Very pleasant hotel. Lots of activities on site. 5 ala Cart restaurants with nice food. Rooms ok, furniture slightly dated - but restored and clean. Lovely clean beach. Highly recommended- would definitely stay again

A lot of staff members are friendly , some are not, I guess everyone has his little " non friendly moment ".
The hotel, beach and pool are very very clean and beautiful especially the beach, white sand with some animation.
The food is alright but I prefer to drink.

Roomservice is clean, it's 1 pessos ( CUC ) For one hour of internet, what's alright.

There's a lot of people that "reserve" seats, at the beach or the swimming pool, what is actually restricted but the staff members do nothing about it, so you practically never have a place if you don't reserve aswel.

Animation is not that good, they do their best but the equipment is also from pre-war time.

For the rest it's alright.

We came here in October 2017. Shortly after the hurricane came thru. Everything was fine except the odd repairs. The Hotel Sol Elite Palmeras was not far from airport. The hotel was really well kept and tidy. Friendly staff. Beach is amazing. Lovely views and ocean is clean. Beach clean too! Mini put. Playground. Table tennis. Volleyball . Giant chess board and more. Food is ok. Drinks are great!

The hotel was nice and some staff were helpful and friendly. The majority of our experience was positive. We enjoyed our stay but that's mainly because of the sun and the ocean. We got food poisoning once from their seafood pasta. The hotel is under renovation so about 1/4 of rooms are newly renovated as seen in photos below. the other 3/4 (as of 2018) are still very old, damp and smelly. There are quite a lot of construction problems with the newer rooms. First of all, you are forced to waste towels to wipe the floor because the shower is designed so poorly and drainage is so slow that water overflows everywhere. We changed our rooms and it was the same issue. Staff told us this is a common problem.
The food in the a la carte restaurants suck except for the Italian one, which is exceptional. Nearly all meat in all restaurants are overcooked and hard as bricks. Seafood was great. Again got food poisoning from the live pasta station. Suspect their sauce was left in RT for too long. Doctor cost 50CUC to see. Don't expect the yummiest food, they are good but would get 2 star if we're in big cities for their taste.
Exchange is open from CAD USD EURO to CUC at the hotel.
But man hotel services are slow! But what the heck, it's time to wind down and enjoy the slow.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights from 29th Dec 2017, it’s a nice, clean and very relaxing place, has a big swimming pool and connecting beach.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and offers excellent service in all areas of hotel, in particular restaurant and bar area. Staff at
BarTequino were jolly, friendly, helpful, and service with smile.

Likewise same applies in the restaurant, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, in particular Idliman and her team.
They were always more then willing to look after their guest.

Plenty of choice of food in the restaurant, could improve by clearly marking and separating Veg and Non Veg dishes, as we found crossover contamination of utensils used by other guest specially if you are vegetarian. However, toward the end of our stay Mr Remus the head chef had made us special Veg dishes. Thank you👍👏🏼.

Overall good hotel to stay, would highly recommend.

Fell in love with Sol Palmeras. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room keeper Elisa was AMAZING! She left us little notes of appreciation everyday as a thank you for tips. We really felt like family. We are already planning next years trip to the same resort. Thank you for making our first trip to Cuba absolutely perfect!!!!

Great all inclusive experience. 5 á la carte restaurants to choose between for dinners, and a nice buffet that’s always open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. One big pool area and a long beach strip. A smaller and more relaxed jacuzzi area.

Tennis, minigolf, water activities, pool activities and more is available. A golf course not connected to the hotel is nearby.

You can choose if you want to stay in bungalows or in hotel room, we stayed in a bungalow and it was great. A bit of walking each day but it’s well needed considering all the food you’re gonna eat!

Lovely hotel! We did a family vacation for 5 days and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the bungalows and would highly recommend those. It was a little bit of a walk to the main building/beach but no more than 5mins. The food was good, you had to make sure things were cooked (omelettes, fish, meat) as we had some issues with undercooked meat.
Beach and pool were both very clean and very warm.
We did a day trip into Havana with Cuba Connections and would HIGHLY recommend that.
We left the day before Hurricane Irma hit and we would have appreciated some more communication on safety procedures during tropical storms due to the circumstances.
Overall, would be back.

Outdated, dirty, poorly maintained with staff dragging themselves to work. The beach is the only worth thing in the premises. Credit card is always a problem here, no matter where from - so bring a bucket full of cash. I suggest you see other options.

Great hotel we stayed in the bungalows and it was clean and comfortable.
Food was great lots of options and service was top notch!
Angel our waiter was always there for us but all staff members really did give great service.
The pool was ok but the beach was the best I have ever been to.
My son and I rode the complimentary bikes around the resort and also the paddle boats, kata marans, all complimentary but I always left a tip.
All in all we had an excellent time and will recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Cuba!
If I have to say one bad thing and really not that bad is the hotel is older so a reno would be truly welcomed.

Your money will be well spent elsewhere. Our biggest issue, beside waiting three hours at the airport upon arrival and arriving 1 hour late on the way back because of the transport company, is that we found glass in the food. Several members of the personnel did not show much about it and they were more concerned to repeat that it never happened before rather than apologize. We ended getting a late check out and a letter a apology but they handled it poorly from the get go.

Common areas and the beach were beautiful but besides that, the room was old and dirty. The food at the buffet is repetitive and is not of a high quality but it offers several choices.

You can expect 3 *** quality instead of four. I will not return to Cuba anytime soon.

Terrific hotel with great customer service. Food was good. However, transfer to the airport at the end of our stay was a disaster as it was 1.5 hours late and we had to rush through checkin, immigration and security. Lineups were insane at the airport and not very fun with an infant (with a dirty diaper which leaked all over my clothes) and a toddler. I wanted to do some shopping before boarding the plane but didn't have time. Apparently this has been happening for a week which delayed all planes. I don't know why it takes so long for the immigration part. They should do that at time of checkin. I also don't understand why they take pictures either when the passports already have photos. I also don't understand why strollers have to go through the xray machines as most airports allow to go through the metal detector without even being folded. Anyways, hotel was great and highly recommend it. We stayed at the bungalows which was quiet, comfortable and felt like a cottage.

Fantastic hotel on an amazing beach in a wonderful country.

We stayed at the Sol Palmeras over Christmas and had a wonderful holiday. The hotel is really well presented, is very spacious and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The rooms, like most hotels in Cuba, are a little tired, but if you're going to Cuba and spending a lot of time in your room you're doing it wrong! We had a junior suite which was ideal for a family of four with two young children (sharing a sofabed). We walked through the bungalows on one of our wanderings and while they looked nice they were quite some distance from the main hotel complex.

The beach and pool at the hotel are the real stars. The beach is fantastic soft sand and crystal clear waters (when the waves settle down). The pool is also great, with plenty going on without it ever seeming overly busy or crowded.

The hotel staff are really helpful. One of the ladies at reception organised a car and guide to take us to Havana for the day. It was an excellent way of seeing Havana (in a proper vintage car) and I'd definitely recommend this approach rather going on one of the organised tours on a coach. Havana is an amazing city and is a must visit given you're less than 2 hours drive away.

The food at the hotel was a lot better than we were led to believe before travelling. When researching hotels in Cuba I think it's important to rely on recent reviews as things are changing quickly. We found the food in the hotel to be plentiful, tasty and well prepared. Others we've spoken to have suggested to food is bland and you need to take your own dressings and sauces. We didn't find this and thought the food had plenty of flavour and there were more than enough sauces and dressings to add. I can imagine that over the course of 2 or 3 weeks (we stayed for 1 week) the buffet food at the hotel could get repetitive, but the onsite restaurants are easy to book, are included in the price, and do serve different dishes. The steak restaurant was our favourite.

Overall we had a great holiday and the Sol Palmeras was a big part of that. It's a hotel I'd recommend to anyone planning a visit to Cuba.
