I have mixed feelings about this place. I have read a lot of positive reviews, so I had high expectations, but they were not really met. First of all, I think this hotel does not deserve a 4 star, it should be a 3 star maximum. It's not really on par with the other 4 star hotels in Basel. All the furniture and the front desk are seemed to be used heavily, and showed age. On my arrival, I had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to actually show up at the front desk. The room itself was clean, but not really big, the bathroom was really nice though. The minibar contained different beverages (juices, beer), and were free of charge, and was refilled every second day. The twinbed was 2 mattress put together, which is kind of normal. My room was looking at the back street, so I could hear everything, the soundproofing is kind of horrible. The TV was an old HD TV, so you could not use it to play your own material, although there was an USB slot on it, it could not identify my USB Drive. The internet speed was all over the place, it disconnected me several times during an hour. The food is not bad, and they try to focus on getting bio-everything, which is a plus, but there was not really a big selection during the breakfast. The staff is really nice, and super friendly, when they are available.
All-in-all, this is a place for you, if you're into the bio-vegan scene, and don't require much technology to go by. 3,5/5response / report this review -

Great service, friendly staff and quiet room. Excellent food! Very convenient location and clean place to stay. This is our third or fourth time staying at this hotel.

What a delightful hotel! Their Moto is "you come as a guest and you leave as a friend". So true. The service was awesome. The rooms were great and the breakfast (included) was excellent.

My room was large, sunny and extremely comfortable.
For business users coming from other countries (like me) there are European style plugs which were of great value for using the Laptop in the room (normal Swiss style plugs are also plentiful).
Mini bar is free and it's replenished each two days.
Decent tea selection.

Really great little hotel in heart of downtown near all of the transportation. Rooms are nicely appointed, the amenities are great, and you can get in and virtually all of CH because the main train station is a stone throw away! Great old school decor throughouta def stay when in Basel!

Nice rooms and great breakfast. Close to SBB station where you can go anywhere in France, Germany by train. Also close to tram station. Strongly recommended.
