Being my first hostel experience I would say that I enjoyed my stay. The beds were fine. There was a cleaning lady that cleaned the dorms daily. There was a small locker to store your valuables but you have to supply the lock. I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful when I would ask them questions and check in and out was a breeze. I didnt use the kitchen facilities. I loved the location, it was an easy 2 min walk to the beach. If I return to Tamarindo I will probably stay there again.

Too many negatives to list. Acceptable facilities in a decent location off the beach, but they lose all goodwill they might have built by consistently overcharging people. Attempt to charge $13 for a $9.49 bunk as tax. Tax is only 13%, making correct price $10.72. Then convert colones, the only legal local tender, to dollars @ 600/1. A six percent premium for a conversion they have no legal right to make. Welcome to CR boys and girls. Screw you; pay me. Stay home or go to Mexico.

Such an amazing experience. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is incredibly laidback. Great common areas to hang out, clean kitchen, clean bathrooms, comfy beds, and a cat that hangs out. The location is great. All in all, couldn't ask for a better place.

Loved this place! Walked to almost every hostel in the area looking for a good/cheap one and this was the winner. Fabulously clean and well equipped kitchen with three(!!) fridges. The staff were nice, helpful, and fun. Dorms had plenty of fans, they have private and AC rooms available. Close to the beach and main strip. Lovely chill out area with pool table, ping pong, bean backs, hammocks, etc. You also get access to the Best Western pool overlooking the beach! A bit of a walk, but cool for a hostel! Good atmosphere. Great value for your money and I would highly recommend it.

The hosts here are very friendly and super helpful! Sarah was a blast and super nice.

Thank you guys for holding onto and keeping my car safe!

The kitchen is clean and they have many fridges for you to store food, and lots of cooking supplies if you decide to make your own meals.

The hostel is a 5 minute walk to the beach and there are many convenience stores, restaurants, and bars close by.

Simba the cat is also an amazing kitty

I was not impressed. No water in the night, smoking stank the otherwise decent outside area. Kitchen is clean and well equipped, rooms clean but beds had springs coming through the matress covers. Most hostels in Tamarindo close to town centre. A good outside sitting area. The wifi was erratic, people at reception were nice,

Great vibe and atmosphere at this hostel. Friendly and helpful staff made it a pleasant stay. Located a minutes walk from the beach and local restaurants/supermarkets. Clean facilities, clean/comfy beds and a large communal area for socialising. Great value for money - this hostel comes highly recommended.

First of all, i have to coment on how amazing the staff was at Pura Vida. Miriam and Sarah were the absolute coolest people I've met on my whole trip. They made my stay so very comfortable. The first night i stayed they invited me for a couple of beers at the hostel (cheapest beer and drinks in all of town). We talked and laughed for hours. This place has the most chill, relaxed, fun atmosphere. The rooms were very clean, clean sheets, clean showers, clean toilets. And the location, you couldn't ask for a better spot. Less than a minute to the beach. Less than a minute for amazing food and restaurants. Less than a minute to all the best bars in town. All in all, hands down best hostel in all of Tamarindo. I will definitely be back here for my next stay in Costa Rica.
    Thanks Pura Vida!

We would have left them a 5 star review but they didn't offer to bribe us like they did for other 5 star reviews. It's not as clean as they would have you believe and the bed did have bedsprings sticking up. The light with the motion sensor right outside our window, shining into our room, can only be described as ignorant. The kitchen is dark, needs more lighting, but it did function well for us. The outdoor common areas are nice as are the staff. As far as budget accommodations in Tamarindo it's probably as good as you can do.

I really enjoyed my stay at Pura Vida Mini Hostel. So much so that I extended it to longer that originally planned. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the entire property is clean and well organized. They have lots of options to suit your price range. Dorms, private rooms with or without AC. The place is only 3 minutes walk to the beach and not much further to the main street but is still far enough away from the action to be quiet and peaceful at night. Its a great place to meet people and chill out. I highly recommend Pura Vida Mini Hostel.

Nice hostel in Tamarindo with a chill vibe. The staff are friendly and helpful. A little off the main road but close to the beach and short walking distance to the party spots. Also a supermarket nearby.

Amazing welcome from Stefan filling me in on all the local goings on, where to be when and what not. Super social hostel with people from all over coming through, hanging out on bean bags and hammocks and the like all day with Elizabeth helping out with other local info. Even in summer the rooms without air conditioning are plenty cool and spacious and the other amenities are sound, with a kitchen equipped for pretty much a restaurant. I've spent three weeks here and have spent a lot of time hanging in the hostel and wouldn't complain at all! To top it off with a host like Miriam you'll be sorted and sure to have a good time

Stayed here for 2 weeks and I enjoyed every minute of it. Everything was really clean and well taken care of. The staff was really friendly and I had the chance to meet a lot of people here. If you're looking for a hostel with a good vibe, this is definitely it! They have a really nice, big kitchen where everybody gets together and cooks nice meals. After one day I already felt part of the family. Definitely going to stay here when I return to Tamarindo.

We only stayed for one night, but this place was great! Elizabeth was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and she gave us such a wonderful tour when we first got there. The linen on the beds was really nice, and the mattresses are good quality. The ONLY reason I'm giving 2 stars is because we were bribed to leave a 5 star review. We were told if we leave a 5 star review, we would get a free beer. I really don't like it when businesses bribe their clientele in order to get a higher review. Bribing for reviews gives an inaccurate representation for future guests. Hopefully they discontinue this practice. BEWARE of the 5 star reviews! They may not be genuinely what that person would have rated. Just know that:)
