I did a site inspection of this hotel last week, having first visited the property 29 years ago, in 1989 when I arrived in the country. Last week the property looked slendid, lots of it has been remodeled, the charming sales manager invited me to lunch, the food was full of variety and very good. We also went to the beach club in the little train that the hotel provides free of charge. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to someone who is looking for something cheap and cheerful.

I stayed here for 3 days in April 2018. The reviews about disrepair are accurate and some of the food is just average. But

That said, the staff was perfectly polite and helpful. Despite the disrepair, the place is immaculate. The buffets are a solid B+ if you pick the right things (target made-to-order stuff).

One of the groundskeepers gave me a coconut today after he cut it from a tree.

While writing this review, some random elderly man walked into the lobby piano and started playing concert-quality. He's still crushing it.

At 55$ a night, this place was an UNBELIEVABLE deal and I do not understand the venom in some of these negative reviews.

The architecture is like a 19th century Victorian village. The staff is kind and attentive. Rooms are older decor but spacious - We had a Master suite. We had two problems that were addressed promptly. Bring your own towels for the room Housekeeping is slow to provide these for you and there are no hand towels or washcloths. Down side - too many people pushing Lifestyles resorts to you. On the beach, too many walking vendors.

We slept well, food was good, and a great family atmosphere. Ww most likely will visit again

Stay away, this place is the pits. I stayed here for a 4 days in Jan 2018. Beds are old and stained and have bugs, roaches infected rooms, old dated furniture, NO hot water at all, air conditioner dripped water, and terrible front guest relations. I complained about my room and no hot water, nothing was done and my room was already paid for through Travelocity. I complained to Travelocity and they stopped emailing me back. Bottom line is, go somewhere else. This place is the dumps. The food was nasty and I'd never come back here again. Other patrons staying there had the same complaints. Beware!!!

Low quality suite. Really outdated over all. Water is pouring out in wall sockets and celings. There is better rooms but maybe they try put you in these worse rooms first.

Dirt cheap, all inclusive food and drinks, a beautiful pool with a SWIM UP BAR OH MY GOD I drank so much lordy. The place is cheap for a reason, like cold showers, some general disrepair, our toilet didn't work, I fixed it myself lol. Wifi is spotty as hell. Despite all kinds of small problems, I've had an amazing week and would love to come back every year.

We went there for our 1 year anniversary. The people checking us in were very rude to my husband when he was speaking Spanish but once I spoke in English to them they changed their attitude. Our room didn’t have any towels, the furniture was super old, the toilet was leaking water, and the telephone wire was broken. There wasn’t any variety of food in the buffet and the only two other restaurants that they have were closed. The workers in the beach area were rude and didn’t allow us to use any of the “free” activities they had available. The hotel looked NOTHING like the photos. Very disappointing!! Not recommended!

Hotel is ok from the price/delivery aspect. Staff nice. Cleanliness good. It needs a big overhaul but than it would cost double the price. Excellent garden maintenance. Beautiful nature. Huge place with many buildings. The modern rooms are top. AC, fridge, etc. Crowded with locals on the weekends.

Hmm.. IDK where to start. Complete false advertisement from the pictures on the website. The garden is simply dirt, the pool is smaller than an indoor school pool. Updates are definitely in order for this place, I just wish I would stay at the Cofresi Palm but I checked out to fly home and learned my flight was cancelled song booked this place and don't even wanna sleep here Thanks Hurricane Irma for the 2nd cancelled flight

IT WAS HORRIBLE! I WAS ROBBED IN THIS HOTEL. I past the worst vacation and birthday of my life in this hotel, the first day that I was in I was robbed inside the hotel and the administration did nothing. I even when to the police to fill a report but my belongings were not recovered.

Poor maintenance galore. I booked 4 suites for a group I was traveling with and 3 of the rooms did not have hot water. My room had paint peeling from the bathroom ceiling all over the floor. Also there were 3 people in my room, but they only gave us 2 bath towels and one drinking glass. Too many more problems to go into. Save your money and go to another resort in this complex.

This is my worst hotel stay. I could not wait to leave. The furnitures in the room was old. The bathroom was dirty. The airconditioned did not work. The room did not have a fridge or iron. The bed was old. I left with a backache. The food was horrible. They woke you at 9am to clean the room and when you used the no disturbed sign and left the room at 11am it was not cleaned for that day. I was warned by another guest on the day of my arrival to keep all my valuables with me. The hotel taxi quarelled with my taxi driver..accusing him of stealing the hotel clients. It was just a bad experience. I stayed there because all the other hotels were filled. I will never go back to this hotel, even if they offer it for free.

Slowest ever. Terribly slow reception. We arrived on time and expected to have our rooms available. They urged us to enjoy their complimentary bar and snack lounge for 3 hrs meanwhile they promised us and other guest rooms emmidiately. Food and drink are barely substantial to keep us from going mad while we wait. Pool, beach and bar area are hardly UpTo holiday standards

I'm not go waste my time giving this HELL hole a long review. I'd rather be in jail than be at this resort, matter of fact it's like a prison. Didn't stay 24 hours, the best food item on the menu was beans & rice, the sand on the beach makes you itch, the room was disgusting and customer was top 5 worst I've experienced in my life. The only part I enjoyed is telling the sells representative HELL NO when asking me did I want to invest in piss poor establishment. When he was trying to sell me the idea of buying into this gold turd. I gave it 1 star because GOOGLE made me 😇.

We had a fantastic experience at Puerto Plata Village. Excellent room, great food and choice. Drink as much as you like. Swimming pool with a bar in the middle of it is super cool. Staff were the most welcoming I have ever encountered . Would go back.
