place was great with a good dine
Historical building. Not very very expensive even though it is located in the center of Shanghai, at the west edge of East Nanjing Road, the most popular road in Shanghai.
I tried to book a room at this hotel but when I arrived, they told me there was no rooms available. I checked online and their website was allowing me to book a room, but when I showed the reception desk, they said an online reservation (at their own site!) doesn't guarantee a room. This was a Thursday night and I doubt the whole hotel didn't have a single room available.
AVOID - Give it a wide berth unless you want to be treated like a thief!
This hotel treat guests like thiefes, even if they are regular guest. Staff was very rude.
We have been more than 10 times at that hotel, but this one was definitely the last one!
As usually, we have been asked to pay deposit. We gave to the cashier the same payment card as previously (2 weeks before). Cashier said that he cannot accept the card to pay deposit and asked as to give him twice as much money as the total cost of our stay in cash. We hadn't that amount of money with us, but after long discusion, cashier accepted the card. It turned out that we have been charged only for the stay. We thought that this was because we are regular guests of that hotel. Once we reached our rooms, we saw that hotel staff removes everything for the minibar and bathroom! We went to the reception and asked what is going on? We don't even have a bottle of water in our room! Cashier replied in a sneering manner that they removed everything from our rooms because, we haven't paid deposit!
I couldn't believe that! I felt like someone called me a thief! I pay in advance 1900 RMB for 3 rooms/1 night, and the hotel staff afraid that I will steal them a can of Fanta or Coke worth 3 RMB?
As an English speaking tourist i understand it up to me to make the effort to communicate but if you are after a hotel with English speaking staff - this is not it.
Room could be a bit cleaner and the wifi seldom works (insanely slow) but the location is perfect for visiting Shanghai.
Best, location. Worst, Old furniture, tv and mat, but overall, rooms and corridors smell smoke everywhere.
The Wi-Fi service is widely covered in this hotel and fairly fast.
