After spending an amazing evening we had a very difficult time getting a cab back to Canmore. A "taxi taxi" cab driver made it very clear he didn't want our business and when we asked about the pre-paid fair he started shouting and prompley kicked us out. Mike at the desk helped us out. Can't say enough about the hospitality. Thanks Mike. Our future visits will be at the Banff Hotel YWCA.

Front desk staff are amazing! Stayed in the 8 man dorm. Typical bunk set up as expected. However, the mattresses were atrocious! Worst sleeps I've ever had. Cost expected for Banff, but would expect even decent mattresses.

Rooms are good, if a little Spartan. Best Chinese food in town almost directly across the street, which is a major plus. Nice walk to the main shopping area of Banff. And of the weather is too inclement, the transit system stops right outside the front door.
Down side is a WiFi network that makes Canada Post look fast. I had to login multiple times on my phone.response / report this review -

Really enjoyed staying at this hostel. Met a lot of cool people, the rooms were fine for a hostel. The only thing was the bunk beds were very squeaky. All the staff were very helpful and nice. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the night time staff member named Charli asking me if I wanted to fight him because he said I was 'eye balling him in an aggressive manor' and threatening to kick me out when I tried to talk him about the situation and why he thought I was 'eye balling him aggressively' A bit of a joke to be honest. Apart from that everything else was good.

Liked the layout of plenty private bathrooms available so never found myself waiting for a shower. However the dorms I stayed in had the hella creaky beds and this led to practically no sleep. Ear plugs are a must. Otherwise it was pretty decent. Expensive but it's Banff. Loud but it's a dorm. Just average.

Beautiful view!!! The rooms are simple but relaxing. They help to facilitate education on sexual and domestic violence to young people and help the community. This is a wonderful place.

The amenities are sparse, but it's better value than anything else around. The rooms are decent, although there's no AC and most are dorm-style where the washrooms and showers are shared. Parking is limited. The location is great, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable base camp for adventures around Banff.

Good for the price. We got a double bed room with shared bath. The room could use some rugs or carpet and the bathrooms could use a bench. Location is within walking distance of downtown Banff and right next to the river trail.

The rooms are small with only the bare essentials, although a nice enough place to stay if you're on a tight budget. The staff is VERY helpful. They took the time to show us the best hikes around town, how to get transportation, and helped us book our Hop On Bus ticket (an absolute must if you don't have a car). They even let us borrow their bear spray for free! Overall a nice economical stay.

After having campsite issues at tunnel mountain (Returning from skiing to find a trailer parked in our site) we decided to stay at the YWCA. We spoke with an extremely helpful and understanding fronk desk attendant, Tara, who went out of her way to make sure we had a place to stay for the evening. I am not one who leaves reviews on places but after experiencing such excellent customer service I feel it is a must. I absolutely would stay here again.

We attended a wedding here. It was rely well done! The veggie lasagna could have used a little more tlc. Less cream sauce and more veggies! Otherwise it was perfect!

Good place to sleep for the price. I really don't care where I sleep. As long as it's clean. But it's not nice to find blood on bedsheets. Seems like it was normal. Customer service didn't even ask about the blood after. Maybe they just don't care.

Only good thing about this hotel is the location. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone unless you're only going to Banff to party no sleep. There were washrooms outside our room and we were woken up by drunk kids puking in the bathrooms. No heat control in the rooms either had to sleep with Windows wide open in the winter time and even then the room didn't cool down.

For the price. This was a terrible hostel. The room was dirty. And the beds were squeaky. There was no lock on the bathroom door either. I took one look at the room and decided immediately I wasn't staying there. Not for $40 a night. There were no more affordable rooms in Banff at that time. So my friend went to the front desk to ask if they had any rooms. They said no. I went later to ask if they could do anything. They, again, said no. So I complained about the price/quality of the room. Suddenly a room was avaliable, a deluxe private. For $180 for two people. We took it. The room was actually very nice and we had a great sleep. But our experience with the dorm was so bad I can't give more than 2* Also, the parking was was incredibly icy, and it seemed they'd made no attempt to lay any grit. So almost every one of our party slipped at least once
