Right on the beach with nice staff. Rooms are a bit old and house keeping isn't the cleanest but they're wonderful. The resort is in a great location, within walking distance to the main strip of Varadero. Short cab ride to the restaurants and shops.

Unfriendly staff at reception not very helped at all. Average buffet nothing special. Pool side bar staff were friendly.
Plus side the beach is amazing and it seems to be on the quieter end of the beach.

Obviously the beach is amazing.
The hotel is in bad condition. We had to change rooms because it reeked like smoke and there were springs popping out of the mattress. We had to go to three different rooms to find a "decent" one (water leaks, ac not working, etc). Food is pretty terrible, even for Cuban standards.
We found a few people who were really nice but in general the staff was rude and not willing to assist you. Speaking Spanish helped a bit.
Would not go back.

Really enjoyed our stay at Kawama.Staff are very friendly and helpful.Our room was great in the newer buildings especially considering the price very good deal. Kawama has a lot of repeat customers and hopfuly soon I will be one of them.The resort is at the start of the Penninsula which is good if your doing any outings you dont have to stop at numerous resorts to get to yours after a long day that becomes old.Kawama is right in the Town of Varadero which is great you can walk to restaurants or bars also shops and other places of interest. The beach is beautiful thats were we spent most of our time. I would reccommend Kawama to anyone I miss Cuba and her people. Go to the Tropicanna in Matanzas its amazing.
