I paid only 20eur per night and the location is good so I suppose the value/price is great. However, the shared bathrooms are extremely small. It was really hard to even change clothes inside

Despicable.Disgusting. It is with utter sadness to declare that there is such an hotel in this country. Every inch of the bedroom lack hygiene and sanity. DO NOT COME HERE! The staff cannot do their jobs properly! The beds are Broken. The images on Google are not as they look like. We
Despicable .Disgusting. Es ist mit großer Traurigkeit zu erklären, dass es in diesem Land ein solches Hotel gibt. Jedem Zentimeter des Schlafzimmers fehlt es an Hygiene und Gesundheit. KOMM NICHT HER! Die Mitarbeiter können ihre Arbeit nicht richtig machen! Die Betten sind kaputt. Die Bilder bei Google sind nicht so, wie sie aussehen.

Low price, high quality. Don't expect luxury, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. There's plenty of snacks and drinks available and breakfast is an option as well.
Aside from that, the location is very convenient, right around the corner of the city center.response / report this review -

- No air ventilation
- No air conditioning
- No enough parking spaces
- Water was not going throw the gutter

I chose the A&O Hostel Neumarkt because I had an appointment close to this place, and I was very disappointed by the room I got (single room) compared to the price I paid (around 73€ for 1night): the room was really small (like a boarding school room,) the curtains were broken, and the bed not so confortable it would have been ok for a cheap price, but when you pay 73€ the night, you expect a much better room and service

Okay for the price, cheap hotel. Big rooms. Room was clean beds are okay for a few nights. Breakfast okay but also lots of bakeries in the area so you don't really need it. Area is great place to start your trip in Cologne. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

You get what you pay for. It's cheap and good for the price. I don't get their 'bring your own bedding' -policy. I've spend only 1,5 hours in bed (the party was more fun than I initially thought) and both my lower legs are covered in bed bug-/flee bites. It's really hard for any hotel/hostel to prevent those things, but include bedding in the price and forbid people to bring their own is a good way to start with. I never bring my own bedding to prevent bringing those kind of horrible creatures back home.
And the rooms could use some ventilation especially since the heating is at full strength at night, imagine the smell/air quality when you go to bed in a 8-dorm at 7.40 in the morning 😏response / report this review -

Room was adequate and clean, double room was just two single beds pushed together without a two single duvets. Plenty of facilities. Check in was easy. Half hour walk to Cologne centre

-3/4 of reception was rude to waiting guests.
They preferred not to serve you and treat you like enemy.
-Waited in the lobby 2.5 hr for a room then told by my roommate 5 beds were available all night and there wasn't a need to wait.
- Security runs this like a prison.
Went looking for a guest kitchen is the basement because of signs. Hostel hostile security staff told me it was in renovation and acted like I was doing something wrong for being there. Needs to be fired for having no people skills.
Perceived feeling A&O were tricking you into paying for standard items. A charge of 3.50€ for linen should be included in the price.
Even I think a 3.5€ fee for using a credit card.was perceived as a low class.
If they modelled their operation like HOSTEL INTERNATIONAL they would have customer repeats and support using a membership program.
