Be Aware! This Hyatt Is Going To Scam You By Charging You DCC Without Telling You

I've stayed at Hyatt on Bund in Shanghai May, 2016 for four nights. The reason I am writing this review after more than a year is because I've just read a travel article about DCC. DCC stands for Dynamic Currency Conversion, in which, if you're being charged in this method, you are being ripped off BIG TIME! I did some research online, there are actually numerous articles telling travelers do everything to avoid DCC. And yes, silly me, I didn't know that till today! Here is what Wikipedia says about DCC: "DCC allows the merchant, merchant's bank or ATM operator to charge a markup on the exchange rate used, sometimes by as much as 18%The financial benefit to the merchant may be an incentive for the merchant to charge DCC even when it would be disadvantageous to the customer".

Hyatt on Bund charged me DCC upon my check-out at their hotel without saying a word to me. What surprised me was I have stayed all three Hyatt Hotels in Shanghai that trip with a total of ten nights, another six nights at Grand Hyatt Shanghai and Park Hyatt Shanghai. and this Hyatt on Bund(same category as Grand Hyatt) was only one scamed me with this DCC charge. Not to mention I am a Hyatt member and always stayed at Hyatt for many years

Renovated hotel with fantastic views of the HuangPu river, esp @ night when everything from building and boats/barges are all lit up

Nice hotel in a fun location. Our room was a little dated but very comfortable with a gorgeous view of the Pearl and surrounding buildings. Walking distance to the Bund and all of the shops and restaurants there.

Nice view, friendly staff. But the hotel could do with some renovation especially of washing room (smelly), air con/electricity, floor and furnishings.

This was the 3rd hotel we stayed in while in China, and it was by far and away the best hotel.

Firstly, the location is absolutely excellent only a very short walk to the Bund itself. Then there were the rooms which are also very nice, they are not huge but they are very clean, modern and comfortable. The TV is in a slightly strange location for watching when you are lying down on the bed but it is not a problem. The bathroom is nice, the bath tub and the shower are separate but they are in the same room nonetheless, it is nice.

The all day dining restaurant was great, very good service and very good food. It is also where they serve breakfast which was by far the best one we had in China. Again they very everything you expect from a 5 star hotels breakfast and very thing is made fresh by chefs in front of you. To be honest the dumplings where some of the best we had.

They also have a bar and restaurant on the 31st and 32nd floor of the hotel which you really must visit as not only are very nice establishments they offer some of the best views of the Bund I experienced and it is great to the see the city at night. Excellent picture opportunities.

Unlike the other hotels, the most noticeable difference here was that a much great number of people spoke English with much more fluency, which made a nice change.

As I have said this was the best hotel we stayed and its location cannot be faulted. I highly recommend.

Shanghai's most impressive view of the room! Friendly staff.
Public transportation accessibility is a little lower, but it is a walking distance to the Bund(7min).
