This place was listed online as a 3 star resort and I do not understand why. Everything here was beautiful and perfect. The rooms were nice, the grounds we're maintained, the food was good and the employees were very nice, especially Gustavo in the pool bar. This may be one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The only downside is you need a car to do anything outside as it's not walking distance to anything else.
The views are breathtaking, period. It has an amazing up close view of the volcano and the grounds are very quiet and peaceful atleast during our stay.
With that being said, the food is decent but overpriced and the buffet isn’t too great. There isn’t much to do besides the amazing hot springs. The staff know a decent amount of English but expect to know some basic Spanish. The rooms are a bit small.
Overall, you will get bored within hours here. It is close to La Fortuna and right next to the huge Arenal Volcano, a must-see for people staying here.
Staying here right now (since Sunday). Having a good time so far. View from the room is out of this world (view of the volcano). The grounds are impeccably maintained, and facilities are really good. Pools and hot springs are very well prepared and kept. Both kids enjoyed the hot springs immensely. Morning breakfast (included) is fairly exhaustive, though I would have probably expected a wider fruit selection given the availability in the area. I probably would like the room to be a bit bigger as well, but it’s not small by any stretch. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Everyone was reasonably well versed in English.
Location is pretty good for all the local attractions. La Fortuna is the 10 mins by car, and $8-12 by taxi.
Great accommodation, great staff - all spoke good English but were happy to endure my attempts at Spanish. Pool is really good, with a good selection of restaurants and bars. Very relaxing and the view is fantastic. I highly recommend!
We went here for our first time out of the US for our honeymoon. We stayed at a total of 4 hotels on our trip. This hotel was by far the best all around because of 3 things the people who work there ( Allan in particular and one other person who taught us Spanish at dinner.. I forget his name :( ) , the absolutely beautiful pools/hot springs/ swim up bars and our room, and how safe we felt there.
There was a hotel we stayed at after that was, on the outside, over the top.. private beach and automatic window shades and on and on.. but the staff were terrible. There were bugs in the room and food was gross.
The arenal springs hotel was the best because you just can't beat good service and gracious people. The little details they did for our honeymoon and how well they maintained the grounds and how quiet it was So irreplaceable!
The downsides.. it is far from town and anything in walking distance so we had to take a lot of taxis. The breakfast was a bigger spread but I wished there were some options like oatmeal or fresh veggies ..a vegan option like banana chia seed pancakes ( egg free). My husband was happy because he had waffles and fruit and eggs and breads but I was stuck with fruit and rice and beans for 4 days. The other thing is the restaurants there.. the really expensive one or the Italian one which was better priced but everything had gluten or dairy there. This was why we had to go to town a lot!
Overall, I would definitely go back. I miss the staff already. Thank you to Allan and the other man who were so friendly and made us feel at home.
Absolutely stellar staff and amenities. The staff welcomed us in the lobby with hot hand towels and juice and explained all the resort's features. My fiancee and I loved the naturally heated hot springs and swim up sushi bar. I'd be hard-pressed to find a better resort for the price. I observed the staff to be polite and responsive at the Ritz Carlton training level, but the resort is priced far lower. Extremely satisfied with my 2 night stay!
Excellent stay! Great resort & friendlt, helpful staff! Would definitely stay here again!
Friendly and attentive staff. We were there on New Year's Eve and the restaurant staff pulled out all the stops for the event. It was a night filled wirh amazing food and service.
The hot springs at the lodge are amazing, and being at the lodge have the advantage of being exclusively for the guests.
The rooms are bungalow style in groups of 2 or 4 and while not too far away from the main buildings and pool deem like quite a hike if it is raining (which it frequently is). Golf carts and umbrellas are available to help though.
Attentive staff. Delicious food. Spectacular views. Pristine grounds.
Went to Costa Rica in June for my daughter's wedding. Hotel Arenal Springs was our last stop of the trip and it was such an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed was small but very nice. The bartender Marvin was excellent very friendly and made sure he remembered our name. The food at the hotels restaurant was excellent. The talapia with avocado sauce was to die for as a matter of fact everything I ate there was awesome. I loved it and would go there again.
Very nice, upscale resort. The swimming pool with natural flowing hot-springs water is the highlight. It even has a swim-up bar! Their breakfast buffet doesn't have a big spread, after the first day I wasn't looking forward to going to the breakfast
Really nice place. People are great. Rooms are nice. Set up of grounds and the layout of the rooms is cool and different. Having hot springs on the grounds is enjoyable. Bar in hot springs was convenient.
Wonderful family hotel! We so enjoyed our stay. Our cabin was clean, cool, and very comfortable. My kids got a kick out of the shower. It's a great location to the volcano and a short cab ride into town. We had a fantastic time, and you will not go wrong booking this beautiful resort.
Paradise. I feel like I'm walking around Fantasy Island. It is a green resort so there are certain luxuries that are frowned upon or not encouraged. Don't expect to take a long hot shower and definitely don't throw any toilet paper in the toilet. (A bit of an adjustment for sure.) But as soon as you step out the front door of your bungalow and stroll amongst the citrus tress and beautiful flowers, none of that matters. Can't wait to take a dip in the famous hot springs or try out one of the hammocks.
One of the most beautiful and friendly resorts I have ever seen, pictures simply do not do it justice. Free yoga every morning, sushi and burgers available at the warm pool swim up bar, a total of three restaurants here. There is a cool water pool, warm jacuzzi, mineral water pools, warmed by the volcano. Amazing lush foliage and flowers, shady hammocks for reading or napping. This might have to be an annual trip!
Costumer service is amazing. Food is good and massages are delightful.
The service is great right from the beginning, when you are handed a towel and fresh juice at check in. Tours are easy to arrange. The breakfast isn't the best, but everything else is great! Love the hot springs!
Very well managed resort. Incredible view on Arenal volcano from each little hacienda. Lush, varied and well maintained vegetation throughout the resort from bottle palms to orange and lemon trees. Vegetation is identified with informative signs. Food and service are excellent. The hot springs are well designed with a nice free form pool which includes Swim up bar and Sushi. Lunch and supper from either the International or Italian restaurant. Rooms are airconditioned with TV, safe and luxurious bathrooms. Due to the mountains the sky can cloud over or clear up quickly.
Super relaxing resort was quiet and friendly. They greeted us with cool wet towels and a drink, like they knew the drive in was rough. Hot springs were fantastic!
Super friendly staff, hand you a drink and towel as soon as you get there.
Rooms are wonderful and they offer a lot of freebies that make you feel at home.
Food is kind of pricey but the swim up bar is pretty awesome.
Spa is great, excellent service and atmosphere.
View is spectacular!
