Beautiful beach, excellent food, and nice rooms.

For our room, you entered from the hallway into a screened in room (open to wooded area outside not the hallway). From this room you entered the air conditioned bedroom area via a sliding glass door. There was a heavy curtains for the sliding glass door so I could work in the outside room without disturbing the kiddos sleeping. The bedroom was a little awkward with kids given how open it was (sink area of bathroom is in bedroom, frosted glass door to toilet room) so doing anything in those lights up the sleeping area.

The food at the restaurants was a little pricey but not unreasonable. Portions were sized well (not huge) and absolutely delicious. They had great options for the kids. All the restaurants are open air and by the pool and beach. Igaunas occasionally wandered through at lunch looking for handouts.

Beach was not crowded and they have chairs available and there are trees so you can have shade if needed.

This hotel has incredible location and a first class staff. I know this because we camped near by and stopped in for dinner only. But they treated us like stars because they only know one way to be and that is super kind and attentive. Everyone we met that were guests loved the hotel and surroundings. I also had coffee and worked there in mornings and it is fine for digital nomads.

Beautiful hotel with a great view, incredibly friendly English-speaking staff, and a delicious breakfast buffet. Room was a bit smaller than I expected when booking but very nice.

Relatively small property on a fairly quiet stretch of beach (no major towns nearby). The staff is great; attentive and friendly. The food is also very good and priced reasonably for a resort. There's plenty to do if you want to, or just lounge by the beach or pool. A great property; very laid back and relaxing.

The property is beautiful and the rooms are very nice and clean. Unfortunately everything is an extra cost. There is no free transportation anywhere. It cost us $40 for a round trip to dinner that was about 5 minutes away from the property. So I guess make sure you rent a car and bring your own alcohol!

A fascinating place from the very beginning to the very end!! Without a doubt a great place to stay and to be. It has magnificent service and the spa is great! The food is great and the ocean is as calm as a pool. A must if you're going to this part of Costa Rica!

Wonderful getaway for 2. I would also say family friendly from what I observed, though more couples than families. Can't wait to go back. Also, anything you catch from the sea they will cook for you onsite. Amazing black fin tuna!

Amazing service and rooms. Super quiet beach, they even cleaned it up and put some nice grass between the Hotel and the beach. There is nothing not to like. Karla, Larry, Mr. Otto and Mr. Jose will make you feel very welcome. Breakfast is diverse, the pool side Lunch is quite nice, there is a well priced kids menu and the chef really cares for feedback. Spa, Turkish and whirlpool are also separate to pull away from the pool. This is going to be my go-to Hotel for vacations.

Such a clean, modern, and beautiful resort. Staff is friendly, everything is so well laid out, and the room is absolutely gorgeous - perfect way to end our Honeymoon. There's a hammock in the room! Overall a fantastic stay, so glad we choose El mangroove!

We had a bottom floor room with a enclosed balcony room as you enter with a hammock and couch, this area was very relaxing to sit and have a drink and watch the monkeys in the tree outside. The room its self was extremely comfortable and clean and very quiet. The staff all friendly and approachable and the pool was relaxing

We had a very nice room, everything was clean and worked well. Housekeeping was excellent. The beach and ocean, being in an enclosed bay, was very flat, so if you like waves that break, you have to go elsewhere. (We loved Flamingo Beach, and will stay at the Flamingo Hotel in the future). Mangroove is expensive, and they charge for virtually everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can't honestly say we got good value for our money at this hotel, we likely will not return.

Feel like you are getting "up-sold" for everything here. Get quoted different prices for things / services depending on who you speak with. That being said, many of the staff are wonderfully attentive. Especially Cindy, Sandro, and Juan at the restaurants. Also very helpful was Andrea in concierge.

El Mangroove is a funky, quirky, and classy place. Very professional. Interesting architecture, with lots of angles riffing off of living bamboo. Elegant pool. Gorgeous spa. Lovely beach.

Two restaurants provide some options - the beach facing restaurant is more casual and less expensive, but still very good. The more formal restaurant offers poolside or enclosed seating and is much more upscale - fine dining, fine wines. Both offer excellent juices and cocktails.

The spa is beautiful, but overpriced. Management definitely cares more about the quality and appearance of the facility than they do about the quality of the treatments. My wife and I got massages that were relaxing and pleasant, but not remotely therapeutic. Mine was supposedly deep tissue, but pressure was very light, and the therapist was not very connected or sensitive.

There are plenty of activities - the hotel has a beach hut that offers kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, etc. There are also several cruises and fishing trips available. If you come here without your own transportation, you are pretty stuck with the onsite options - there is not much within walking distance and it is not easy (or cheap) to get a taxi. It is possible to rent a car onsite however, from Avis.

Has to be one of the top retreat hotels in the world, right on a secluded bay with dark brown Sandy beach, El Mangroove delivers the highest level of service from rooms to dining every moment of you stay will have you just wanting to stay longer, the pool area is chic, the beach bar like you are in Indonesia and the dining room as fine as any first class restaurant in the world, the food is oceans and farm to table with a chef that delivers night after night. A guest with me is vegan and the chef prepared every night of our stay a full vegan 3 course meal hand crafted.

The staff are invisible yet always attentive and provide you with anything you ask for, superb balance of space yet attention you will not find anywhere else on earth.
