We had the best stay ever!! While some didn't like having to use the shuttles, we loved it!! It was part of the experience!! JJ was absolutely wonderful, going above & beyond to help in any way he could. He is funny, happy, & a pleasure to be around!! We even have a stuffed TOY Sloth from the resort that is named after him!! Lol
The restaurants were amazing & we happen to love the little beaches!! We would definitely stay again!!

Amazing experience. We stayed for our honeymoon and the staff were all so kind and helpful, they helped make our honeymoon special. We booked the standard room and did not do the "preferred club". I was never pressured to upgrade to preferred club and never felt like I was missing out (which I had wondered about originally). We had champagne, a cute banner and a nice letter when we entered the room. The entire resort is so beautiful, food was AMAZING, and there was always something fun going on. I can't wait to go back someday. Very highly recommend.

This hotel is just wow, the rooms are nice, the food is amazing and the staff is the best there is. They will do everything possible to make you happy. Alexis at the main pool bar will make you the best drinks you can have and Ernesto will drive you around like a professional driver. He knows how to navigate the resort with his eyes closed !

Little pricier than some of the other resorts in the area but the adults only party is nice. The beach is public so there are a couple different tour providers who hang out on the beach and try to sell you their tours. We did one of them and felt it was worth it, just do them early in the vacation before any sunburn sets in ;). They were also respectful when you say no. The food was great in all the restaurants and the service and staff were excellent. There are a lot of hills around the resort but there are always shuttles to take you where you want and the drivers where some of the most friendly people we met. Most of the guests were a little older but you could still find a fun crowd at night for karaoke and late night bar hangouts. All in all it was a great trip and absolutely worth the money.

Beautiful place and beautiful people! Staff were the kindest welcoming people ever. I felt at home and was treated like family. Mr.Julio Ramirez aka JJ was amazing. This place is hands down the nicest resort ever !! Food was great and the scenery was gorgeous. I love it here and will be back again . Thank you to secrets and all your staff you are appreciated so much and will be missed !!!

We stayed here recently for the New Year's holiday. The rooms are great (had a panoramic view room). The property is a bit big so be prepared to walk up/down hills to get to the beach/pool/restaurant areas or they have shuttles you can call to pick you up. We loved the Asian restaurant and ate their twice - be sure to make a reservation early in the morning for the hibachi. The breakfast is buffet and mostly great. Staff was helpful and attentive, and they have lots of different activities going on throughout the day. We recommend the sunset hike - great picture taking opportunity!

This was my first experience at an all inclusive resort and Secrets Papagayo Resort Costa Rica did not disappoint. This was also first time trip to Costa Rica and it was my honeymoon to boot!
The intimate feel and superior level of service received from the staff was unbelievable. We left feeling like we had new friends on the staff and a plethora of wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
The food was excellent with 5 different restaurants to choose from and didn't even get me started on the amazing drink selection! Great food, drink, new friends from around the world, amazing weather on the Pacific ocean.. good grief, it was fantastic! I enthusiastically endorse this resort!

I stayed there with my boyfriend in end of September and it's a great place! We stayed in tropical view bungalow and it was really nice and cozy. Decent size room and washroom, comfortable bed, little patio outside. Housekeeping did a very good job every day.
Common areas with a bars and pools were bit small, we went during the slow season and it was really busy, hard to find a long chair next to the pool, unless you come early morning. Pools are also but small, but clean and nice. Staff was exceptional! And I loved the drinks and the food. They have a buffet restaurants as well as regular restaurants, bars and a cafe.
We purchased a sailing and snorkeling trip with a travel office at the hotel. It was great, they took us to the other side of the bay and we spend like a good hour snorkeling in the water and checking out the beach. We also went for two trips with a local guy whom we met at the resort beach. Look for a young ,short muscular guy with a very short hair, his name is Herson! We both had a blast, he is very knowledgeable about Costa Rica and was an awesome guide for us. He took us to couple of amazing places so we could actually experience and see the country, the nature, and see how people live, as well as did some adventures like water tubing, horseback riding, zip lining, etc. It was super fun!
Overall we had a great stay and awesome time in Costa Rica. I would recommend it for couples, it was a good place for romantic getaway.

Absolutely phenominal. I'm not a beach person in general but I would go back in a heartbeat. The staff is incredibly kind and always smiling. The drivers knew us by name on day two. The drinks were amazing and the views matched. I absolutely recommend this to anyone that's looking for a get away.

Thank you secrets for the amazing honeymoon! Everything was so beautiful! The staff was amazing and so kind! The people there are so genuine and sweet! One thing we were not expecting was the wildlife near rooms-expect to see raccoons and skunks waking around at night! Our door was broken to our room and a raccoon got in at 1:30 am. Staff was kind and fixed the door. Apparently the raccoons coming out on the porches is normal but it is to be expected with the rooms being in a jungle-like setting! If you are looking for a relaxing setting with wonderful food and service this is the place to go!

Seriously the best all inclusive resort ever. We did our wedding here and it was absolutely perfect. The food was absolutely perfect and is the definition of of fine dining. The rooms are so nice no matter the size of room you get. The drinks were plenty strong and they didn't cheap out on the amount of alcohol they put in the drinks. 10/10 for sure.

Our Sorority Girls Trip was almost perfect until we were ready to go to the spa. We are preferred members which means ALL Inclusive and we definitely paid to be here!

For my turndown service I never received a rose petal turn down service at all and the company who provides the vouchers is extremely deceiving. Jerry Zamora is a pleasant person but cannot get control of his team. For example, Jenna is the rudest customer service representative and continued to talk over her manager!

The General Manager was conveniently not available ! We will simply contact the Executives!

Fantastic food. Great staff. Awesome excursions. Beautiful resort. Beach is not great but the pool is really nice. Its smaller than the other resorts and feels more homey. Overall just a fantastic resort.

We loved it! The resort is nice and they offer a lot of excursions. Most of the food was great! Our tour guide Herson was great as well he took us everywhere we wanted to go. The coffee there is fabulous!! I had to buy some just before we left for home. They rooms are beautiful and so is the view from the room. Although they didn't offer much entertainment at night we were pretty tired from the excursions during the day. All in all it was a fabulous trip and I would love to go back!

I just want to say thank you to Secrets for their amazing help when we were stranded in Costa Rica due to the Houston airport being closed. They gave us an emergency rate which was a very good deal! It was very generous of them as they could have just charged us full price. I am grateful to them.
The resort was also amazing. The food was great, the pool and bars were also wonderful. They have rafts for the pool. In addition, there were so many activities to keep you busy if you want to do them. The staff was very energetic - everyone from the bartenders to the activities desk to the drivers. The rooms were clean and very nice.
I would definitely go again.

Charming resort! The service is great the food is delicious and best of all the place is amazing. It's in the middle of a jungle. So you get beautiful nature on the beach. Don't expect white sand beach and don't feel discouraged to step your toes on the grey but yet the softest sand possible. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful black sand beach with plenty of available beach chairs. Loved that a person didn't have to reserve a seat at the restaurants. Would definitely go back

Close to Liberia airport, beautiful beachside location set on a hill overlooking the bay.
Rooms are well appointed and provide comfortable accommodation. Those with mobility issues may find the hillside daunting but private golf cart type shuttle buses are available to order all day.
Restaurants offer a good variety of local and international cuisine.
The beach is a fine volcanic black sand, which meets with a variety of feeling!
The sea appears clean but can be prone to jelly fish.
Adult only resort here but mixed age couples and families 18 upwards. The usual activities available, plus some at an extra charge.
Small but adequate gym, good spa etc.
Local tours offered from the hotel and similar offered by beach vendors, some well rated on trip advisor.

Amazing service, excellent accommodations. Staff is super friendly and helpful with anything you need. The food was excellent but heavily Americanized. Not quite enough local flair. Ocean water was populated with jellyfish, wish is outta the resorts control, but it was the only beach on the property. Spa/romantic area had Amazing hammocks right on the beach, what more can you want.
