and two kids (10, 16) with me diving alongside. She was patient, and friendly and extremely helpful.
Due to weather, we couldn't dive at sea but had an incredible experience diving in a Cenote with David (and another instructor whose name I forget). David was wonderful - he helped my family fall in love with diving. The trip was so memorable, and that is in very large part to David.

Exceptional. I'm pretty new to diving and had not even finished my certification before my trip. Only having had a few training dives in a Chicago pool, I was anxious about my first dives in open water. There were several shops in the area and while I can't speak to their quality, I feel very happy to have settled on Akumal Dive Shop which came recommended by a fellow traveler. I've been a college level teacher for 15 years and I was impressed by the delivery, clarity, and quality of instruction. The staff were very patient with my many questions and Aitor was a true professional. It's clear he tailors his pace and style of instruction to the individual based on comfort levels and ability. Highly recommend this shop.

My husband and I did a snorkel tour, Lupita was our guide. I was very nervous about snorkeling but Lupita helped calm me down and made me feel safe. Seeing the turtles was an amazing experience. I would totally recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time diving with Aitor and Xavo, these guys made our experience so unique, we felt like we were just hanging out with friends!
It was my first ever dive and Aitor was beyond amazing at making sure I was feeling comfortable and enjoyed the experience at full. We couldn't recommend this place more, such a welcoming atmosphere, very clean facilities and overall good vibes. Thank you guys!!!response / report this review -

Our two tours with the Akumal Dive Shop were absolutely wonderful. They provided free parking and many good recommendations for the area. Reasonable prices and great communication, highly recommend at least one of their tours!

I have mixed feelings on the staff. I talked to a few of them and many of them were awesome and super helpful. Others were just so so.. They have very large lockers that will allow you to take your entire travel pack and stow it away safely for the day.

Very helpful and nice! Much more affordable than the "local guides" that catch you the second that you exit your taxi. We rented life jackets and a locker, and bought a water proof phone case at the dive shop. After our snorkeling the showers and bathrooms were free (they are not free where the guides send you). We felt our things were safe and we felt no pressure to buy etc. A much more informed and comfortable welcome to Akaumal beach!
General tip: we snorkeled with a local guide the day before and the "reef" we saw with them was nothing compared to the exploring we did on our own the next day! (Also, do not pay for pictures from the local guides, ours turned out terrible! An extra $30 USD for what wound up being 3 decent pictures, guides also charge $30 USD/person just to do the snorkeling with life jacket included and provide no instruction in regards to snorkeling if that's a factor in your decision). But, if you head straight out from the dive shop to just before where the waves break on a calm day, you'll see SO much more than you will with a guide, just don't touch! Turtles are not hard to come by on your own either!!!response / report this review -

Husband and I took a taxi to the Akumal beach. We were not interested in a tour, so we went to the dive shop to rent snorkel equipment. The prices were very reasonable. The lady working in the front spoke English was to helpful and kind we ended up purchasing snorkel sets to use that day and throughout our trip. She never tried to pressure us to purchase their tours, etc. We rented a locker and used their changing room. I was struggling to get my snorkel on my mask and an employee walking by helped and cleaned my mask. Wonderful employees.

We went for a snorkel tour to see turtles and fish among the coral reefs. Our guide was great he showed us around and pointed out all the turtles and fish in the area. We saw 12 sea turtles and countless tropical fish including one massive barracuda.
