One of our favorite places during our trip. It is unbelievably beautiful. We stayed at a hotel 30min away that allowed us to easily visit multiple times. But you must plan you're trip according to the tide charts. At high tide you will not see anything on the beaches and it will be a sad disappointment if you're expecting the big chunks of glacier washed up. The best times are during low tide. Everyday at low tide the beach has a new look because new chunks are washed up. It's simply breathtaking. We took some of our favorite photos ever here.

I could have stayed at this beach all day taking photos of the different shaped ice formations at the beach. It was really quite beautiful. There is only one place to eat/hotel nearby but it was worth the long icy road drive to get there. If you are not comfortable driving on ice on a two lane narrow road with tour busses in opposite lane coming from other direction with no barrier in sometimes near 0 visibility then do not drive yourself there during winter. I cannot stress this enough!!!!

This was an amazing place, and one we almost missed because of road closures. The only downside as with other beauty spots is other tourists by the coachload and we were visiting in the shoulder season. But truly unique to get up close to these huge and beautiful chunks of ice, and to watch them float out to sea.

Worth visiting and worth the drive up from Vik. Would recommend also doing the ice cave tour at the nearby glacier field.

This was the highlight of my trip. I will never forget watching the deep blue hunks of ice float out to sea, only to get washed back to shore by crashing waves. I spent an entire day walking among icebergs the size of cars washed up on the black pebble beach. I visited in late April.

We debated whether or not this was a must-see, and holy Hannah was it worth it! Such a cool place, also why are icebergs so fascinating? Park and walk for a while until you're the only one on the beach surrounded by crashing bergs and mountain views. This was way better than the lagoon in my opinion.

A great spot to see where small pieces of shattered icebergs wash up ashore. They're spectacularly pretty, ranging from tiny diamond pebbles to crystals the size of cars. Be careful around them: they can be *extremely* sharp.

Chunks of the Jökulsárlón glacier break off into a lagoon that drains into the sea here. The crystal-clear ice chunks end up washed back up on this black sand beach. An other-worldly landscape.

Worth the 5 hour drive from Reykjavik. Beware the parking lot has many holes, and could damage your vehicle. Take it slow and you should be fine. Also, we saw more Ice on the beach to the West of the bridge, even though the icon states its on the East of the bridge.
