  I hope the Japan H/C will read thisWorst embassy i have ever visited i ln my life.my visa was granted and accepted ,,but wanted to write this to keep Japanese community reputation i felt so sad the way they treat elderly people too. 25th January 2017 i went to apply for tourist visa for a visit in for holidays next.They are not humanistic. Starting from Security. No proper way to take people inside. If the queue is getting long they expect customers to squashed together. If you go at 8.30am you can go inside only at about 10.30am. Because only 2 counters are inside.
  #currently they have two web pages regarding visa requirements(requirements are different on each). Majority look at one website and visit with said document's.(including me) i went at 8.30am took all required document's. Most of people were turned away at counters this and that is missing, some people 4th time..i was taken inside about at 11am have to stand outside and wait untill . Once you go inside you have to wait another about 2 Hours until token number show on display. Best part is only two tiny counters are there. They call about 4-5 numbers at once to one tiny counter (with one way glass with a rude person inside we cant see him/Her.) Its like Sri Lankan school canteen counter. The first to run and give token they take document's. And with us other people files also taken in. (NO ROOM AT ALL-AT COUNTER-SIMILAR TO Sri Lankan busses -Trainpeak time squashes each other. Its a very tiny hole to pass the file in that one way glass. Once i gave the document's she told application second page is missing (they ask to remove staple and give at counter) then i kept on telling its there please check.. then gave me the file docs back to come again in while, as soon as i got file i saw both pages were inside, then i had to keep stand aside again as it was squashed with other people( same issue happens to many people.. One you step back they don't call you back, like the school canteen you have to peak and peak and beg to take the documents, once you give document's again have to go back as many people squashed together(No lines).. she called me (2nd counter) told this and that is missing as usual. Lucky i had required document's screenshot from official website, then she told this is old website. New website is different. No excuse 80% people were turned away.. i have to say these unnecessary document requirements are not even in American embassy. Example one old couple documents were rejected because just one printoutwas taken in A3 paper instead of A4 paper which they asked to.. i was turned away as schedule of stay paper was missing. Which you have to say what will you do in Japan in the days you plan to stay. I told counter i live far, i will quickly fill it and comeback now itself in 10 minutes, she told no. Tomorrow. I talked with many people they had come from Matale, Kandy more than 5 - 6 hours travel time. But they had to turn away just because they don't give proper details via website or at counter. At least if they can highlight in printed document at counter what document is missing, second day he can come with proper document's. But NO all telling fast cant even see who is talking cz its one way glass.That's the way this embassy behaves. This is disgrace to whole Japan. I have been to many Embassys for tourists visa including American ,Australian, Europe/ Canada(TT services) China. Never faced this way.

  Visited this shanty today, from the entrance gate service was terrible.There was a man in the security office I imagine he is the ambassador because he acted like the ambassador.Then I went to the second counter which a women with no face scolding people and chasing them to another office-bearer and should face the same nature there. I haven't any personal issue with this people or with the embassy I want to say Japan is a country with great human qualities and we hope the same thing from the embassy in sri lanka .Should train the workers to welcome and treat people.

  Compulsory visa requirements
  (HELP - ACCORDING MY BEST 2016 👊)
  
  -Applicants visiting Japan for the first time should produce the original Birth Certificate with a photocopy and an Affidavit declaring that they have not changed their original name.
  
  -A letter from the Travel agent confirming the itenery (The Embassy does not assume responsibility as regards obtainin REFUND on Air Tickets).
  -A photograph taken within the past six months. (Refer Application Form for specifications on Photo).
  A valid Passport (a minimum validity of Six (6) Months) and previous cancelled passports; if any.
  -Applicants if married, should produce the original marriage certificate with a photocopy.
  Applicants should produce the original National Identity Card with a photocopy.
  
  NOTICE TO ALL VISA APPLICANTS
  
  ALL VISA APPLICANTS ARE KINDLY REQUESTED TO PRODUCE THE NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD WHEN APPLYING FOR JAPANESE VISA. THEREFORE, PLEASE CHECK WHETHER THE NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD IS LEGIBLE AND CLEAR. IDENTITY CARDS WHICH ARE ILLEGIBLE, BADLY DISCOLOURED AND DAMAGED WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. TO AVOID ANY INCONVENIENCE, VISA APPLICANTS ARE REQUESTED TO CHECK THE STATE OF THEIR OWN NATIONAL IDENTITY CARDS, AND IF THE NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD IS NOT IN AN ACCEPTABLE CONDITION TO OBTAIN A NEW IDENTITY CARD FROM THE REGISTRATION OF PERSONS DEPARTMENT.
  
  -Student Visa applicants should produce their original GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level results issued by the School Principal
  
  *** important updates (2016)***
  - Bring your english translations of birth certificate, National ID & Marriage certificate.
  - Bank account information (serving account book) ect (it will help you)
  - Two copies of all above certificates and translations including NIC.
  - Do not stapler any document.
  - All copies should be A4 size including NIC, Birth certificate, passport your detail page and one other page.
  - You should want to go there before at least 10.00 a.m

  Its completely understood that there could be a queue due to a possible large number of applicants. But I believe people deserve some politeness from the staff. Starting from the security at the gate, until the submission counters, the customer service is terrible. The way they speak to people is not acceptable at all. I work in Japan for about a year now and I experienced this unpleasantness when I went there to apply for my visa. Not only me, but also my wife went there to apply visa for herself and my son and she has had to undergo the same stress. My son is just 2 and half years old and they haven't even considered the physical stress of a woman with a child and not done even a slightest bit of a favor. The service she received has been rather inhuman.
  
  An Embassy should be a representation of its host country. But the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka does not represent the politeness and efficiency of Japan at all.
  
  I sincerely hope someone with a higher level of authority sees my review. The purpose of this criticism is not to harm anybody's job, but to emphasize the minor facts of the current situation and encourage them to improve so that people will receive a better service in the future.

  2nd counter cruel woman she is don't no how to deal with people
  she scold me,my behind too much crowd.she don't no my problem
  and i'm not a beg.they don't care about us CCTV have a everything.
