Good place for meals but note that it can get really hot in the afternoon due to outdoor setting. Service is good and the food quality is good. We had Grilled Sear Fish and Black Pork Curry, both of which were good. To finish off, the via Paradiso cake (liquor + tiramisu cream) was a winner. Recommended

The black pork curry and passion fruit meringue was pretty great. The atmosphere is pleasant. The staff was attentive. The drinks are just WAY over priced.

Good and tasty food. Service is average. The Double Chocolate Cheese Cake is fabulous. Saw a rat running for cover outside when I was having a meal here in 2010!

Great place to dine out. Love the ambience and the food that is dished out..
Generally busy and it is advisable to book ahead and go. Menu is on the pricey side, but value for money spent.

Fans of architecture will love this building. A good selection of cocktails and a very well balanced menu
Service was slightly slow but it was very busy. Didn't have any, but the selection of cakes on offer was amazing!

The service was truly awful, it unfortunately detracts from the food which is pretty good. (I mean much better for cheaper in Sri Lanka, and for this price you should go elsewhere). Wine came after the starter, dishes never came, desert was never ordered due to 30 minute wait to take the order. Honestly take my word that you can do much better. Be better.

Just love this place. The ambience is great. Lots of greenery around. Good service. Ample seating area. Price is a little too much for an ordinary person.

I visited today as I was told good things about the Gallery shop. The shop is small and full of items for sale, it's a very small space - be wary of knocking things over.

The cafe itself is old world, comfortable and relaxed. I had an iced coffee, to my surprise they added a large scope of icecream to the coffee.. That's a new one to me..

For context, I was solo and the only one in the cafe at the time of my visit

Service was lack luster, there was immediate attention and after which the waiters did not seem interested. It took some time to get my coffee after which I asked for the bill and that took some time to as the person generating the bill was busy talking to other waiters.

As others have noted, the Gallery cafe has nice ambience and a certain appeal for a relaxed and chilled vibe.

The significant disappointment was the lack of service and failure to remain engaged given the ratio of staff to guests at the time. It would be prudent for the staff to have a refresher course in customer service.

A side note, service charge is added to the bill, while not significant amount, I find it galling that they would add service charges at this current standard.

Would I go there again - yes, the art work is fab And the coffee better than most.. Just don't expect a comparible level of service to cash ratio. Which is a shame..

Beautiful place, some really good food but don't take the ceasar salad. It was not worth the money at all. The chicken was dry, not anything but iceberg lettuce and croutons in the plate, not even arranged nicely. The tuna steak was delocious. Juices are good. The staff was not always friendly.

Ambience is vibrant with tranquility. But as always get dissapointing with their service. Staff is attentive and professional, but delivery time of food is really poor. You just need to keep on reminding. If you cater for busy nights kitchen should be pretty fast

A fabulous place with a cozy ambiance. Their friendly staff provides an excellent service and the food is absolutely delicious. They have a decent range of items in the menu and the quality is undoubtedly exceptional. Also need to mention the awesome arts and crafts that are exhibited here. Truly an amazing place which I love to revisit.

Love the place, the location, the ambience & the food. The art that gets exhibited here is truly great.
I love the freshly baked bread that they serve. Their black pork curry is a popular choice, I love their salads, soups, fish & chips too & have tasted almost everything on the menu except for the shell fish.
The staff are very friendly, the service is good but the food gets delayed, i guess due to the demand, the presentation & the process.
I wish the chairs were more comfortable.
The coconut ice cream is my all time favorite.

The food was great, but the service is even better. Love the atmosphere. A bit on the fancy and expensive side, but a great place to have proper dinner.

Great food and ambiance, slow wifi. I ordered the blackened pork curry, a must! The food is good but pricey, probably due to the amazing decor and the arty vibe with the gallery.

Our second meal in Sri Lanka, and still the highlight a week into our stay. The Gallery Cafe is part of the Paradise Road group which includes galleries, boutique hotels, and shops - and the sharp design aesthetic is well in evidence in the Gallery Cafe. You enter via a serene courtyard that doubles as an art gallery with a fish pond, and enter a second courtyard with sheltered tables on three sides and trees in the centre. Very atmospheric.

We had a couple of drinks - including an interesting Tamarind martini - and took in the surroundings. The staff were friendly and didn't try to hurry us, even as the place filled up with a well-heeled local crowd and smattering of westerners. Having had an excellent late lunch at the Ministry of Crab (highly recommended), we skipped starters and dove straight into blackened pork and a curried coconut crusted white fish with garlic mash and vegetables. The well-presented pork came with rice, a palm leaf cone of mushrooms and a separate cone of what tasted a lot like tabula. All top notch. We rounded off the meal with the retro choice of a banana split (I ordered this primarily because I wanted to try the jaggery ice cream it came with - alongside vanilla and coconut - but the whole dessert was actually very well executed).

My only complaint is that some of the pork was very fatty - but that's a footnote to what was, overall, an excellent meal.
