My husband and our son had the most wonderful time staying at Chilamate Rainforest Eco Retreat. We drove in very late due to a delayed flight and in the pouring rain so it was a little hard to find but once we arrived Davis and his staff were very welcoming. They had a golf cart to accommodate our luggage from our car to our room. Davis offered us food and beverages although I’m sure the restaurant was closed. Our room was much roomier then I expected. It accommodates our party of three perfectly. There were clean sheets and towels. The next morning we had the most amazing breakfast complete with fresh coffee, juice, fruit, eggs, bread and even chocolate milk for our son. He was elated. It’s his favorite beverage. All the food is organic and the flavors are on point. We stayed for dinner the next night and it was spectacular! Davis even made a chocolate milk special for our little man. The service was 5 stars! William arranged our boat tour the next afternoon and took us on an amazing tour of the property where he was a wealth of knowledge of all the plants, birds and critters. He took us around with his telescope showing us all the birds you can hear but are most times too far away to see with the naked eye. Davis even lent us umbrellas and a magnifying glass for our son to inspect all the little critters. Their hospitality was over and beyond. They are great people and it was a pleasure to get to know them. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to Costa Rica to stay here. We felt like it was a home away from home. We couldn’t of asked for a better experience. Pura Vida!!

We loved our stay last fall (2016) at this resort. The family who run it are amazing and we loved our onsite ecotour and took several other local tours including of the family chocolate plantation down the street and San Juan boat tour. We felt we had a very authentic experience of Costa Rica. We also enjoyed our home cooked meals - they were delicious.

Es una reserva, ambientalista, donde puedes realizar actividades muy interesantes, su enfoque es el cuidado y la preservación de la naturaleza.

Quite basic rooms - no hot water (at least in our room), sink was at an angle, windows wouldn't close properly, wifi "available" but not really functional, and the walls are incredibly thin (you can hear every conversation). The food was ok and the staff incredibly friendly and welcoming. You don't really come here for the 5-star experience but it's genuinely nice to be surrounded by rainforest. Be warned, though, that the car parking is a 3 min walk away.
