Second time here, one of my favorite places to stay in Arenal/ La Fortuna. Private resort, parking for your villa, small patio facing the popular volcano, private hot springs, popular breakfast buffet. Arenal Paraiso is the perfect place to stay. Only downside is WiFi is only available in and near the lobby.

We enjoyed the hot springs so much after our tours to help us relax and the pool felt good after a hot day. Loved the zip line canopy tour that's in the back yard of the hotel Arenal Paraiso Resort and Spa!! Amazing view during the zip line. We had never zip lined before but the guides explained everything really well and made sure we were safe and had fun the whole time. Gracias a Miguel y sus compañeros! Pure Vida!!

Nice hotel with exceptional breakfast and restaurant. Tours are set with particular tour companies, which might not be ideal for each family. For example if you want to go canyoning with kids under 13, you have to call and coordinate with Pure Trek. The spa was lovely as were the hot springs.

Got a day pass here. Pretty terrible, sad that part of it was fine. Pools were fine. Staff were nice. Massage was okay, but not as long as I was charged for. Pedicure was terrible in that I was charged for 50 minutes, lasted about 30. I let my nails sit for a good 15 min while my friend was finishing up (hers actually lasted about as long as it was supposed to). Nails smudged immediately meaning I paid top dollar for a half-assed pedicure with dollar store polish. Staff just stood around when I told them about my experience - no attempt to remedy the issue. Definitely wouldn't recommend using the spa. Now I understand why their reviews were a lot lower than other spas in the area

Canopy tour with Miguel is amazing, kids really enjoyed it! Thermal spa are not the prettiest in the area but we appreciated the quietness and the view on the Arenal volcano (go to the hottest bath first).

Needs some TLC. The fridge in our room was very loud and could not be turned off. Staff was not very well trained. The grounds were pretty and the thermal pools were nice.

Thermal pools are nice and staff were friendly, but changed room twice on arrival due to finding mouse droppings and remnants of poison. Manager told me that he'd checked the second room personally but then admitted that he hadn't. Accepted the third room because it was very late. It was a suite (more space than I needed) and was very damp. I couldn't open the windows because they had been screwed shut and there was a leak in the roof. Described on Expedia as having wifi in all rooms but it was only available in the reception and restaurant which were a hilly 5 minutes walk from my room. Restaurant was very pricey for the portion size.

This is the single worst hotel experience I've had in my life. The customer service at the front desk refused to help me after they're was a discrepancy on my booking confirmation and what was visible on their end. Some incidents:
The lady at the front desk, Karina, called me a liar. It doesn't even matter what the rest of the story is - this is not customer service. That's not a proper by any means.
The front desk area ran out of water - they took 1 hour to provide drinking water for guests sheet being notified thrice. The first two times they were notified the front desk told me to go check again, effectively calling me a liar again.
The manager refused to come out and speak to us or show his face.

The hot spring is mediocre at best, but it is at least hot.

The food in the restaurant is incredibly overpriced, and is of fast food quality.

The rooms are small and not at all of resort quality.

There is no wifi in the rooms - it is only available in the reception and restaurant area.

We had booked a FAMILY vacation and when doing so it was STATED we would have 2 rooms, I did not quite understand why.(We never use 2 rooms) I went with their recommendation since this is the first time traveling to Costa Rica. I figured the travel agent must know best! (rooms must be different there)
When we got to our first destination and saw our room, I was surprised about the recommendation of 2 rooms, this was a family vacation NO reason to be separated! The room was huge and easily fit our family of 4. We immediately went to management and asked that we cancel this room and get credit to our account. This is where Pacific Trade Winds did us WRONG! I explained the language barrier and the agents recommendation of 2 rooms, they did not seem to care.
This happened at Arsenal Paraiso and Flamingo Resort! This vacation was costly and I am disappointed in BOTH resorts and their willingness to accommodate a customers request.
I think their agents need to ask "How many rooms will you need?"

This place has a neat layout and friendly staff. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the restaurant and lobby but luckily it reaches the very nice pool and its swimup bar. The hot springs are nice once you get past the off-putting color. Wear your dark swimsuits so they don't stain!

Super special place. Amazing views of the volcano. Multitudes of unique activities in the area such as ziplines and canopy tours. The staff treats you as family and truly cares about each guest. They remember names and faces. Pretty awesome. The restaurant has amazing food, even during the breakfast buffet.

I really liked my experience there, keeping in mind it is a moderately proceed eco-Lodge. The highlights were the super friendly staff, the delicious food in the restaurant, the beauty of the property in the rainforest, and the hot mineral springs pools. Our room had a gorgeous view of the volcano. The accommodations were simple but adequate, however, I wasn't expecting tepid water for showers (it seems they use a solar water heater) our a toilet that didn't flush well. I didn't have much need for wifi, as I was looking to be outside in nature, but people may want to know it is only available in the reception building and restaurant. I would stay there again!

We stayed 2 nights in a superior lodge. It was unattached with TV spacious and lovely with a veranda enclosed by glass. hotel drinks were 4 dollars a bottle of beer. Breakfast was extensive and nice. There are a number of thermal pools. We had one to ourselves. The higher up the hill the hotter the pool.

Individual two room cabin with awesome view of Arenal volcano. We had a midrange one for $70 a night and would of expected to pay $175 or better in the States. No kitchenette. Beds were comfortable; my wife liked the different animals the staff would fold the towels into. Front porch was awesome see pics. Hot springs are natural hot spring water that cascades through several man made pools with hottest at top and cooling as they descend. All were clean. Main pool with wet bar was open and cloudy. Childrens pool was nasty. Not sure of cleaning schedule since chlorine is not used. Restaurant was amazing. Breakfast is a buffet with actually hot food and would cost you $15 or better in the states. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend and would happily return.

After staying in Arenal for two nights at a different hotel, my wife and I were headed back to the Costa Rican West Coast when our rental car (Budget Liberia) broke down. We happened to break down next to the family's house that owns Arenal Paraiso. Oscar happened to be leaving as we broke down and asked if we needed help. He helped us translate our issue to Budget, drove us to Arenal Paraiso Hotel and allowed us to use the facilities and hot springs while everything was sorted out with Budget. Both Oscar and the staff were extremely friendly (the staff was also patient as we had to wait around for nearly 4 hours), the hotel grounds were beautiful and the food at Oscar restaurant was great.

If this was the type of treatment we received as stranded travelers, I have no doubt that guests would have an excellent experience. We wish we would have stayed at this location on the first shot but we know we will stay here next time we visit the area.
