Very affordable. Rooms were very clean and comfy. Common areas were great and small kitchen was helpful.

The main building hosted breakfast (which was included). We also had dinner there (extra) which was more than filling and a fair price.

Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Parking was free.

Cottages were small and clean, but comfortable for our party of two. Wifi was nonexistent. Be warned when ordering the grilled chicken that it is actually fried. We enjoyed our stay here, but the lack of WiFi is why I’m only giving three stars.

Pretty good stay. The WiFi in the guesthouse was essentially nonexistent, which was a pain because we would have used it to plan out our next day’s activities. Nice breakfast is included, standard food for breakfast in Iceland. Very good location right off ring road. Our room was small, but had a water closet, with a shared shower down the hall. The room and bathroom facilities were clean. Pillows and bedding weren’t the comfiest, as the pillow was very lumpy.

Relatively cheap but comfortable (and very spacious!) self-catering cottage. Pretty basic and a bit tired-looking interior, but I would say that it perfectly matched our expectations given the price we paid. The only real nuisance was the half-broken and very dangerously-looking kettle plug. Other reviewers mention unfriendliness of staff, so we were prepared for a bit of struggle, but there was literally nothing to complain about. Bedding, kitchen and bathroom were clean. Location was also quite convenient for our travel plans, so all-in-all we're happy.

Fake WiFi Access, the reception will say they have WiFi but very slow, but the truth is no WiFi, it just a fake hot spot. I can’t use it even around the mid-night.

Bed is not that comfortable, heater is no functional.

Area is too small, if you need kitchen a lot, don’t choose here.

Hot water is always not enough, only can afford 2 ppl to use it.

Location is ok, nearby road NO. 1.
Price is ok, but I won’t choose here again.
With good parking lot.
View is nice.

Cabins are great value for families at 99€ p/n. Overpriced if you are just 2. Beds are horrid, especially doubles. Home made without central beam - sink in badly.

Did not feel like an atmosphere of a guest house. It felt more like a hotel as opposed to a guest house. Our room had everything that we needed, but unfortunately the kitchen area was rather limited. No stovetop nor microwave, only a sink and a kettle. The included breakfast in a separate building was great with a wide selection of foods.

The Horgsland Cottages has a different type of accommodation. My review applied to the big white building with multiple rooms.
1 – Noice
The place is very noisy. At the morning you will hear noice at all rooms in the building. When people walking in the coridor you will feel like they are walking in your room.
2 – Room
Room was very big. It's suateble for four person. Furniture in the room was so simple, that you can't even sit together. So the only option is to go into your bed.
3 – Bunk bed.
The slats in the bunk bed that we had in the room were broken. Not all, but quete a lot.
4 – Cleanliness
The room was clean, but becouse of the road surface outside you will get a lot of small stones/dirt into the room and the floor will become very dirty.
5 – No wifi signal and the 3G signal is poor.

From positive side The Horgsland Cottages has a hot tubs. They are cool.
Breakfast was not bad, but no hot food.

And the main minus is the price. For the price that they are charging you it is a rip off.

No hot water in the sinks. 2 toilets total. One stall has a sink and there is a small counter with a sink just outside the stalls. One very small shower with a dirty floor. Staff was nice and helpful.

Quaint cottages. Awesome that they had a kitchenette for cooking. Rooms don't have blackout shading, internet was extremely slow, and the cabin creaks massively when moving around.

Adorable cottage right up against the mountain. Fantastic views. Hot tub. Has a charcoal grill. Great location for exploring the south coast. The staff was also incredibly kind.

Very basic and not worth the price.

Four of us stayed there for a night in the hostel-like guesthouse as we were heading towards Skaftafell for a glacier hike. We had booked two rooms, each with private bathrooms, but my partner and I had to stay in a room with a communal shower. While our room was just opposite the shower room, which wasn't too bad, we would regularly hear people loudly showering and talking through the door throughout the night.

The floors of our room were quite grimy as well, and would make your feet feel a bit dirty after you walked on them. The duvet and pillows weren't great either, but the mattress was firm but comfortable. There didn't seem to be any sheets on the duvet either!

While there were two hot tubs there, the first one we tried would go no hotter than 30° Celsius. The second hot tub was a bit better but still not great.

The wi-fi was essentially non-existant, although the lovely woman at the reception when we arrived that night did warn us that it was pretty bad.

The breakfast was really nice, there were loads of options including granola, yogurt, cereal, teas and coffees and sandwiches, although it was quite limited for those with dietary restrictions. The staff was also very friendly!

All in all, it was ok for spending one night if you have to, but there are nicer locations for a better price.

Great cabins, but our pans were so dirty we couldn't use them. Since we'd arrived very late we had to forego a hot dinner and in the morning, yhey were happy to get us new ones, but by the time that happened, we'd had to check out. But, the cabins themselves are great. There wasn't anything specific in the area I knew I wanted to do ad we were on a bit of a crunch so this was just a stopover spot to sleep for us. I'm sure there are hikes around, though.

Fairly large, private cottages that offer a well equipped kitchen, a good shower and comfortable beds. The installations are starting to show some age, but they are well maintained. Very good value for the money, and a strategic base to explore the south and southeast coast of Iceland. Wifi is spotty, especially in the cottages located away from the main building. Recommended.

I stayed its guesthouse which is near cottages. Cottage looks more beautiful but guesthouse is not bad, either. There is no equipment to cook but they provide a small desk for you. Since there are no signs to show where is reception, I took some time to find the host at the first cottage near the main road No. 1 from Hof direction. You can also enjoy breakfast here. Because of its desolate location, it is a good place to see aurora. Just walk out of guesthouse or cottage and look back to the mountain, you can see there is gentle light hiding behind the mountain.

Please be aware that this place has no working hot tub. The owner can only be found in his own house in his bathrobe. He advertises the hot tub on Booking however claims it's a service and therefore not included in the price. He refuses to even talk about a refund and claims he speaks no English when you bring up the subject. If you try to argue that it's advertised and therefore should be available he accuses you of trying to fight him.
We found out the hot tub had been out of order for 3 months when we arrived so it's safe to say mr. bathrobe makes no effort to fix this. Additionally, there is very limited hot water so be prepared: only a couple of minutes of hot shower a day.
Houses are old and poorly maintained but the view is amazing and the price is low.
