A rhum, a cigar, a view over the ocean in an old mansion. Sums up Cuba pretty well.

Cost:
7 nights $1848CUC/$1848USD/$2300CDN All inclusive unlimited golf and cart with breakfast and dinner. Beverages extra, even still water. Other resorts offered unlimited golf but cart cost $33CUC per person. My wife and I played 7 rounds so effective cart 3savings $473CUC thereby, in my opinion, reduced our hotel cost to $1375CUC or $196.50CUC per night for the two of us.
Golf:
Varadero Golf Course is the only 18 hole facility in Cuba. A reasonably challenging layout but very accessible for the new golfer(my wife) from the forward tees. Wind direction and velocity really changes up the holes especially #18. Extremely busy so book all your tee times at the beginning of your stay.
The Mansion:
Delightful glimpse of the 30's aka a scaled down Downton Abbey or Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries locale. Staff extremely attentive. Jorge asked for comments and suggestions many times during our stay. No toilet seat?? new one installed the next morning. No salmon on the menu, got it in two days. Sincerely interested in our comments and suggestions to improve the Mansion. Restoration is ongoing but never interfered with our stay.
Bottom line:
A wonderful non-resort style vacation for golf lovers.response / report this review -

I Visited and was given a tour of the Dupont Mansion it is a beautiful eight room accommodations with wonderful golf grounds. Wine cellar and a restaurant . Further interest in the Zanadu Masion aka Dupont Estate would like to stay as a guest and give it a full review on all

A must see hotel if you are in the Varadero area. We didn't book far enough in advance to stay there, but the rooms are beautiful with large ceilings. The bar at the top is lively, and they have great mojitos and a great band. The lobster dinner was excellent. The day we went their credit card machine was down so we had to pay cash. So come prepared. They have an amazing all inclusive package of hotel, golf, breakfast and dinnerbut book months in advance.

Visited the place and the views are astonishing and beautiful. The restaurant is well decorated and with live music at night, the perfect couples date night. The mansion is also a Hotel and they offer wedding services/packages. I went to talk to the manager of the place to have my wedding at the mansion, on day one they mentioned one price, the next another price, like the price is at their discretion of whether they like you or are you "worthy". Needless to say the manager offended me enough to the point that it was enough to reconsider having the wedding at another venue. If you are looking to have your wedding here, go for the pictures, don't go for the service, or the food, it is just bad. Horrible management that reflects poorly of whoever owns the place.
