Great place to visit. Less crowded than the main, national park parking. Short walk to the glacier, amazing things to see. Highly recommended.

Worth the turn off on this road that seems to go nowhere!! We stopped on the main road for a picture and decided to follow some of the cars down the 2km road and weren't disappointed. You can get up close and personal with the glacier here, we even heard it moving! The parking lot is small and the hiking in on the mountain side/rocks, though very accessible. It's a totally breathtaking spot where you can walk or site for a few minutes to take in the beauty!

One of my favorite places in all Iceland. Different on every visit as the glacier is not a static natural monument. May get crowded during busiest months. Free parking and more than a couple of pathways to different POV over the glaciar lagoon. Located very near (8Km or so) from Skaftafell campsite.

This is a easy hike and probably one of the best ways to see a glacier close. At the visitor center go to the trail to the right of the building and its about 30-40 min flat hike.

Its a bumpy road to parking lot. But a short walk up to glacier is wonderful. There is small trail you can walk your way through where you can see border between snow and glacier in long distance view. If you dont have sufficient time for hiking this may be the spot to see glacier up close
