Amazing view, facilities are not as clean as I would like but it's not a deal breaker. Bathrooms are nice and rooms have A/C. The owner and staff are really nice and helpful, I would recommend.
Originally we booked an Airbnb by the owner of this hostel which was supposed to be down the road somewhere. On arrival to this hostel we were informed the Airbnb had an emergency plumbing problem and we could not stay there. Sonia the owner was nice enough to put us up in the bungalow on site by ourselves for the two nights. The bungalow had 2 seperate rooms (6 beds total) and we were only using 1, so that was very nice of here. Full kitchen and living room area, small tv with some cable channels. Air conditioning in the room was shotty but did its job. At first look we were worried coming into the hostel, things look a little shack like but when they showed us the bungalow we gladly accepted. The Views from the front porch are unbeatable. We made time in our schedule to make sure we would be home to watch every sunset. She even set up a national park tour for us with her local hook up and we enjoyed that very much. High recommend.
Things worth mentioning: Local food and bus are all uphill about 10-15 mins walk. There are barely any side walks and def kind of dangerous at night. The bus is cheapest way down to the park and back. Closest bus stop is up hill near the soccer park. Cost 315 colones per person each way at the time of writing.
This was a great place to stay at for me as a backpacker. The view is super awesome. The people are all traveling so very easy for conversations. Sassy, the front desk girl is super nice and very helpful with tips . She made stay enjoyable. Keep in mind it's a hostel so everything is shared.
Great view. We stayed in their private room with shared bathroom.
Hostel Vista Serena was an excellent choice for my stay in Manuel Antonio! Every morning, you are greeted with a breathtaking view, and perhaps a family of goats or chickens too. The rooms and showers are clean and cozy, and there's a bit more privacy compared to other hostels, since you can potentially upgrade to a private room if you wish. Nadia, the front desk attendant, did an outstanding job in helping me find what I needed around town. She also coordinated my adventures and ride to the airport. I highly recommend this hostel for first-time travelers to Costa Rica, due to Nadia's professionalism, and as well as the rest of the staff's work in making HVS a great stay.
Excellent service!
we really enjoyed are stay !
Thank you Vista Serena Staff
It's a great place to relax watching a beautiful sunset

Great view but our half-private room smelled of mold
Rooms are dirty and not worth the price, breakfast is a joke (bad coffee and terrible bread).
Generally this hostel was probably the worst we stayed at in CR, I travelled with my sister for 3 weeks and we went to many places but we've never seen anything like this, the lockers looked like they came straight from recycling (pic1) which made us feel unsafe using them so we didn't, the shower was horribly bad (pic2) they offered somewhat warm water which I appreciated but every thing just looked and felt dirty.
All in all I can only comment on the 18 person dorm where we stayed (where I barely slept that's how uncomfortable I felt) so maybe the other rooms are good I don't know but this kind of place does not deserve the rating it has at all, do not recommend to anyone.
The dorms are too expensive for what they offer. Breakfast is of horrible quality (fake bread, jam, butter, and coffee), everyday. The private rooms are nice, much better. So I will suggest to go to a private room here, or at a dormitory in another hostel in the area.
