Do not book this hotel. We were 4 adults and booked an all inclusive 2bhk apartment for 1 night. The apartment was on the 2nd floor of a sea facing building. There was dust all over the staircase and stains. The entire room looked as it was last accesed a year back. Stained, dirty, smelly, broken shower. We walked out immediately and asked for a change of room. After 4hrs of wait we were offered 2 rooms. The quality of these rooms were not that great either. They did not agree for a refund and it was too late for us to rebook a new place. There is only one bar in lobby that offers beverages with basic selection. The restaurant food is stale with flies. We ate every meal outside. A complete waste of money and time. The only good thing was the access to beach but then you have that throughout varadero. We ended up booking a Casa for our 2nd night which had beach access.

I will begin with the positives of this resort because that list is far shorter. The beach was beautiful and clean. The location of the resort was great. Staff were friendly but mainly spoke Spanish with very little knowledge of any other languages.The Ac worked as well as the Tv. Pool was clean and warm. The food was alright but not anything to be desired.

Now to bring up the negative of this resort. They advertise a lot of items on this resort that are either non existent or very terrible.

1.First of all we spent 7 days at this resort and they did not change the sheets at all for the entire 7 days. We knew this due to myself and my friends makeup rubbed off on the white sheets the first day and remained there until the day we left.

2.We did not have hot water for the shower. the entire trip

3.We had bugs in our room ( not in the bed) due to the lack of sweeping and mopping in our hotel room.

4.They advertised wifi in the lobby, beach towels provided, bar on the beach, smoke free property, wake up call service, gym and cocktails.

There was no wifi in the hotel, you had to walk 6 blocks to another hotel to stand outside and use it. Super inconvenient when trying to book flights and check flight updates. Beach towels were not provided period. There was no bar on the beach at all. People were smoking all over the hotel, in the lobby, in hallways and didnt have a problem blowing it into your face. Our phone didnt work in the hotel so we were not able to get a wakeup call. The gym was locked and looked like it hadnt been inservice for many years not to mention all the equpitment was either damaged or not able to be used at all. AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT OPTIONS FOR COCKTAILS IE, PINA COLADAS, STRAWBERRY DAQUIRES, SEX ON THE BEACH ECT
If you do not speak spanish do not attend this hotel, mostly locals go to this resort and all activities are spanish.

If you do attend this resort you will need ; all bathroom items, spanish to english dictionary, snacks for when the all inclusive food is closed, water, money, towels.

I think this resort needs an overhall and the fact that it is rated a 3 star is laughable. I had a great time in cuba but will definitly be choosing a better resort for our next visit.

I absolutely loved this resort, it's a bit of a smaller one, but it's right downtown within walking distance to shopping, the mall, bank, food, bars, bus stop etc. The food at the hotel was good, but the same for most part, as I said there's so many food options, there's a nice pizza place down the road and it's extremely cheap to eat out 20CUC for four people, or another location that serves fries and burgers etc. They do have a snack bar at the resort as well. it's an beachfront resort and it's all inclusive. The staff is so friendly, and since it's so small you get to know them quite well. I honestly would recommend this resort to someone who is adventurous, just because of the location. If you end up going to Havana you can hire a taxi for the day and negotiate a rate, four of us went for $150 cuc (tip included) they have things like kayaking, going on the boats, nighttime shows and so on. The ocean is so clear and you're able to swim in it without any fish or anything.
10/10 recommend
*don't tip in Canadian $$, it's useless to them and convert your money to CUC not USD

foyer of the hotel is wonderful and the staff are great. room condition dirty and rather a lot of black mold which the maid seemed to miss.
Worst thing about this hotel was the food. the restaurant is well decorated and the staff friendly but they seem to be in the habit of bringing out food served at luke warm or room temperature especially chicken and pork which just becomes a haven for food poisoning so out of my seven days I was ill for five of them not impressed this is basic food hygiene folks whether its Cuba or not plus they will hide pork in all sorts of other dishes I would not stop here again I really think the tour operators should take a close look at this before they really make someone ill.

The hotel is past his prime. Location for the hotel is excellent. The all inclusive program corresponds to the hotel category. The traveler must realize that it is in Cuba. I was satisfied.

Just got back from 1 week stay 1st time at Tropical. march 6th 2016
Food was as good or better than other 4 - 4 1/2 stars in Cuba we have stayed at.
Room was 3 star, road side is quieter, got moved to ocean view at no extra charge.
Was nice to be in town and take part in anything you wanted to at your door step.
Resort is small music is load, only place to hide from it is ocean beach.
Pool is only 3 feet deep in middle, so if your pool people this may not be the place for you.
Had a great time met some nice people, thought it was worth the money.

Terrible, shower didn't work, floor covered with sand, air conditioning didn't work, food was covered in flies. when there was any food at all. People were all very nice but the building and commodities were severely lacking. The further you go away from the mainland down the Veradero strip the nicer the hotels are.
