Location is about a 15 minute walk from the train station and about 10 minutes from the Central market. Hotel owner is very nice. There is free breakfast in the mornings, and owner seems to be helpful, his English is not very strong though. Rooms are clean. They are nothing extravagant, but for the price and location, it is great.

Hotel Andrea is located 12 minutes walk from the Florence train station, and is about 10 minutes walk from the cathedral/tourist area. It is also located across from a park, which is pretty sketchy late at night with large groups of people out drinking, talking loud next to a dimly lit street. There is a gold sign next to a big wooden door that says "Hotel Andrea". You have to press a button on the wall to be buzzed in. Once inside, there is a big metal gate. You will have to be buzzed in also. There is an older style elevator inside the complex. Hotel Andrea is located on the 3rd floor. We were greeted by a very nice old man (grandpa) who spoke little english. Our room is decent. Everything was clean, beds were ok. Towels and soap/shampoo provided, along with an ac unit. Our room came with 2 electric outlet on either side of the bed. Next morning we had breakfast which consisted of croissant, coffee (grandpa made me a really good cappuccino), bread, cereal, yogurt, and chopped up fruits. Over all it was a great stay, and they offer bag storage if you're leaving florence after check out time (10-11am).

BED BUGS. Please check your rooms before sleeping!
We had booked 4 nights (September 28th-October 2nd, 2016) and when we got there the receptionist was very nice and showed us a map with descriptions of everywhere that was very helpful. She then took us to our room (#209). That night as we were getting into bed I noticed a bug crawling on the curtains and 3 on the walls next to the bed. They were adult bugs. We also saw signs of bed bugs under the strip of wall paper. After a bed bug bites it will poop out black blood in spots. There are a ton of those clusters of spots everywhere.
We packed up and told the night receptionist who showed us a plug in bug deterrent for mosquitoes (he also spoke no English so we couldn't contact a manager). We left the hotel with a note saying we wanted a refund and that we were staying elsewhere. This was at 12:30am.
We got a full refund with no hassle after coming back two days later. The employee said they inspected the other rooms and found no bed bugs, that the room we stayed in was now closed, and that the exterminator had been called. Whether or not that is true is unknown. We have photos of the bugs but cannot post them here on the review.
Please inspect your rooms thoroughly!

The gentleman was waiting to hold the door for us as we entered the hotel! Very friendly staff. Room is clean and homey. Bathroom is large and spacious. But the viewAMAZING! It is only a 4 minute bus ride from the train station and quite easy to find. Free wifi and tv and breakfast for a very reasonable price!

The only issue was getting up to the hotel entrance - you have to walk through the large wooden doors, hit the buzzer to open the internal gate, squeeze into a small left, and take it to the 3rd floor.

A simple hotel, employes are soooo nice! So welcoming, speaking every languages and so accomodating.
They even print us museum tickets.
Breakfast is huge. Tea/Coffee/Capuccino all is house made.
I do not regret this choice.
Location in the city is perfect.
Ps: the hair dryer was working but I should have bring mine. At the end of tje week they were really dry! (Girls stuff)

Ease to find:
The hotel was not difficult to find due to having GPS, however it is not marked by a large sign out side like most. There is a smaller sign on the wall near the buzzer. To get access just press the buzzer button and you will be let in.

Check-in process:
Check in was simple and quick

Room size and comfort:
The bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable.

Bathroom size and comfort:
Just enough room for two people to get ready and the shower is a very good size. No bath tub.

Breakfast:
Small setup with cereal, some fruit, bread, meat, cheese, orange juice, grapefruit juice, milk, and water. You can ask for a coffee as well.

Staff:
All the staff is helpful and there was 24hr coverage so we did not worry about getting in the gate at night. I did have to wait 15 min at the gate once, but it is understandable since there is only one person on staff at that time. The main lady is extremely helpful and understands English, but mostly speaks Italian.

Location:
North of most sights. Plan a 15 min walk to Piazza del Duomo and 25-30 min to the Ponte Vecchio.

Cost:
We stayed in late September 2013 and paid around 115 Euro a night.

Very nice hotel, rooms are small but clean and good looking, staff is helpful, if you tell them that you are leaving, they may lower the price. WiFi is weak in rooms but you will connect if you try hard enough. Better bring your own reduction for electric socket, there is little Arab which, as he said, will kill you if you do not return it.
