Two Macdonnell Road is a great place to spend a couple of days or months. The rooms are spacious by Hong Kong standards. The staff is friendly and eager to make your stay even more pleasant. Two Macdonnell is in an upscale residential area so it it is not particularly convenient for dining or shopping but a bus runs by the front door and taxis are plentiful. We paid 4-7 USD for rides downtown depending on traffic.

High value for money. One of the favorable upscale places of choice in mid level. For less than $100 per head, you could enjoy afternoon tea here. Plus parking is free.

We stayed here for 4 days and it was a very memorable stay. Having a 1.5 year old infant, we required a decent sized serviced apartment and this was perfect. We were initially provided a room in the top most floor, however since the water pressure was very poor , we were prompty changed to another room which was much better.

There is a on-site restaurant serving food and coffee throughout the day which is a plus. However the food is not very tasty. The buffet breakfast is good value.

The best part was also the people here. Very friendly and helpful and we were assisted with hailing a taxi everytime. The bub was happy as well.

    Highly recommend this place.

The ground floor is under construction, which we were not warned of. When we asked the doorman where to check in, he initially ignored us and opened the door for us to leave. We had to make it clear, multiple times, that we had a reservation and needed to check in. He replied in a condescending tone, as if to imply that he either didn’t believe that we had a reservation, or that we didn’t belong in the hotel. When we were finally told that check in was on the 8th floor, and went up to check in, we were told that we had to pay an additional deposit that we were not previously made aware of. Being that we are only in Hong Kong for two days (on business), we did not bring a lot of cash. We paid for the flight, hotel, and additional necessities before arriving so that everything would already be taken care of and hassle free. Any money we have with us is for transportation, food, and fees related to our business. This means that we had to use our business money to pay the deposit, leaving us with insufficient funds for our business needs. When we tried to explain our dilemma to the desk staff, they just nodded their head and brushed it off, making it very clear that they simply don’t care. Now, we are finally to our room and we discover that several lights and outlets do not work. Additionally, there are no outlet adapters in the room and, thanks to the unexpected deposit, we do not have spare cash available to buy an adapter. We also noticed that the room is painfully cold. We tried to turn on the heat, but it does not work. We called the front desk and they told us that the heater for the room does not work. They actually told us that we will need to use a space heater We payed quite a bit extra for a 4 star hotel as we assumed it would be a much nicer, more pleasant experience. So far, though, it seems to have been a mistake.

    *EDIT*
It has now been nearly a month sense we stayed in this hotel, and they have still never refunded our deposit. You know, the one that they assured us would be refunded the moment we checked out yeah, that one. We have now been jumping back and forth with multiple people, on the phone, trying to figure out what hoops we need to jump through in order to have our "deposit" returned to us.

We love it here! We got a room with a view (during CNY). It’s in a quiet area across the road from Hkg Zoological Garden and waking distance from hkg Park - I.e. surrounded by greenery. Walking down is easy enough, walking back up is a bit of a slog, good for those who don’t mind a workout each day after the many meals in Hkg! The room also comes with a small kitchen for those who like to self-cater. No ingredients or washing up liquid provided though. I personally found the bed too hard and the pillows not very bouncy. Still I would recommend it overall!

Great hotel and great clean confortable rooms located in a central location with great access to taxis and buses. Members of Staff are very polite and helpful and breakfast was well put together with a great selection of local dimsum and your usual. Suspects, omelettes are cooked to order. 10/10

Absolutely memorable stay here! For new year eve it's a special night spent here. The views are fantastic, layout and decor beautiful. Beds are very comfortable and this place is spotless! We love it here so so much! The sofa is also cozy and comfy we watched movie here enjoyed Fantastic night. Bathtub is clean and large hot water stable too. It would be nice if they could provide tea bags. Not walkable to central would recommend Uber or taxi.

We stayed here for the NYE. Service is great and attentive. Staff are helpful and nice. Location wise, it is a bit far away if you walk from the central station. But if you take taxi or uber, it takes just few mins. The highlight of the hotel must be the view from the room, spectacular landscape of mid levels, worth for it.

Amazing views of the city. Very close to the botanic gardens and close to a supermarket. Clean but small rooms. The beds are a lot harder than the beds in Australia or America. The staff are really accommodating and offer great service when you need more toothpaste, towels, washing up things or an ironing board.

Things I liked about here –
    Location
Though not directly related to the place itself, it’s Mid-Level! Right next to Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. Meaning even if you’re lazy or it’s a hot day, you can step out for a bit to entertain the child and be back. A supermarket next door. A very nice vegetarian restaurant next door (read about it in my food blog?). 12A bus to Central, Admiralty and a few more stops in the city, all day. Their own shuttle bus on weekdays, mornings and evenings to similar stops.

    Views
They’re good. Tall buildings and a bit of Hong Kong skyline. I believe the other side of the building has better views.

    Induction Cooktop
I’d heard about it but never got to using it. And it seemed good. Looks like those coil based ceramic / glass cooktop, only super faster. And apparently more energy efficient and doesn’t heat up the ambient as much as regular cooktops would.

    Staff
    Polite, friendly, prompt.

    Things I less-liked (if that’s a term) about here

Clean basic hotel close to Central. Staff is attentive and helpful. If you want to eat at the szechuan place across the street, make reservations in advance. While it's a good location, you will need to walk or take a taxi for dining and entertainment.

Good place. Good service and amenities. Spacious rooms. Only problem- over priced. If you are looking for a quiet place with breathtaking views at lesser prices, visit Bay Bridge by hotel G in Tsuen wan.

If you look for a stay out of the crowded and expensive central area, but still well connected with the city center, that's a good choice. Quite wide rooms, handly service , few hotel facilities.

Amazing views. Easy access, shuttle bus and room service for lunch and dinner. The biz center and staff are only sometimes reliable, so it is maybe better for visiting couple who wants a kitchen and a view.

A service appartment that gives you your money's worth. Reasonably priced rooms, clean, cold, cozy, a little outdated but still a good find and comfortable place to rest. Suite is equiped with a mini fridge, kettle, stove, microwave and basic cutlery and china. Staff at the check in could use a little more charm and training but guys at reception are really wonderful and helpful when asking for directions. Cafe staff are well trained as well. Situated around other residential buildings, visitors will have no problem going to and fro since they have a shuttle that goes to most popular take off spots in the city and it's really easy to hail a cab or Uber outside. Bus 12A makes a stop down the road as well. Not many restos near by but there's a grocery in one of the close buildings called Fusion that has a pretty decent selection. Enjoy your stay here!

I am put up at 2 MacDonnell Road service apartment by my organization. I am here for 6 months and hence wanted to be particular on the place. When I came here, I checked out the room and found them very comfortable. I stay in the Junior Suite and it's 475 sq.ft. Pretty adequate for 1 person. Infact, it can easily accommodate a family. Only problem is that there isn't any decent super market or stores around here. Only Fusion is there and it is pretty expensive. But a very peaceful location. Bang opposite the HK Botanical Park
