Friendly staff, but do not use them if in a hurry or if you need to catch your plane. Waited half an hour for the shuttle service both to and from their office which is a little distance from the airport. Car was alright though and competitive prices

I strongly DO NOT recommend this company, I felt tricked. I paid Premium Insurance, I was told it was 0 deductible, turn out that I have got a FLAT TIRE on their own road (bad conditions, not public lights) and I was charged 70 pounds (95 dollars) under the following tricky clause:
- Damage affecting only wheels, tires, suspension, batteries, glass, radio equipment, as well as damage due to the theft of individual parts of the vehicle and damage derived thereof.
They will always find the way to trick you and they are not friendly as advertised.

simply perfect, great airport shuttle, great uncompicated service + second driver costs, great car, great value per price. Highly recommended!

Edit: Deposit on cars is absolutely normal. Thats why u need a kredit card. We had our car for ~450 bucks (4x4 + 2 drivers), 7 days, did 3000km. I had a lot of rental cars, never that uncomplicated and always with deposit on credit cards.

We had someone waiting for us right at the airport arrivals. They took us to their store where they gave us the car. The rental process was smooth and fast. Had no issues with the car during our 10-day stay. Upon return, everything went ok, and they dropped us at the airport right after. Happy customer.

Love this company! For one, it was the cheapest rental rate considering we were young drivers and needed a 4 by 4. We rented a Honda CRV for the Easter weekend, which happens to be a holiday in Iceland. Upon arrival, we met a friendly rep that was waiting to pick us up from the airport. During our time in Iceland, we drove a LOT. So much so, that the car got a bit overheated. However, IceRental Cars was quick to answer our call of distress and provide us a backup car even during the holiday hours. We made sure to purchase the full insurance coverage and we were afraid that we'd get a charge to our card after they inspected the car, but alas, no charge was made. Everything was seamless and smooth. I usually don't write reviews but my experience with IceRental Cars merits one. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE FULL INSURANCE ON THE CAR!!! It'll save you much grief.

Friendly staff which provides airport shuttle to their office. They met us in the airport and provided us with a brand new car. Both collecting the car and delivering it went smooth. They do require a deposit for the car if you do not have insurance through them. As long as you treat the car properly, this isn't an issue at all.

Update:

We returned the car in perfect condition which was acknowledged by the rental company. 5 days later I received an email from them saying that they took the vehicle to the carwash and found a crack in the windshield. Want just under $1300 to repair it.

Clearly trying to fleece us: we saw no cracks nor did their person who inspected the car in the light of day. Neither was the car particularly dirty

I also question the timing: 5 days later.

Good people to avoid.

Initial review:

We rented a CRV diesel there through the "guide to Iceland" service. When we showed up it turned out that they won't rent unless we let them put a $3000 hold on our credit card. First time ever a car company would demand such an outrageously large deposit! Obviously a scare tactic to force you to buy their insurance (we have a full coverage from our credit card). We decided to let them put that hold, now waiting for the refund

The car was fine except for it was showing low tire pressure out of the gate. The price was pretty high but car rental is unusually expensive in Iceland as a rule.

Me and my girlfiend rented a car one day after we arrived on Island. There was no problem to rent a car (Peugeot 108) and traveled around 800 km on Island with it. There was a good price and nice lady at the desk. After our arrival to office it was maybe 15-20 minutes and our car was ready.

Best price I could find. I accidently booked a day early and they kept my reservation despite the booking agency telling me I was out of luck. Super nice and accommodating staff. I can't say enough good things about them. If I'm ever back in Iceland I'll for sure use them again.
