By far one of the favorite places that I’ve ever visited in my entire life!!! If you visit Costa Rica and do not go to Tabacon, you are doing it wrong. The springs are absolutely glorious. We still talk about the breakfast buffet 4 years later. Again, best that I have ever seen. I cannot say enough about this place!!! Prices are a bit higher for a place in Costa Rica but completely worth it.

WOW! 900 hundred acres of unexpected Wow. This is one of the only Natural Hot Springs provided by Mother Nature. Many natural pool areas, the higher you go, the hotter the water. Wake up to stunning views of the Arenal Volcano. The grounds are superbly manicured. The rooms were very nice. The dinner every night was well prepared, super fresh , cooked to perfection and "MAC' our server (he has been there 23 years) took care of us, made us feel extremely welcome and took us under his wing with advice on the local sites. Costa Rica never disappoints. This Spa was not on my radar. Don't miss a chance to experience this natural wonder

The staff went above and beyond every single time. My room was super nice and clean and had a lovely view of the volcano, and the hot springs were like no other. Make sure to stay at the Shangri La Gardens for the hottest temperatures.

My only complaint was the food. I have had much better food from resorts that cost half the price. While the breakfast buffet is nice, stay away from the dinner buffet by the hot springs — a total waste of money.

We stayed at Tabacon for 3 nights in February 2021 and it was probably the most enjoyable place we have ever stayed. The service is absolutely wonderful. Every single employee we interacted with was friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay great. We felt 100% safe based on how they handled COVID protocols, much better than anywhere in the US.

Both bars have amazing, creative cocktails created by skilled, professional bartenders. The bar programs go well beyond typical tropical options and there would be plenty of options for anyone regardless of drinking preference. They also had about five really nice craft beer options which is very good for CR.

The food was incredible. We mostly ate small plates at the bar, which were outstanding, and one night we did the 6 course tasting menu which was equally impressive and an amazing value at $65/person.

The grounds are beautiful, and obviously the hot springs are like paradise. I could go on and on about all the different things that made this trip great. We were on the fence about staying at Tabacon because there are so many other great options at cheaper prices. It was 100% worth the extra money for such a unique and incredible experience. We are already talking about going back sometime.

Divine and a true 5-star-experience. Unbelievable beautiful hotel and fantastic staff. The perfect place to unwind. Great for kids, too. If you have time and want to enjoy the hot springs, stay one night here. You can use the hot springs as long as you want and get to enter 2h before non-hotel-guests. Rooms are big, clean, and with huge king beds.

Friendly staff, first rate accommodations.
Our most expensive meal of our entire trip to Costa Rica was at the La Toucan at Tabacon. The restaurant is delightful, and the atmosphere is wonderful, albeit quite dark. Unfortunately, the actual meal was a disappointment - and incredibly expensive too. We had the rib-eye cooked on a personal super-heated lava stone. While the stone cooking was ok, and only a little hokey, the actual steak was not up to the standards that and entree of this cost should be. There were four of us dining and we all shared in this opinion.

Wonderful resort. Skip La Toucan for steaks anyhow.

Was there as a hot springs visitor. In main pool water is way too hot, around 40 Celsius degrees. In other pools water is not so hot. There are some air and water massage. Prices in bar are high. 4-5 bucks for beer, 4-8 bucks for shots and 8-10 bucks for cocktails.
I prefer free springs but my wife loves this place.

This is difficult to write I've been visiting Tabacon since 1995, but lately it's just a place for really, really, really old people. They offload buses of tourists and only charge the tour companies a small fraction of what they charge visitors to spend time in the springs. Personally, I think they should have a cover charge based on the time you enter the area Less expensive during off peak hours, more during peak hours Then charge an hourly rate on top of this This would keep people enjoying the area and make more money than the current pricing system. I specialize in demand and congestion pricing, queueing theory, predictive pricing, etc Trust me, this would just make everyone happy and make the resort more money.

Great accommodations. Breakfast buffet was awesome! The only thing that we were disappointed with was the food menu for lunch and dinner. Expensive and not very many healthy options. But we rented a car and went to LaFortuna and that was great and very close by. I would recommend Tabacon.

Did a day spa here - if only I could give it 10⭐️! Exceeded my expectations for sure! Such attentive staff - I barely had to say anything or look further than across the room, someone would be there. Beautiful facilities in the spa hut! Had a fantastic experience and feel amazing!

Beautiful spar and resort. The room, service and staff were amazing. We thought the restaurant prices were inline for the terrific food and service. Ribeye steak on lava rock is absolutely amazing. Be aware, unless you are a big eater , one will share nicely for two! The hot springs and pools were a wonderful experience. We plan on returning next year for a longer stay.

Fantastic service, fantastic location. With the only real hot springs that is naturally created by the rivers. Definitely nice, serene, relaxing, and lots of opportunity to relax. Also close to many outdoor adventure opportunities.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The room was fantastic. The staff was great! We really enjoyed the food. The hot springs had many different pools so you could have some privacy. There is an adult guest only section that is much quieter and private. The spa was also very good. If you need a massage this is the place.

The hot springs in the resort are amazing but I think the hotel / resort is significantly overpriced for what I would expect from a place like this. The rooms are nice but lack many touches that I would expect from a $300+ night place - examples: safe is old, there is free water but tastes terrible - and you can pay extra for regular bottled water (most places at this price point in Costa Rica would just give you free water), the way the room is designed it's super easy to track water into your room (and it rains a lot). The staff is friendly but only mildly attentive (once again not what I would expect at this price point).

It is also worth noting that the breakfast / hot springs are isn't quite where the accommodations are at. It's a good 5-8 minute walk down / up the hill - there is a free shuttle connecting both areas, just wasn't areas obvious piece of information when I booked the room.

I have a sense that I'd be better off buying a day pass for the hot springs and staying somewhere else with better value for money.

Wow! I really cant say enough great things about this place! The staff was super helpful, the food was good and great overall atmosphere. I was a little concerned that the website might have over embellished the place, but I would actually say that as awesome as their website is, it doesn't do this place justice. If you eat at the restaurant try to get Luis as your waiter, he is awesome!

Easily one of the nicest resorts I have ever been to. Hotel staff was wonderful, rooms were spacious and clean, and hot springs were amazing. The property is massive, and you can spend days hanging out and exploring the springs without ever getting bored.

Would highly recommend Tabacon to anyone visiting La Fortuna / Arenal.

The room we stayed on was very modern. They turn down the rooms everyday and change sheets every evening. Very clean and professional staff. You won't have problems looking for outlets here. They have plenty. Our room is amazing, cause we have a volcano view in front of the sliding glass. Hot springs are very also amazing. They have shuttle service driving back and forth every 5 minutes or less to bring you back and forth from the spa to the rooms. There's lots of entrances and trails to access different parts of the hot springs and it looks very natural. One local we talked to said it was natural river.
For food they have restaurants and free breakfast at tucana restaurant. We went to the town area where lots of foreigners walk around. We went to My Coffee (which serves great cappuccino) and Pollo Fortuneño (for a whole open fire grilled chicken and beef ribs) it was all great!

I had a suite. This was really nice. Its hot springs were the best in the world. Though there can be lizards in the hotel lobby, that's just the tropical climate. It has a great view of the volcano.

Wow. This place was unbelievably gorgeous. Really amazing staff who are always ready to help with anything. Amazing food, for every meal. It felt like the height of luxury. I would recommend giving yourself time to just enjoy the hotel and hot springs and not plan too many activities, you will want to be able to enjoy the hotel!

Large well kept rooms and bathrooms, beautiful setting. Make sure to access the guest portion of the hot springs (Shangri-La) for the less crowded and more relaxed pools. Enjoyed a wonderful couples massage at the spa. We were disappointed with the food at the resort (quality for the price). Also, we did not have a rental vehicle so were stuck at the resort without a good way to get to La Fortuna over 6 miles away.

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful, modern rooms with a boutique hotel feel. The highlight is certainly the all access pass to the hot springs. Check out the pictures others have posted, as it is even more spectacular in person. The staff were very nice, and the tours were definitely worth the money.

This place is OKreally a poor value though. Priced as a high luxury place but the experience is not reflective of this. Pros are that the staff is very pleasant (but this is true basically everywhere in Costa Rica) and that the hot springs are also lovely. Howeverfor a $3-500 per night placeyou have air conditioners that run so loud that it woke my husband when it turned on. Per maintenance, they are all this way. Maintenance man advised just turning it off. Ummit was 80 degrees inside before I turned it on. Your restaurant is *maybe* 30% full but you cannot accommodate walk ins because it will "overwhelm the kitchen". OK, we make a reservation for 1.5 hrs laterservice is still sluggish at best (10min before we can get water, have to flag down the hostess to get our seat bc she is busy setting tables. The group in front of us cancelled their reservation and walked out) The food is OK, breakfast buffet is decent actually. Trying to get anyone to answer the phone is a joke, takes at least 5-6 tries to get a hold of the front desk. Really my takeaway from this place is that it tries to have a facade of luxury (so they can charge as much as possible) while keeping the actual luxury (including having sufficient staffing) to a minimum. There are plenty of other nice hotels in the area that are not very high end priced that can offer you a similar or better experience. It's not a terrible place, it just isn't worth the hefty price tag.

Really lovely. The rooms are amazing (especially the Rainforest Suite) and the surroundings are truly breathtaking. Costa Rica always has a very high standard of service and Tabacon is no exception. The spa is lovely: the water is a very pleasant temperature (around 40° C) and will keep you comfortable even if it's raining outside. The design of the spa is lovely as well: they seem to be shooting for a "managed nature" type of look, so you have the comforts of civilization while still feeling like you're in the rainforest.
