Very lively crowd. Has darts, beer pong, and a questionair contest often where you could win 100 USA dollers. Right on the edge of lake. Hotel is on the other side of the street. Large building with many rooms and hammocks to chill in. Has a gathering spot with couches to relax in with your friends. Prices are moderate, food is great. Many games are at night.
It was so much fun staying here! Originally just used Wi-Fi and had a beer to check an email about the place we were supposed to stay (which ended up being full). Super happy they were though as the people there are so friendly! You also have to jump off the blob!
If you're looking for a great party and fun times then you're in the right place. The good part is the dorms are away from the action of the bar so you can actually get some sleep if your roommates are courteous.
Just stopped in for some drinks when we were looking for a place to stay right after we got into town. It's a nice spot, though definitely a party/ frat house kinda vibe. Not sure why it's so popular because it seemed really expensive. Beers cost as much as anywhere else if not more and the rooms were WAY more expensive than elsewhere. A private room with a shared bathroom is 250Q here whereas down the street you can find a better room with a private bathroom and great view of the lake for 130Q. I don't get the draw of this place but if you have the money to spend and are looking for people to party with this might be your place.
Staff was super friendly! Beautiful location. Great drink specials.
Hostel Fe has changed recently from owner (Chris now). You can really feel his positive vibes into the hostel as many rooms have new bathrooms etc. Also the workers and volunteers are working with a smile and would do everything to help you. With his nice spot at the edge of lake Atitlan and his wonderfull views I could only recommend this hostel to all kinds of people, going from people seeking rest (not loud) to party lovers.
Great atmosphere with decently priced drinks. Has an activity every week.
Lots of backpackers working here. Makes me wonder if jobs are being taken from the locals. Well organised though, can't fault those who do work there
Amazing place. I was only supposed to stay 2 nights but ended up staying 2 weeks. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The hammocks, terrace and roof top provide incredible views of the lake.
The cleaning staff are friendly and keep the hostel clean. The food is excellent (the pizzas and Thai green curry are excellent). The bar staff are amazing and never seem to stop. They know nearly everything around the lake and if they don't they will find out for you.
The Friday night quiz is EPIC. The hostel is fun all week but Friday night is another level. Free entry, $100 prize and plenty of free drinks!
Be warned though, this place is a party place. They know what they're doing and how to do it. If you want 10 hours sleep 6 nights of the week then maybe don't stay here. Do however make sure that the 7th night is the night that you go and party and stay at Fe!
Cheers guys. I will be back!
I have traveled all over Mexico, Belize and Guatemala and stayed at many hostels. When I came to San Pedro and checked into hostel Fe I was greeted with exceptional help and friendliness. The staff treats you like family and even welccomed me with a free tequila shot! My 4 days were spent having so much fun and interacting with people from all over the world. Quiz night was a highlight for me. Thank you hostel fe for making my time so exceptional. I will be back some day to visit you all! Cheers
I highly recommend this unique party hostel in san pedro, with very cheerful atmosphere all the time, the staff guys are very friendly and fun and always available for any need or question you may have. All the rooms have a beautiful view of the lake and hammocks along the corridor all very clean and tidy.
Came here for 4 nights.
Pros:
Good food at the restaurant
Breakfast is included and is nice
Friday trivia night is fun
Secure at night with a guard at the gate.
Cons:
There is no real reception in this hostal. The reception is concieved of the (always, and I mean literally 24-7) drunk volenteers. When I got there I got a very rude and dooshey treatment by one of the volenteers - a guy from New Zealand with long hair. This happened a few times for some reason. To my friends as well.
He also said he wouldn't give me one of the cheaper private rooms because the staff use that room as a 'shak' room.
For Christ sake, get a receptionist. This looks really bad.
The rooms:
I stayed in a private room, but also visited my mates in the dorms, and checked out the other bathrooms since mine wasn't working so well (toilet wouldn't flush, terrible cold showers).
There is no hot water whatsoever in this hostel. It uses the electrical heaters, the one in my room had Sparks come out of it a few times and didn't work well, the others didn't do their job even after waiting for a few minutes.
The rooms are badly painted and look bad, in any standard (unfinished paint job).
My room had a broken window that was always open for bugs to come in.
There was no soap in my bathroom for washing my hands. I would expect that, having a private bathroom.
My toilet was broken and the lever for flushing didn't do anything.
When you take a shower, the whole bathroom floods because the curtain isn't good and is old and weary.
Also, as usual for south America, you need to put toilet paper in a bin. Their 'bin' is a bucket with no bag in it, and smelled up the whole bathroom when I was there.
The shared bathrooms as well are extremely dirty.
Bottom line - I had a good time with the people I met. That is the only reason I didn't move right out (some friends of mine did). Usually for party hostels you are willing to give up some comfort for the parties, but the bar is across the street and is apart from the hostel, And I see no real reason to stay here. You can get the same prices and cheaper from other hostals around and get MUCH more value for your money. And still come to the bar at night.
I've been to hundreds of hostals and this one needs a change. Hope guys turn it into what it could be. For now - I would recommend to stay away.
Not worthy, 10 dollars for a dirty dorm with no windows, uncomfortable bed and cheap staff. The view was good, but you have the same in every other hostel.
Great service. Good food. Great drink specials. Epic trivia night.
Self described party hostel is a code name for poorly maintained facility. It's not a bad place to crash, but it's not even the best place to party in a small town.
Nice, cheap and cheerful hostel in the beautiful town of San Pedro on Lake Atitlan. Staff are really friendly. The bar is always buzzing with people. If you feel like partying this is the place to be in San Pedro. If you are daring enough why not jump into the lake from the jumping platform.
Such a fun place amazing staff thank you
Good party hostel, bar with solid deals. The rooms are so so, very basic but it's a great location.
Trivia night was a blast! The food was pretty generic American food and was good but I wouldn't say great. If you're there it's convenient but I wouldn't go there for food alone.
