It's not a bad resort for the price. Far from perfect but enjoyable. We switched buildings as our first rooms were unacceptable. The staff were accomadating with this (not speedy but pleasant) and the new rooms were much better. The food was below avg. Even for Cuba but we never went hungry, including the kids. For lunch go to the beach restaurant only!!! The resort is not fancy and somewhat plain but in decent shape. Just a little bit of effort would do this place wonders (example mold at the water level on the pool bar tiles and lots of it, just scrub it). The staff were lovely no complaints there. Beach is beautiful and pool was warm. For the money the place is sufficient but not overwhelming. All about expectations.
I visited on a day trip to Varadero. This hotel is great. Nice buffet available with lots of options. It has a path that leads directly to the beach! My only advice is get your towel quickly as they may run out and reserve your sun bed (at the beach) to get a good spot with shade.
Where to begin. The hot water that was only ever in one of our three rooms at a time, the 2/3 fridges that were broken, the AC unit that broke on the last day. The flickering lights. The pillows that I wouldn't even call "flat as pancakes" because pancakes are fluffier than they were. The hard loud beds (one of which was broken). Apart from three people, all the staff was unfriendly and entirely unhelpful (one bar tender literally told my 12 year old special needs cousin to go away). The broken toilet, the broken bidets, the broken shower (no water came out), the other broken shower (no knob to turn it on), the bathroom door that wouldn't close, and knob that was falling off. No shelves and only 5 hangers so we lived out of the suitcase. Oh ya, and the cockroaches! The list goes on! The only good thing I have to say is the food was much better than other places in cuba (but for the love of God don't eat the sushi).
The beds and rooms were immaculate and comfortable, and most of the staff were pretty nice. Food and drinks are included, however, I cannot be sure of the quality as I was overrun with an uncomfortable stomach ache for a day and a half. If you are hungry during the night, there is a snack bar open throughout where you can grab yourself something to eat. Entertainment (which is also included) was simple, but entertaining nonetheless. In the back, there is a clean beach with a fantastic view and clear waters where you can sometimes find a school of tiny fish. Great place for a vacation!
This resort did all the major things right. The rooms were serviceable, the food was plentiful and good, the drinks were good, the beach and pool were nice, and the staff were very nice. They are currently in the middle of a bunch of renovations so depending on which room you are in, your experience may vary. If you are a vegetarian, you will be let down with the food as there are very few vegetarian options, and when there are options without meat they are using the same cooking utensils to touch meat and vegetables. This is a solid resort with a very intimate feel.
Great value. We had a blast. Staff are friendly, place was well kept. Beaches are second to none. Only criticism is they lack night life..
Everyone there was very friendly, happy, and helpful. Awesome pool and beach, good food selections, and conveniently styled accommodations. Had a blast!
My Fiancee and I just returned from our vacation and we had a wonderful experience.
The staff went above and beyond to take care of us. They were friendly and fun and answered all of my endless "How do I say _____ in Spanish?" questions.
The food was delicious, and while different from what I am used to at home I was excited to see what would be there everyday. The restaurants offered a great alternative to the buffet; we went to Natura and Gideon.
The room was always clean with fresh towels and beautiful swans or flowers designed on the bed.
And the BEACH! Absolutely stunning. The sand was raked by tractors in the morning and it was so great to take out the kayaks and paddle boats offered by the resort.
I wasn't sure what to except, this was my first time away from Canada, and to get to experience a world so different from my own was both a privilege and a humbling experience. Thank you Cuba.
And Thank you to the staff and our Air Canada rep for giving us such a wonderful vacation!
My wife and I attended this resort along with another couple in May of 2017. Overall we had a good time. First of all special thanks to Santy at the front desk and Eddie for working tirelessly and always being helpful. An awesome coffee bar, a great bar and gift shop can be found in the lobby. The resort in my opinion comes as advertised. Always lots to eat and great evening entertainment from exciting dance shows to a rock band tribute that played the likes of AC DC and Guns and Roses. The beach is simply beautiful! ! Sunsets over the water and lovely flowered grounds with wonderful gardeners. So to all who helped make our vacation memorable in Cuba, Thank you so much! In closing ,if it's a perfect vacation without issues along the way you are seeking , I wish you the best of luck. Be open minded, see how hard these people work for you and resolve the little hurdles along the way. Remember it's called vacation for a reason. Love you CUBA see you soon!
Wonderful hotel , amazing service from all staff members. No regrets in choosing this hotel over others. Actually happy you have to walk around to get to different services and that it is not a one solid building.

Just literally got back home from this hotel , we was moved to this hotel because of Hurricane Irma and stayed another week after the aftermath.
These people worked tirelessly trying to make this hotel function as best as possible due to lack of power and Hurricane damage I have nothing but respect for all the staff all doing their bit to make it work for the customers.
We arrived at the resort on Tuesday September 5, 2017. On Friday September 8, 2017 were told at breakfast to go to our rooms and stay there till the storm goes over. Around 1:30 p.m.one of the maids came to our door with lunch. It was raining heavily and at around 5:00 p.m. the maid came back with a hot supper and also gave us something for breakfast. Saturday the storm got stronger. The maid came and gave us lunch and later came and gave us supper. These people put their lives at stake to make sure we were safe. The resort did everything they could to keep us safe. On Sunday we went out and observed the damage. My heart went out to these people for there was so much damage . Because of them we made it home safely. I would like to thank them for all they did.
First and last time I ever go this hotel. Let's start by saying that the woman at front desk are extremely horrible. When we were checking in they barely wanted to help us and said if we wanted towel services that we had to pay for it.. I thought it was an "all inclusive hotel". We spoke Spanish to make it easier on them and they treated us like we weren't human beings. And when American tourist came in they kissed their ass up and down , almost like Spanish speakers weren't welcomed.
Second: The rooms are filled with bugs. I woke up several times to find roaches crawling on me and my wife. There were mosquitos inside the room. My wife went to grab her bikini to find a centipede in her luggage.
Third: They told us we couldn't eat at any restaurants because we didn't have reservations and they were all booked for the rest of the week. They referred us to the buffet and that food was old and disgusting it had no taste and the variety sucked. As a Cuban-American I thought they would treat us different instead they gave us horrible services dirty rooms and a whole lot of attitude and as soon as they heard us speak English they tried to change the attitude around.
I know you're probably going to read this and dismiss it but in all honesty I hope you make the right decision of not going to this terrible unorganized establishment. They don't even deserve a 1 star. Never ever will I go there again.
Good place for chill out. Nice people working there. The hotel needs some maintenance but overall is fair for he price. Good place to meet international people.
For the price paid, this is a great resort. Food was very good by Cuban standards, even if a bit repetitive. Entertainment was ok but not great. Rooms are average. Bring your own re-usable mug for drinks & you'll get more (and reduce waste).
My family had a wonderful time here & we met many guests that had been there 5-10+ times. Any poor reviews are by guests that aren't properly considering the price paid. It's a great deal.
By far, the worse vacation experience in all my life!
If I wasn't forced to press on at least one star to rate this horrible hotel, I would have done so!
Part 1 - The Accommodations & Amenities
Not "really" a four star resort, by most world standards, but great value for the price if you want a resort in Cuba. Lovely staff, a simple room, great beach and access to great tours!
1st trip to Cuba with my wife, her sister and her sister's husband.
Room - nice but not fancy. There seemed to be a shortage of bath towels and free water during the day but our wonderful maid, Maria, ALWAYS made sure we got everything before late in the afternoon. LOTS of international channels on the satellite TV. Hallways to our building were very dark because the lights were only on from dusk to about midnight.
Food - I'm not a fussy eater but had been told the food in Cuba was bland. Was pleasantly surprised and there was always good selection at the buffet. The Cuban ala carte was surprisingly good. The Tex-Mex was ok but probably the least satisfying food all week.
Booze - It's free booze! The beer was ok, the mojitos were very good but I am now a big Cuba Libre drinker! Servers at the bars were quick and very friendly.
Staff - most were very friendly and quite helpful. Varying degrees of english-speaking ability amongst the staff that dealt directly with us, but it was more than passable. A big shout out to Katarine and Yordy at the main buffet bar and Maria at the Coffee Bar - we left them all big tips and lots of little presents when we left that you could tell they REALLY appreciated.
Beach - WOW!!! Lots of activities available.
I'd go again for sure!
I've been to several resorts in the past and have never had as bad as experience here than I have at the other places.
First of all, the service is horribly slow. The women at the front desk really like to take their time and actually made fun of some of my friend's names as we were checking in. Luckily I had some friends who spoke and understood Spanish to tell me they were laughing at our names. Very classy.
Amongst our group, I was roomed with 2 other girls - we were the only 3 person room in our group. However, we were placed in a room with only 2 beds while some of our friends were placed in rooms with 3 beds. This was very disappointing after I had explicitly asked the front desk if our room had 3 beds and she had told me that there was. We didn't receive a third bed until about halfway through our trip, and it was a skimpy fold-up bed (the other rooms had 3 full beds).
On our first day, our room did not have any towels, nor a water bottle (you are supposed to receive 1 bottle per day for free). A few days later, we did not get a bottle of water and we had to complain again.
Each room is supposed to have a big umbrella in it for the off-day that it does rain - ours didn't.
All the other resorts I have been to have had a group of entertainers that host scheduled activities every day for the guests and actively interact with the guests when they aren't participating in the scheduled activities. This resort had similar staff members except they mostly just stood in their little hut beside the pool and watched you. They did their little introduction for each activity, and their job was done. Very disappointing.
Let's just say I'd go back to Cuba, just not at this resort.
Disclaimer: Some of my friends didn't have as horrible of an experience as I did, but it just goes to show their inconsistency in service.
I stayed here in October 2016 with a friend! If you are looking for a clean, clean resort choose this one! The staff were very friendly and helpful! The food is Cuban quality food, if you don't think you'll like that then you'd be better off at a cookie cutter Mexican resort! Loved it so much that seven of us will be there in two weeks again! Beautiful beach!
The beach is gorgeous, the food is absolutely terrible, most of the people were friendly but also have their hand out for tips. the booze is watered down, the beach volley ball was played as per their posted time because quite often they didn't have a ball. very unorganized. not likely go back to this resort
It's a nice property. I'd rate higher if the drinks (alcoholic) were better, and there were better equipment in the gym.
I ordered a mojito that didn't taste like one at all, and the rum and coke tasted watered down.
The gym only had a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical machine, and a pull up/dip assist machine. I would have been happy with a full set of dumbbells, a bench, and a treadmill.
