Mold. Cockroaches. Outdated. Loud at night.
Changed room twice.
Broken bed, cable TV, A/C and safe.
Inconsistent hot water.
Some food was disgusting and repurposed.
No Wi-fi.
Grumpy staff, minus a handful.
Sheets and towels rarely changed.
Pros: One block from beach. Close to restaurants. Great chance to learn Russian, as the majority of the clientele are either local or Russian.response / report this review -

Going here for years, not your high end resort but clean and friendly staff. It's what it is. I come down to enjoy the weather and the people, not to stay in the room😊

First of all there's a phone in the bedroom in the picture but trust me there's no phone in the rooms
Room is horrible ! Old!
As for the food its tasteless and u can't even eat a thing!
Snack bar foodawful! Found hair in the panini!!!
Some staff are nice and some are very rude and they hardly smile!!only if u tip them they smile!
But some of the front desk staff are nice and helpful!
Rooms are so noisy u can't sleepesp when there s a loud group of people shouting 24 hours instead of talking!
I don't recommend to no one!i stayed 2 days then checked out to another 4 star hotel which was better!
For the price we paid we should have paid half of the amount and even less since its really not worthy any amount of money u pay!response / report this review -

We stayed end of February, early Mach at Acuazul. Good and bad things happended.

The sun, weather, beach, hotel staff and food were awesome. Nothing to complain with price we paid.

Now, the bar across the street was very noisy and they finished late 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning. We got a room facing the bar. We could not sleep the first night. We had to find refuge with a private house somewhere else the second night. We asked to move to another room, this time facing the pool in the back. The daily hotel show finished at 11 or 11:30, that’s fine, but then there was an open bar next to the pool, crazy and noisy folks there.
Then, the representative of Caribelsol was not serious. We signed and paid for an excursion to Cayo Blanco the day before we left. The day of excursion, our names were not on the list.
Last, beware of the horse carriage. They are quite expensive and especially not very honest. Whatever you negotiate, your agreement with them, 10 CUC for two people, 10 CUC for round trip, they always ask for more at the end. So annoying, really!
We will probably return to Varadero but certainly not in Acuazul.response / report this review -

Have stayed here twice, it's OK, the food is acceptable and the staff are fine. We've stayed a lot of different places and this has it's typical Cuban hiccups. If you are not fussy, this is good value for the price. We are actually considering staying again this year, if that says anything. We love the beach, it's a couple of blocks away but it is private. Great location right on the strip, the all-day bus is just steps away as is the large artisan market. Lots of cheap restaurants nearby and there is plenty to do near the hotel. Get a room on the street side on an upper floor, as the animation on the poolside can be noisy at night.

Hotel smells like cats. Music around pool area was too loud all day, had to shout when talking to friends. Lobby Bar is open 24 hours but won't serve you water even at 5am while waiting for tour or transfer bus

This was the worst hotel I've ever been to!
First of all, there was a lot of dirt in every corner of our room, the air-conditioning (probably from the 70s) lost so much water that we didn't even have to try out the pool because we had our own right next to our bed (I don't even want to start talking about the power cable that was lying in that gigantic puddle all the time - Everybody can imagine what happens when electricity meets water ;))
Second, the "food" which was offered by the listlessly working kitchen staff was simply inedible! The meat was fried so hard that you would have lost your teeth if you had eaten up everything! But this was just the beginning of the misery! There were flies sitting in actually every container or plate with food that wasn't recently cooked (mostly meat and salad). The Cuban guests just chased them away but for guests from other parts of the world this was a rather nasty experience!
Third, after our arrival at the hotel at 10:30 (right between the breakfast and the lunchtime which starts at 12:30-14:30) the receptionists gave us two options: First, staying with thirst and without food until 14:30 (right after the lunchtime) or paying 8 CUC per person in order to be able to "enjoy" the services of that flophouse right from the beginning of our stay. At this point, let me just finish with three words: Without any comment!
However, you can't imagine, there were also some more or less positive aspects: The hotel is located close to the beach (ca. 200m), there was warm water all the time and the beverages were quite delicious. (If you have to live with so many defects, you're glad about every small thingy which is (at least a little bit) as expected).
My recommendation, especially for European or North American guests, is to avoid this place. You will not even feel comfortable for one single day!response / report this review -
